  • How does this compare to the LG 27GL850 deal the other day ?

    • +2

The Dell is a VA panel vs IPS of the LG. IPS has more accurate colour and better viewing angles, whilst VA has better contrast. The LG is smaller but a better panel for gaming in terms of faster response time etc.

    • The LG is way better.

Great monitor, I posted a similar deal a few days back through Amazon - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/544096

The monitor is exceptionally good for gaming and intermediate office work from home. Highly recommended!

The only thing to note that you can’t turn this monitor into portrait/vertical mode.

    • Agreed. Geat Monitor.

Also really good for PS4 gaming if anyone else is wondering.
I thought the aspect ratio is going to be an issue but it turns out to be excellent.

However i don't think this is the best price. I paid less than $750 i think (pre covid)
I think it was Dell sales combined with higher cashrewards.

      • ha, pre-covid everything was cheaper.
A cheap keyboard i got went up $10 after the wfh / panic :)

Portrait is useless on curved monitors

  • This or Kogan 34" 144hz $639?

    • This monitor for sure!

      • +3

        Why?

    • 34” is widescreen is it not?

  • is there any USB-C monitors please?

  • -5

Too bad only HDMI 2.0 limiting output to 4K at 60Hz.

Looking for something that'll be futureproof to use with the PS5 at 4K with 120Hz

    • +3

but this is not a 4k monitor

    • -1

Do you honestly think the ps5 is going to handle 4k 120hz…

      • I'm sure it can, it's whether or not games are made for it.

Even now, the 4k PS4 Pro barely has any 4K games. Most are 1080p or 720p

  • What's the point of curved screen if it's not wide?

    • +1

VA panels have bad viewing angles, and this is a big monitor as well so the curved definitely helps.

      • It is wide.
        It's not ultrawide.

        • Your point? The viewing angle is bad enough it's visible on 27" 16:9 flat VA panels. And this is even bigger.

          32" 16:9 is only ~9cm shorter in width than a 34" ultrawide.

          • @Kingduytan: Sorry, should've replied to Phoebus's comment, not yours.

          • @Kingduytan: That's why curved is well worth it, I found the 32" flat a bit much to look at the extents.

  • the samsung 32 cjg54 is around $500, is the price difference of $360 worth it vs this dell monitor.

  • Picked this up from Amazon just over a week ago for $699.

    • Same :)
A lot of other brands are a bit flimsy and washed out and people just look at the paper specs.

  • How is this one compared to ASUS TUF VG27AQ 27" 165Hz WQHD HDR10 IPS G-Sync?
I mainly use the monitor to play games on ps4.

    • Depends on whether you prefer IPS or VA, also the size you feel comfortable with for 1440p res. For 27" IPS, you should look at LG 27GL850 instead.

      • Thank you. I'll have a look.

How is this even a good deal at all lol

    240hz monitor for $350
    144hz monitor for $250

  • -1

806 is still way too much. Many monitors down to $450-500 use the same VA panel.
