  • Sorry i posted by mistake so overridden it with this message

  • Wasn't this just deleted by a mod as not allowed, two post ago. Exactly the same wording in the title.

    • Yes but it was because i used a "Referral"

If you have a look I included a "Friend referral" link, the Admin informed me that it was not allowed.

      • Yes, AJ is correct. Nothing to do with title.

        http://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:deal_posting_guidelineā€¦

People were continually posting group buy deals (Scoopon, Groupon etc.) with referrals. These deals were posted solely for the user to gain referral money and not because the deal was good. Once we enabled this rule, group buy postings were reduced to 1/3 of what they initially were. There is a method to the madness of the community rules around here.

      • Oh I see. Now I understand.

Contact them directly and you can get the same offer without needing to buy a 'scoopon' for it. Win/win for you and the diving school. The only one losing out is CatchoftheDay/Scoopon, which is another win in itself.

Good idea, FerretallicA. You may even be able to negotiate a better deal as the Dive company gets to keep all money instead of the split with Scoopon.

Beware of cheap learn to dive deals. Often dodgey operators that will put the hard sell on you to purchase gear on your course. Courses often take forever and plan on you not finishing to course. There is no way for them to make any profit at this price point without upselling you on expensive extras you may not need. Buyer beware.

      Is this from personal experience?

      • I can't speak for these guys, but I bought a scoopon earlier this year for Pro Dive Cronulla (at the same price). Apart from some difficulty booking it cause of availability issues, I actually had a pretty awesome experience doing the course with them. Yes, there was a bit of gear spruiking on their part, but I'd gladly pay the scoopon price again and sit through an hour of advertising.

But as the comment below says, beware as they do not seem to be on the PADI website. Pro Dive Cronulla at least is listed as a 5 Star Dive Center. Do these guys even have an address?

The price is very good, but I just checked on PADI's website and trueblue is not on the list…>.<

but with this price… its still good tho.

Does anyone seriously still trust Scoopon? Look at the group buy forum on this very site for all you need to know.

  • Does anyone have the Open Water Scuba Diver course manual? I'm doing mine with Pro Dive Cronulla today in the morning in a few hours and in all their emails they haven't attached it! Their info on their course says i have to study it before hand and bring it in on the first day but i have nothing! HELP PLEASE! DESPERATE!

  • Sorry, not me. I guess u have tried the Padi website, there is online learning there

  • This was posted a while ago, but just got back from a Tru Blu dive (its was a $50 refresher course). we got there and they guy turns up with 6 sets of equiptment and had booked 25 people in for today. was supposed to get 2 open water dives (about 40min each) but only got 1 15-20min dive. The company was very hard to get in contact with apparently all their information about dives is available only over facebook. We arrived at 8 (when we were told we should be there by), guy turns up late at quarter past. it was an hour and half until we actually did anything and all we did was swim in the rockpool nearby to assess our ability. then we have a 30min theory lesson (which was actually good, but the only good thing about the day). he then told us to come back in an hour because he had the rest of the group (20 people) who had never dived before. came back an hour later and they were only going into the water. basically the guy is very dodgy and very unorganised. He is no longer padi certified, and you will be lucky to get anything promised. we ended up having to wait 6 hours until we got our 20min dive.
