whenever I search the dell ebay store for the word "ultrasharp" during these sales I always get zero results

    • +8

Shoot their rep a message on ebay, I've had two items added to their store at my request so I can use these discounts.

      • +2

        I’m broke rn anyway.

      • If customers need to help them to do their job then it's not much of a system.

  • +3

Bought one for friend last time.
It's pretty good spec for $7xx, just the case feels a bit cheap and No USB-C port, I would prefer a black case if available.

    • +2

Not to mention it has a chin like Jay Leno… But for 800 bucks it's a decent machine

    • +1

Got myself Inspiron 14 couple of years ago - EOFY sale.
Repenting for more than a year now.

SSD died 9 months after. Due to 1 year extended warranty, Dell replaced the SSD, after almost a month.
The rep was pushing pretty hard for more extended warranty. I didn't bother.
Few months later battery shit the bed. Can't get more than 45 mins of web surfing on battery.

Worst part - my Windows have been filing since March 2019. Dell somehow has AMD drivers configured, even though there isn' a single AMD component on my i7.
If you have free time - read up this thread - https://www.dell.com/community/XPS/XPS-15-9750-with-PM951-Wi…

The only solution is doing a clean install after downloading installation media from Microsoft website, so that you can bypass the previous Windows version altogether.

Yeah, like I said - still repenting few hundred bucks that I saved in EOFY sale.

Not going to get another Dell for me or my family, ever.

      • Not to mention their customer support sucks

  • No Gigabyte Inthernet ??

    • +2

There is Gigabit Ethernet port, but no USB-C…a bit of bummer!
Duno why eBay photo has USB-C but not on DELL website:
      https://www.dell.com/en-au/shop/dell-laptops/inspiron-14-300…

      • Bit dodgy of Dell to show pictures on ebay with usb C port ( in description says only on model with video card ) and website also stating in digram port 6 to be USB C in description for discreet video model but actual photo shows a LAN port.

On their website, when they show specs for model with discreet video card model, no mention of USB C.

        • +1

Felt like Dell is a car manufacturer, "European/Oversea model shown"… we only get the sh!t one with same price.

  • +5

All the Dell gaming laptops and desktops deals are gone. Remember when you could get an entry level gaming laptop for under $1000?
    Cheapest is a G3 with i5 1660ti for $1443

    • Dang, had a friend who was interested in the G5 :/

      • -3

Can someone try to message and get g5 se 15 or g5 in stock at eBay?

        • +1

          you do it mate

        • I've sent a message to Dell and the Dell G5 15 laptops are now listed, but they are not at the discounted price as per Dell's wewbsite.

        • +1

I tried, but they said you were blacklisted.

    • Just had a look at that G3. Looks pretty good, better by nearly $200 than the EOFY sale on their website. Would you call it an OZB worthy deal? 1660Ti is a great card.

      • It would pair much better with an i7. Also I think you should get a G5 instead of a G3 at that price (better build)

    • In 2011? That's the last time I bought a laptop and it's still going though it has been through 2 batteries and a few thermal paste changes. These days it's good for everything except gaming despite the discrete GPU.

Had to be below $1k to write it off in a single year for tax purposes.

No backlit keyboard and a dull TN panel. A great gift for someone you hate.

    • And a flimsy body frame with uneven gaps.

    • +7

      me,me ,me!

    • +9

I mean I wouldn't complain is someone gifted me one

      • +2

Haha yeah I would gladly accept it as a gift. Just a bunch of whingers here.

      • Fine, just know that their motives are not pure.

  • +2

    I still preper the Lenovo E495 :)

    • How much is that one?

  • +1

Thanks OP. Was about to pull the trigger on regular site just for an office PC. $150 cheaper doing it this way for same specs. Inspiron over vostro but who cares?

    • Is Dell Vostro better than Inspiron?

In fact, I think Vostro look plastic and outdated.

      • Meh, they'll probably say that. Vostro is like a business model but I think they're much of a muchness. The vostro is SSF and this inspiron is not, but once again, I'm not worried.

        • Bought both Inspiron and Vostro for company, then realize it's the same sh!t, what they changed was the LCD Panel and "Worst-ro" at the panel, extra $150.

      • +1

I am not sure about present quality. I bought a Vostro 15-7570 a year and half ago, It is solid built and no complaints so far.

      • I'd say they are about equal, both have budget range 3000, mid range 5000 and high end 7000. Vosto 7000 and Insprion 7000 pretty much have the same chassis.

  • +2

Any deals on a low budget 17" laptop, OP? Looking for a basic big screen laptop for my mother so that she can watch her soap operas on it :)

  • +1

Is it worth the price considering Ryzen range ?

    • It's not - see below. I kinda wanna neg the deal to raise awareness, but not sure if that is fair/the right thing to do

  • +1

No XPS 15 2020 no deal

  • what's the warranty?

  • over 50+ for 2 units sold!

    • +1

I doubt i'm the only person who bought from this deal…

      As i bought two.

  • +9

You're better off going a Lenovo Ideapad Slim for the extra ~$120

AMD 4500U, 256GB NVME TLC SSD
    300nit Full HD Panel

    • +1

Would you mind share the link pls, I didn’t find the model at this price on Lenovo website?

    • +1

How do you get that Ideapad for $911? I don't have any student or education discount applicable here.

      • +1

        CUPOEOFY

I want to buy it, but the delivery time is a killer

        • It says "Sorry! eCoupon not found. Try again?"
Did miss anything here? How did you get this coupon?

          • @tonyyang: Try HONEOFY

            • @giventofly: Where do you apply this HONEOFY code on the Lenovo site? I can't see it on the order page.

              • @edfoo: It's there when you proceed to cart, right before you checkout - have a good look.

      • +2

        Yo,

        I used the HONEOFY code.

        IT's the IdeaPad 5 14ARE05
        4500U
        8GB Soldered RAM 3200
        256GB SSD

I added 2 YR On-site warranty for an extra $100 but if you remove that it's 911.75

The only negative is the 5 weeks delay due to high demand

        • I'm trying to do this with that discount code and base specs.
When I apply the code it resets the price to 1299 then subtracts a discount of 259 from that. Ends up at $1,039.20

          What am I missing?

          • @u9tvfr: Hi guys, curious about the codes too. I'm getting the same result as u9tvfr of 1039.20 with either CUPOEOFY and HONEOFY

EDIT: Checked further - maybe because the only version available now is 16GB, the 2 guys above bought 8GB versions?

          • @u9tvfr: Bugger, you're not doing anything wrong but they have increased the price by $100 since this morning.

    • +1

Seems solid and nicer build quality than this Dell. Review here

Beware of the soldered RAM though.

  • my 2c:
    - build quality is good, but rather heavy as far as 14 inch laptops go, on the larger side, too (look at those bezel width, this is straight clone of Latitude 3490)
    - screen colour reproduction is nothing to write home about
    - 1x1 WiFi which is meh

    • Probably the reason why the listing does not have pics of the screen…

      • +1

to give it justice, Latitude 3490 wich this is based on is a great laptop. probably the only 14-incher I know that allows me to have 2.5 SATA drive, NVME, 2 RAM slots, 56WH battery, LTE module, USB-C with charging - all at the same time. yeah weight approaches 1.9 kg in this configuration, but that's the ultimate machine right there. if only the body was a bit lighter

not sure how many corners Dell had to cut in this Inspiron model production. I know they removed USB-C for sure.

  • seems dumb af to buy intel for laptop nowadays seeing as new ryzens generate way less heat. But don't get me wrong, they make heaps of sense to use in a desktop PC with the right cooling.

  • Hmmm Hows the New Dell G5 15 5505 SE Laptop AMD Ryzen 7 4800H 16GB 512GB SSD RX 5600M 144Hz for $2,198.99 - $439.80 = $1759.19??
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-Dell-G5-15-5505-SE-Laptop-AM…

    • Decent price
      Any deals or coupons stack?

Also be aware that G5SE runs really hot ~100deg

      • This will be my first gaming laptop and if i plan to game for like a few hours each day does this temp affect health of the component ? i also heard that the speaker are really trash. Only the display makes it a better choice compared with asus tuf i think. Thank you

        • Yeah I think it almost certainly would. So def consider an extended warranty. Not only that but the keys get too hot to be comfortable to game with depending on loads.
It's a shame that these AMD 4xxx chips which are meant to be cooler than Intel have been put in laptops with sub optimal thermals, including the TUF15. So all the performance gains are lost.
The G5 SE for $1350 posted over the weekend would've been a good one to roll the dice on if it wasn't for the 60Hz screen.
I'm probably going to wait for better cooling solutions.

    • Looks like may be able to get it even cheaper via Dell with Shopback 14% cashback …1500ish?
      https://www.dell.com/en-au/shop/dell-laptops/new-dell-g5-15-…

  • I bought an i5 for my toddler to play around with.

  • a Dell Latitude is better, they are business class, they do not bend, and some are cheap.
Put in a bigger NVMe and some more RAM. I did that with mine. I put in a 1TB SSD NVMe and added an extra 8GB of RAM to make it 16GB of RAM.
I bought the E 747 with the touch screen and I put in a heat spreader when I put in the NVMe.
All up, it cost me close enough to $800. The battery was failing and the seller even sent me out a new battery, albeit a small one, but who cares, it still lasts hours with the software I downloaded from Dell to look after the battery and it looks after the charge rate as well. This E7470 replace my other Latitude E5500, and yes, it is still going, doing it's 24/7 private torrent tracker duty; I just re-booted it before, it ran no-stop for 16 days on 4GB of RAM with W10 x 64 as an OS, I should put in Mint one day.
