Cheapest on camelx3.

Doesn't have CL16 timings like the Crucial, but still 3600mhz ram and the price reflects it competitively.

  • I have samsung bdie corsair lpx 3000mhz

Should i sell that and get this instead?

    • this depends on your motherboard and CPU setup. There should be a manufacturers recommendation regarding ram speed for that product

  • -1

Should be the lowest price ever! Wait for 3200mhz though

    • waiting on 3200 for my Techfast PC…

      • -1

wouldn't 3600mhz be superior, and therefore be much more powerful and efficient?

        • Powerful, but not efficient. High clock speed ram requires more power to run. Besides, Mid range Ryzen only support speed up to 3200mhz. Anything more is just wasted potential

          • +4

@Marx: Midrange CPUs like 3300x and 3600 actually run best on 3600 cl16 or 18 ram.

        • +1

Difference is marginal. We're talking a few percent.

          • +5

@Zazer: Depends on who you ask, a few percent could be a huge deal. People pay crazy premium for intel platform ($250-350 extra 10600k vs 3600) just to get marginal performance gain. With that in mind, $20-30 extra on RAM is relatively inexpensive/efficient to get a little extra performance.

      • Nah if you can overclock I got my 2666 Techfast to 3733.

  • Some boards have a 3466mhz limitation.

    • Can clock the RAM at 3466 and reduce timings instead - something like 3466C15, depending on the sticks you get.

    • No… they don't. Anything above is considered an overclock, and all B-series and X-series (AM4) boards support overclocking therefore it does not have a limitation.

  • Can you buy two pairs and use them in one board?

    • Yes, but check the motherboard manual for technical limitations.

  • Damn.. good price!

  • would this go well with the 3700x or go for 32gb?

    • What will you be using your PC for?

      • +6

        game and porn
        but mostly gaming

        • +3

porn looks better with fast RAM.

        • +3

16GB will be enough for gaming. If you want an upgrade you could consider 16GB of 3600mhz cl16 if you can get it for a decent price.

  • op bought 2 pairs

  • This one is cheap due to this ram being model number CMK16GX4M2D3600C18. This is the ram that was tested, and is binned be the lowest of all the 3600 LPX, by that i mean the failed ones.

    • +3

please provide credible sources before making statements like this. by all accounts this ram may not be the best, but saying it's 'failed' without any evidence is just irresponsible.

      https://pcpartpicker.com/product/VNJtt6/corsair-16-gb-2-x-8-…

      • They're talking about binning lol. I.e. manufacturer tests the stuff (in this case RAM) and segments and sells it depending on what the product (RAM) is capable of. Capable of higher performance = higher end product with higher price.

It would be very surprising if it wasn't binned to some degree, although we don't know for sure exactly what the binning process is (i.e. this isn't necessarily a low end ("failed") 3600/C16 bin because we as not-the-manufacturer don't know that there even is specifically a 3600/C16 bin).

        • i understand what bin means in the context of ram. previous poster called it 'failed', and you agree it 'isn't necessarily low end failed'. so we are already on the same page here.

          • @plentifoo: its all tested to see if it reaches the lower latency and if it fails to achieve it is sold as the high latency ram ie cl16 is downgraded to cl18. If you want it call it binned, calibrated, checked, evaluted, assessed, whatever you want to call it, doesn't matter.

If you want to go for my grammar like this is a court of law, feel free, if it helps you

  • -1

Not to be rude but cl16 vs cl18, means nothing in real life. This is nearly half the cost of cl16 g.skill neo. This will benchmark at nearly the same score min up to 3% difference for $80-90 in savings.

  • $119 on eBay for the ripjaws v, au stock if you want it quick. Ebay plus only

    Edit: apologies it’s only 3200mhz

  • I have an ASUS K501J laptop. Currently showing 3 GB of RAM running Ubuntu 18.04. I would like to upgrade the memory to 16 GB. Would this memory work in a 10 year old laptop? Or is is there much cheaper memory available? How about second hand? Is there any good videos or websites how to go about doing this?

    • +1

No it won’t work, This is desktop RAM you will need SO-DIMM ram for your laptop, also likely to need DDR 3 or DDR 2 without googling your laptop model.

      • Any ideas where I can get this cheap? Thanks.

    • +1

      https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/asus/k50ij

You need DDR2 SODIMM ram so most likely second hand market is your best bet. Also does not appear your laptop can support more than 4 gb ram in total.

      • Ah really, only 4GB. Maybe I jumped the gun upgraded from Ubuntu 16.04 to 18.04. She's running slower now. The last version showed 3 GB RAM. I wonder if the extra GB would be worth it? Thanks.

      • Also would there be enough slots available to put that 1 GB in?

  • Bought this RAM last week. Currently running at 3400mhz on a Ryzen 2600 and B450. This is the max speed with this combo I think, running fine. Will drop a Ryzen 3600 in later in the year which should bring it up to 3600mhz.
