[eBay Plus] Apple AirPods (2nd Gen) with Charging Case $99 Delivered @ Titan Gear eBay

23853
PMRL84

Looks like a second round for the Airpods. Starting at 10am 5pm on 17 June.

Most likely three drops again - 10am, 2pm, 6pm.

The same promo code was used twice for the Airpods Pro for $249 deal. Most likely the same code from the 1/6 will be used for this deal.

For those after TLOU2 tomorrow at 10am, I'm guessing that it will be this item.

Mod Update 16/06: Appears to be only a single 5pm Drop for the Apple Airpods - 900 units available according to banner from email

  • $49 + $99 is an expensive lottery ticket to win Airpods

    • +3

Good thing deal is not for lottery tickets

    • +3

Unless you really want them than don't try will sell out in a matter of seconds.

      • What do you mean?

    • +2

Ebay plus has a free trial so no you are not spending $49. Why the $99? If you’ve spent $99 on the AirPods, what makes it a ‘lottery ticket’? I for one have enjoyed these ebay deals and made a few of these purchases over the years.

      • +15

This should be in the competitions page not deals page.

        • +3

100% agreed, the headline suggests a deal, the reality is a minimal chance (not an actual ongoing available price)

          • @rwps: If you know the game it's not exactly a lottery, but eBay have realised the players and made it only a single drop today, which makes it a bit more of a lottery but it only costs time not money

  • What do you think the Ecovac will sell for on Tuesday?

  • I had a suspicion that they would do it on Wednesday another AirPods get 2, likely something good for the last 2 Wednesdays as well as another 99c deals x 3 Deals later this month

  • Here we go again

  • Targeting 10am drop

  • :( still haven’t received mine from the first day of the deals! Though more of an Aus Post issue than Titan Gear to be fair

    • Really? I got mine on next day after they shipped

      • Yeh I’m in Perth so I expected it to take a little longer but others in Perth have theirs so bit of an issue with Australia post, arrived in Perth on Thursday the 4th tracking says expected between 11th of June and 16th of June so Aus Post won’t touch it just yet sadly. It says signature required too so don’t think they can just leave it!

        I’m sure it’ll all work out :-)

        • Hope you can get your Airpods soon!

  • Will it be the same seller?

    • +2

yep for 99.9% and it could be the same code again, possibly. PMRL84

  • +5

Oohhh yeah. Sign me up for some sweet sweet disappointment.

    • Yeah I tried. I concur with the others: it is a big waste of time.

Had to excuse myself to the toilet at work. Had tabs open on both Chrome and Firefox on my phone, and spammed the Refresh button.
At exactly 5pm, it opened and I was able to hit Buy It Now. But stupid phone asked me to re-sign in on both browsers.
Managed to get it into my Cart, and Copy Paste the code into the voucher section.
Then it asked for PayPal to sign in. Managed to get that done, and into the Cart, and hit Buy Now.

Basically at 5.00pm and 30sec, all 900 units were sold out. I'm thinking bots are to blame here. As regular people would be also struggling to buy in the 10-30 second timeframe.

In hindsight, I could have tried 2 mins before the 5pm window to re-sign in eBay and also sign-in with PayPal by "fake buying" and cancelling the order. Then I might have had a better shot. It was not possible to Add to Cart beforehand, I tried to, as that would've made things a couple seconds faster.

PS: I'm sure there's now a couple thousand eBay plus memberships, remember folks to cancel it before the end of the month!

      • -1

If you click Buy it Now does it still let you apply the code?

        • It still requires you to re-enter the voucher code.

  • +2

Been trying for 2 years to get 1 set of airpods. No luck :(

    Any suggestions?

    • Try hard at 10am drop

    • +2

Be quick to get it into your cart at the 10am drop, if you don’t get it keep the checkout screen open for the next drop and spam the Confirm & Pay button for 5 minutes starting 1 minute before the drop starts. And pray!

    • +14

Ignore these deals, and just buy some AirPods.

Enjoy listening to them with all the free time you’ve just gained by not bothering with stuff that is more of a lottery than a deal,

    • Same here

    • +1

If you want my honest suggestion, you won't get a pair unless you run a bot to get them for you

  • Will be sold out faster than you can get your creds in.

Then flipped for a quick $50 profit.

  • +1

For those who want extra chance on getting these
Set up a macro if you know how to use them. This will automatically click your tab, paste the code and click purchase in less than 0.1 second as long as you have the discount code copied.
You can probably auto the code copying process as well if you try.
This macro option is usually found in your gaming keyboard or mouse software but you can get free software online.

    • Which one are you using?

      • Razer Synapse which came with my Deathadder gaming mouse

    • +3

      zOMG Aimbot! ;)

  • Grabs a popcorn

  • +28

Marks this competition and Unplish it as well as item is already out of stock.

It will be OOS forever as most of the people already have it in their cart from the previous deal.

No point of posting this as a deal.
    Absolute waste of time

      • +8

The amount is ok, but it won't be fair crack for everyone. Mostly the same people getting them again and again… until Ebay stop letting people create new trial accounts so that they get another Airpod for their brother, mother, relative's ex-partner, neighbour's daughter's work-colleague's best friend's dog…

        • -5

Or ever worse, those who claim multiple and sell them for a profit! Fair point, although I still believe that if you are smart about it (by understanding the strategies of how to be quickest) everyone with a decent PC can get one. By no means is it easy, but neither should it be given the price.

          • +8

@Phil22: Nah everybody knows the trick now. It’s well documented. The pro last weds I did that tactic all the way from 10am for 2 and 6. No dice. Its the same people going back for more and double dipping with new accounts.

If they did one drop at 10am with new code that would stop most of that and bs adding in cart fluffying around.

      • +1

If it was 600 in ONE drop then that would be better. No double dipping and your regular non-ozbargainer may also stand a chance.

  • So do these work with samsung galaxy s20?

    • Not quite

      • So what can’t it do for androids?

        • +4

          well..

          1. Airpods proximity sensor won't work when paired with Androids (auto stop/start)
          2. Siri to control volume won't work when paired with Androids, obviously.
          3. Remaining battery won't show up when paired with Androids, you can use 3rd party App for this (AirBitts)
          4. Sometimes you would experience bad battery life when paired with Androids.
          5. You cannot change the setting for Double tab feature. (You can do it via iOS device)
          6. You might also experience connection dropouts when paired with Androids. (sometimes)
          7. Firmware update might be an issue too when paired with Androids. (you will need iOS device for updates)
          • @Dalgona456: Apparently an app called assistant trigger helps achieve most of these..

          • +3

            @Dalgona456: My Experience:

            1) Solved with Assistant Trigger
            2) Use Google Assistant
            3) Solved with Assistant Trigger
            4) Never had the issue
            5) Partially solved with Assistant Trigger
            6) Agreed though think this is more to do with the airpods than device used
            7) Agreed

    • +1

      yes indeed!

  • +4

This will garner more positives if it weren't for bots and those who got previously. So to those peeps GTFO.

  • Will TLOU2 arrive on launch date?

  • +5

Dam knives sold out in 3 mins! Pointless ebay plus membership!

    • +8

3 mins was pretty long enough for a chance dont u think?

      • +12

Maybe by ozB definition, but definitely not for the average consumers.

    • -1

Wow, I managed to pick up a set. I was ready at exactly 4 and was very quick in paying with PayPal etc. I did however hesitate before because I thought it was $310 and didn't see the code at first. I added the code and then did the PayPal and then it said code no longer valid. I re-applied the code and it took it so I completed the sale. Nice set of knives for $199. Got a confirmation from the seller.

  • +2

For those that tried the first time and failed, you can load your cart from Chrome browser history and spam the confirm button at 10 am.

    • Explain plz

      • U can load the ebay shopping cart from Chrome Browser history. If the deal comes back, it will be the same code. As long as it's applied. You just need to spam the confirm button when it's next back in stock.

        • Actually "U can load the ebay shopping cart from Chrome Browser history" is the part I'm not sure how to go about.

          • @freewhere: Go to History and look for something like payment.ebay… Or checkout.ebay… Sorry can't remember the specific URL. Perhaps another Ozbargainer can help u out.

  • +1

Goodluck to everyone trying to get a pair. If you can beat the bots you most definitely deserve to get them :)

  • +26

Not a deal as insufficient stock. These deals are arguably contravening the Section 35 Bait advertising of Australian Consumer law. They carry wholly insufficient stock for the nature of the market and the prominent way in which they are advertised on the Ebay front page when they get more than 67 million visits per month. The fact they sell out within seconds is also testament to this.

    • -4

Does this mean every item listed on Ebay must hold more than 67 million stock to be considered as proper advertising?..

      • +25

No one said that. If you are advertising a deal in such a prominent way you are required to have adequate stock for the market in which it is advertised. A few hundred units is clearly not adequate stock. it is blatant bait advertising to get you on the website and hope you buy something else.

No different than if a physical retail shop did bait advertising with inadequate stock to get you in store.

        • +3

Yet Aldi does it every week.

          • +7

            @Quickshot: Aldi doesn't charge $49 entry

          • +9

@Quickshot: got better chance of getting an aldi special buy item than this deal

            • @pinkybrain: The last aldi special buy (office chair) wasn't stocked at all in our stores and I checked 4 stores. Staff confirmed it didn't arrive.
But I agree it's bait advertising.
That's also the reason I complained to aldi, but they just ignore and don't bother to respond.

  • This or loot boxes?

  • +16

Can we have a filter for this type of "deal"when its intentionally designed as a lottery and non-credible quantity? Should be with the competitions etc.

    • +3

I agree. I'm not interested in "deals" where it's a game of skill and NBN speed. This is not a bargain.

  • +17

complete waste of time. flippers with no life and bots always get them.

at the very least stop people who have already bought from buying again, and stop accounts created after deal was announced from buying. they can't even do this…

  • +1

    not again…..

  • -2

Just dropped my redmi airdrops (oh dear $32) and then shoved them in my ear and they felt like I was in a nightclub years ago.

  • +9

    waste of time

  • +10

    Not a deal

  • +1

Would have been better Ebay ask people to register for interest and make a random draw for winners.

  • +7

Bait and switch advertising - There are significantly less units than the retailer would expece to sell at this price. History has shown this time and time again with these type of 'deals' on eBay. Basically a competition where you have to pay if you win.

  • great, thanks OP! Already got pro, wouldn't mind getting another one for $99

  • +9

    Waste of time.!

  • +7

Always picked up by bots. Sick of seeing this "deal" pop up.

  • +1

One of those impossible to get deals

  • Because of the nature of my job I always have to do it on my mobile via the app, a number of times I have been able to add them in my cart applied the code but couldn't get them, as everyone says that they kept them in their cart for the next drop, but for me the cart refreshes and becomes empty so I never had a chance to use my pre-filled cart for the next drop, any suggestions

    • +1

As far as i know, no one has successfully make a purchase of airpods on the mobile app. Would using the ebay website on your phone instead of the app work? It may remain in your cart. I'm not too sure myself.

    • Can you hotspot to a laptop for about 2mins?

      • No laptops available during work, I remain on road most of the times

  • +8

eBay will be going the way of Yahoo! soon

  • -1

Time to pick up another pair for a relative. Thanks OP.

ps. This can be easily obtained without bots, just a little of bit of smart.

    • I tried to get a second pair of the pros but wasn't able to use the same code twice

  • +10

No deal. Just bait for their ebay plus on sell.

  • -2

If you already got one pair last round with that code you won't be able to buy another right? Don't want to sound greedy but my wife can also use a pair.

    • +11

Yeh that’s greedy. But that’s Whats Everyone else is doing anyways
