Optus Variant - probably means it comes loaded with bloatware but can't confirm if its network locked or not.

Be careful. Sometimes optus cripples other bands not used by their network.

Please note: This unlocked phone includes full manufacturer’s warranty and features Optus network branding. This means that the phone is not locked to a specific carrier but may come pre-installed with Optus applications. Additionally, when you power on the device, the Optus logo may display.

This has been discussed in other posts and still nobody can provide actual proof of bands being crippled.
Also if you go into the specs on Optus prepaid phones on their website you can see all the bands are there.

nothing is crippled on the phone, it has the same specs as the others. You start it up and get the optus logo and mine had the optus yes app installed and one other thing, easy to disable.

        • Cheers

Yes I know. Here are the bands for reference. Copied from Optus.

          3G Network WCDMA/HSPA/HSPA+:B1(2100)/B5(850)/B8(900)
          4G Network LTE FDD: B1(2100)/B3(1800)/B5(850)/B7(2600)/B8(900)/B28(700) TD-LTE: B38(2600)/B40(2300)/B41(2600)

Also the 1st line in the HN description says it's unlocked.

  • Doesn't even have Bluetooth v5.

Seems to only have updates to android 9

    • +1

      Or nfc?

    • Doesn't have 5Ghz WiFi either apparently

      • wtf.

        • Yeah, this phone missed out on a lot of basic things. My mother got one because she liked the colour, in the end that was about the only thing she liked about it (she particularly hated the no NFC), and ended up switching it for an S10 Plus.

    • Bluetooth V5 is definitely a deal breaker. Most people use this as compared to NFC.

  • If it's Huawei, does it have Google services? I've lost track of what's avaiable/banned at the moment.

    • +1

Yeah it's based on original release date. This phone is from 2018 so all good.

    • +2

it should, it was released prior to the mess

    • i believe even p30 range still has google service but later version then no idea…

any1 know how this phone compare to p30 lite???

  • +2

I used this phone in the past and enjoyed using it. The Micro USB charger is old tech though.

    • +1

but charges pretty fast still. I have this phone and works quite well for every basic needs apart from NFC. Great at $277

      • +1

        even better at $227 ;)

        • +1

hahahaha oops mis-read that. Guess i'm getting another new phone for the parents :)

  • LMAO@ HArvey norman suck comment!!!!

  • NFC?

  • anyone compare this phone to p30 lite before? which better???

  • This or Oppo A52?

    • For the A52:

      • NFC
      • Band 28
      • BT 5.0
      • Better audio quality
      • Has 5GHz Wifi AC
      • Significantly bigger battery
      • LiPo battery
      • Faster fast charging
      • Better quality screen
      • Newer version of Android
      • UFS storage is faster
      • USB-C
      • Newer

      For the Nova 3i:

      • More storage space
      • Fairly cheap when on sale
      • The processor is somewhat comparable in terms of performance (but I think the SD 665 is slightly better).
      • aptX

There's probably other stuff I missed. I don't really know how the camera(s) compare. I would go the A52 when it's on sale.

      • Cheers mate that's super helpful! Have a good weekend
