  • Just in time for the PS5 announcement this Friday morning. They recommend you use headphones.

Calling it now, new Kratos ASMR channel announcement.

thanks for sharing the love mate…

      Why even bother typing?

From what I can see on his profile, its one of the only things he likes to share on Ozbargain.

how would the Sony WH-1000XM3 fare against something like this for gaming?

    • -3

Check the review of this headset on youtube. Quite a good review

    • i tired to use thm on the PS4 and they sound good but you need to use the cord as the cordless/bluetooth won't work. also you can't use the built in microphones for chat.

    • Bluetooth latency is not good for FPS and games where timing is important.

  • I used the wired one with my Xbox, pretty happy with it for the price.

I ended up buying the HyperX Cloud II these are an insane headset

    • Why?

      • Highly recommended by a lot of elite gamers + 7.1 is a nice add on for movies etc im referring to the Cloud II range as they are on special as well and selling out fast

  • Used this wirelessly on pc for the past 2 years and it's been perfect. Good battery life, comfortable, no latency for gaming.

Only thing after 2 years of moderate-heavy use is that the faux leather ear pads started to flake but not too hard to buy some replacement earpads off ebay.

    • They have a detachable mic right? Are there any crosstalk issues with the mic? Asking this since the hyperx cloud alpha had crosstalk issues given that it comes with a detachable mic. Thx.

      • I wonder how this compares to the Alpha and whether it's a worthy upgrade?

        • +3

I own both and to sum up my experiences:

Cloud Alpha - The best sounding headphones I've ever owned. The sound and build quality is amazing and the ear cups are super soft and comfy. Do not regret.
Cloud Flight - Fixed the one thing I wanted from the Alpha, wireless capability. Sound, build and ear cup comfort not as amazing as the Alphas but not bad either. No where near as good audio quality.

Each is missing the others strengths.

I use the Alpha for music/movies and the Flight for gaming.

        • Alpha is superior in almost every way except it is wired. Wired headsets will always be much higher quality than their wireless counterparts within the same price range.

      • Detachable MIC - yes
Have never had cross talk issues - owned for over a year

Anyone know how these compare with the ARCTIS 7?

    • +1

I got the artics 7's. Rate them. Check out the headband strap first as some people dont like that aspect of them, I think its fine though. I also have wired HyperX Cloud II's. They are really good quality as well, although I read somewhere they are just rebranded Sennheiser's though. So the quality of this model could be completely different.

  • Good battery life, decent sound, no lag, lasts the advertised 30 hrs with led off. Takes 3.5-4 hrs to charge from 0% battery.

Only major downside for me is the lack of mic monitoring/sidetone so I find myself talking very loudly.

    • +1

Can't you just enable, monitoring in windows settings?

      • Couldn't get used to it. There's about a 0.5-1sec delay in hearing my voice. Native sidetone should have instant feedback.

Just noticed a new revision Cloud Flight S and it comes with sidetone so glad to see they've addressed that issue. Only $339 at PCCG :/

        • Ahh okay, it did take a bit of getting used to I must say. Some say it's very similar to a speech jammer app.

        • I did this in windows and had no lag at all. Odd.

    • I think you should be able change this in your sound settings (On Windows at least) & for my headset you can adjust the gain on hearing yourself too.

      • Software is very basic for these, no side-tone control.

  • I have the wireless version (USB Dongle non-Bluetooth) version of it, which is compatible with PS4/PC and have been loving it so far of work calls and minor gaming. Currently out of stock. https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/hyperx-cloud-stinger-wire…

  • I have one of these. Comfortable, sound is pretty great but difficult to update the firmware. Needed to update as the volume was a little low on the earlier firmware iterations. Their firmware update software is trash, and can lead to bricking of dongle or headset. Also, the microphone is rather average (not horrible but man they could have done way better), and aftermarket ones need to be of a very specific size. Bought one from Amazon US, thing buzzed like crazy (acknowledged as an issue by the seller, got a full refund luckily). The only other thing is the distance. If you leave your room, you're lucky to get about 10m in range. Other than that, would happily spend another 1000 hours gaming with them. Works a treat on the PS4, no complaints.

  • Z reviews on YouTube looked at these about a month ago. Positive, missing some details on how it is tonally (I'm looking for good low end rumble), but all in all these are now comparable to USA pricing. May get a pair.

    • He highly recommended a pad change, but that dude is in it for the referral revenue. He's a sensationalist, not a proper reviewer.

The only time he dumps on something is when he's certain he'll lose clout.

  • These will go on sale for significantly cheaper on Prime Day next month. JB are just trying to skim a little extra margin before then.

Don't even bother with the Alphas.

    • I have seen a few articles pointing to prime day being moved to Septermber'ish. Any reason to think this specific item would be cheaper? Seems to be EOL and clearing stock.

      • Feel free to click the model page up on the top right to see the price history, including some deals that I've posted.

At one point in December, they could have been had for $118.

        • Thanks, I'll check it out when on a desktop

  • I bought the cloud flight s and they have horrible static/white noise. Do these have the same problem?

    • That's pretty common for bluetooth and wireless headphones that aren't receiving audio and haven't yet automatically shut down in response to that. It can be audibly tuned down by the manufacturer, and some of the interference causing it can be reduced in the construction of the headphone, but otherwise it is what it is.

      Some things you can do:

      • Don't use it near a microwave that's in use
      • Don't use it near some DECT phones
      • Test changing your WiFi band to see if that decreases the issue

All of these work around the idea that there's interference on the 2.4GHz spectrum the headset is tuned to. After you try changing the router settings, power off your headphones so they can try and pair again with less interference.

No where near as bad as the Flight S. I Bought the S as an upgrade to the flights, sent them back due to the horrible hiss. Original Flights I can't even notice the very faint hiss, as jasswolf mentioned all wireless headsets have.

  • So Cloud Alpha or Cloud Flight?
    PC gaming mainly…

    • It's a very easy decision…
      Do you need wireless?
      Yes? - Cloud Flight
      No? - Cloud Alpha

The Alphas beat the Flight in all areas … except wireless functionality.

    • Alpha if your okay with wired.

      • Sounds good. Alpha it is

        • How are you liking the alphas?

          • @varg: Much better than the HP OMEN I got. I can use Smart DAC on my mobo to amplify the sound. Couldn't with the HP OMEN as it was USB powered. Also picked them up for $83…
