Good sound but not having Bluetooth I'd a bit eh

    • does it as loud as wired headsets ?

      • +1

Haven't used the act is 1 so no comment on the loudness but since it uses the same drivers as the 7 I imagine it should.

  • is there a significant difference between this and the arctis 7?

    • Looks like build quality and mic are better with the 7. Also the 1 doesn't support surround sound

To each their own, the 7 sucks. I have it and I've never paid that much for headphones before and I'm pretty dissapointed with them, mainly with their ergonomics. If I rock my head forward with fairly low force they fall straight off and sit weird nomatter how I adjust them.

        • +5

I love my set, use them everyday. Never had an issue with them falling off (or even moving around) on my head

          • +1

@FireRunner: If you stick them on your head and do a small jolt forward they dont slide to the front of your head and become really uncomfortable? I've seen their reps on Reddit saying that you can 'bend' the metal to make it fit your head shape better, but the fact they even acknowledged you can do that to try and make it more comfortable is not indicative of the 260AUD pricetag

            • +1

@Scantu: Nope, fits my head well. A small jolt forwards doesn't move them. Doing a little harder I can see what would happen which would be really annoying. I guess it depends on your head shape and size.

              • @FireRunner: Yeah true. Kind of put me off buying expensive audio stuff in the future to be honest so it's a shame.

        • You must have a weird head I own the 7s and they the best headphones I've ever owned

          • @chris666: I don't think so - its pretty standard shape. I hate the feeling of that metal bar being poorly suspension hung by a velcro strap piece of elastic, just feels cheap.

        • Just adding another data point; really happy with my 7s.

Own both the 7 and the 1. Find the 7 more comfortable for longer term usage, and the microphone tucking into the headphones is more convenient than the detachable one. Mute button a little bit more convenient, and the wheel for adjust voice/game split is certainly handy. Also able to use both the custom cable + a 3.5mm cable if you want to listen to two sources at once (but, 2 cables)

But, the reason I grabbed the 1s was for the USB-C Transmitter that works with the switch and my pixel 2. So if that's a relevant feature, you'll want these (or look somewhere else altogether)

  • Would HIGHLY recommend staying away from Steelseries. I've bought 3 Steelseries products in the past, all of them have broken.

    1. Bought a $450+ headset (Wireless H, AKA Siberia 800) which broke after about a year (no longer connects wirelessly) — Filed numerous requests for replacements. Never got a refund or replacement of any kind.

    2. Bought a mouse (Steelseries Kana) which broke in a matter of a few months, (mouse 1 button failed and can no longer be pressed unless you really forcably press it hard)

    3. Bought a Steelseries Arctis 7 headset which I currently use on a daily basis. Unfortunately the sound in the left earcup gets static and is roughly 25% volume which is only fixed if I turn the volume on the headset all the way to full.
The sound quality is also mediocre for headphones at this price point, and the "ski strap" strap has stretched to the point where the frame just rests on my head anyway, making the "ski strap" a consumable that will need replacing I guess.

TL;DR Steelseries products are no better than a cheap Chinese wholesale product. And there support is in line with this level of quality.

If you're considering spending $100+ on a pair of headphones, go with an entry-level product from a known audio brand like Sennheiser, Audio Technica, Bose, etc. you'll get a lot more bang for your buck. And if you must insist on going with a "gaming" company (which I don't recommend most of the time) go with a more reliable time-tested company like Logitech.

Wow, I’ve heard some complaints about Steelseries quality control but it sounds like you’ve gotten really unlucky.

      • I thought the same thing the first 2 times, but after my experience with the Arctis 7's, I'm done with Steelseries, and I think all astute gaming peripheral consumers would agree. (I really hate to sound elitist here, but I'm trying to be as accurate as I can here for others' sake)

If you're skeptical of what I'm saying (which you should be) check out what reddit in general has to say about the Arctis 7 headset: (or try the same search for any other steelseries product)

        • I’ve only ever owned one Steelseries product which is the Arctic’s 7. I am really happy with it. The audio quality is great, only complaint is bass could be stronger not that I really mind. Maybe I just got lucky instead

    • I'm no shill or anything but you sound like you've been pretty unlucky. As a counter point ive got a few steel series products (keyboards, mice, headset and mousepad) and they've all worked with the only issue being how fast my keyboards keycaps faded, but it was to be expected for the price.

    • I only have a steelseries rival 110 which is a relatively cheap mouse in the market ,known to have only a decent build quality but it has lasted for almost two years now, still feels like new to me too.
I agree with the other comment whereby you are indeed really unlucky or you might be a little too rough with these products XD

I got the artics 7 headset and have been pretty happy with it tbh

  • damn i really want the 7 to go down in price too

otherwise which is the peoples choice for best FPS wireless gaming headset [gotta hear those positional footsteps]

im using a urbanite xl which is ok but i feel in modern warfare im not getting those clear footstep sounds come through

    • I'm interested in this too. Currently have a philips shp9500 and hyper x cloud 2 which both work great for footsteps but I wouldn't mind upgrading to something wireless as the cable can get in the way when using my racing sim and stuff.

  • Really enjoyed my Arctis 5 headset for the lightweight comfort and materials, but unless you are generally quite loud and well spoken i would 100% suggest you avoid Steelseries as the Microphone is very quiet.
