    are they any good?

    • +5

Bought a set about 6 months ago and they do the job fine. Bosch Aerotwins look nicer and feel smoother but also cost 20x more

    • details!

    • So so. I find the metal backing keeps poking out, but I can't tell if thats from the wipers or the crows

    • it's $2, buy first then ask question

  • any hint on which store has stock 24 and 20 inch? tried several and no luck…

    • byron bay, lismore, dalby

  • damnit, literally bought a new set for my daughter like 48 bux a week ago >:|

    • +2

buy it again and return the new ones with the old receipt?

      • +1
        1. not this brand,
        2. bought the other ones from super cheap.
        3. she doesn't live with me,
        4. more than 40 bux in effort,
        5. i may not even be able to find the blades she needs on sale anyways.
          (6. and potentially "somewhat" dishonest.)
  • How do I check stores around me on this site? Seems like I can check only one store at a time

  • +1

I've had Bosch Aerotwin for the past 10 years on both of my cars and are still going strong. Only do the usual wipe down when washing the cars. Sure they cost me $40 but it's well worth it.

    • +1

so you are still using the same wiper from 10 years ago without any issues?

      • +1

My car is now 20 years old and the original wipers are still fine.

I think having the car garaged all its life makes the biggest difference, all the rubbers and dashboard etc are like new.

        • +2

wow… I use OEM blades and I still have to change it every 1-2 years, do you drive your car during sunny days outside? Best I have had for a wiper was 5 years but even then towards the end it was making all sorts of squeeky sounds.

          • +3

@OpayuOnam: Yeah I used to drive it to work daily but always parked in underground parking so I guess it was never exposed too often to peak sun.

I don't drive it as much for the last 10 years as I cycle or take the train to work.

        • The original stuff is absolute mint anyways in most cars. These can't even come close.

      • +1

Well coming to 11 years but yes they are still on my car. And both cars sit outside all day all night ungaraged. Giving them a clean during car washes probably helps.
Edit: i just looked and receipt is showing a bit more than i said i paid. So $50 for both wipers back in 2010.

        • Any good deals on the Bosch Aerotwins nowadays?

          • @Gaz1: Just get them Costco ones. They are fine for most plebs.

            • +1

@Naigrabzo: Last time I used the Costco ones they started squeeking noise in less than 6 months. Didn't try them again.

  • No stock in Byron Bay….this often happens

    • Really small shopfront in Byron. Have you tried Tweed Heads?

  • -5

Sorry…don't want to drive there for wiper blades. Thanks anyway mate.

  • I used a similar looking cheap one in the past from Supercheap. The arm broke off at the ball joint whilst operating, the exposed arm then scratched a huge circular mark into my windshield.

Pretty sure it's the same brand. Wouldn't recommend at all.

    • Woah….

      • Yeah happened during heavy rain, had shit all visibility.

  • my front driver blade is 26" / 650mm

    will the 24" one work?

    • no

      • +1

Why not? Smaller should still work (just with reduced wiping area), bigger might not be a good idea if it hits the windscreen frame or the other wiper?

    • +1

I swapped my 26" / 650/660mm? assembly for a 24". Reduced wiping area a little, but some pairs of replacement blades were only 610mm, now I can use them.

  • I thought they only deliver within 5km from the store, isn't it ?

    • +1

I think that is only applicable to same day delivery

      • just missed it while reading the delivery info then

  • don't think there are any stores left with stock, I've tried quite a few.

  • +1

Log into Ignition Rewards during checkout for $4.95 delivery, which may make it worth ordering individually from separate stores.

I ordered them 5 months ago and had to spend ages looking for a single store that had stock of both lengths I needed. Would be nigh on impossible now I expect. Good luck.

  • +1

yeah buy it to replace what you have but also buy the wiper slicer for $2 slices the rubber blade to get the nibs out.. get 5-7 times longer use out of it.

    • -1

Link please? I searched "wiper slicer" on the repco website and no results. Or do you mean from another store?

    • Explain more pls?

      • It's not on the site, just google wiper blade cutter or slicer. There should be plenty on amazon. Keep it in the glove compartment.

        • Yeah, I realised. The reviews I've read are not great for those doodads.

  • Apparently these are not great at higher speeds

    https://www.wipertech.com.au/blog/which-wiper-blades-are-theā€¦

This is the type of wiper you'll see on most pre-2005 vehicles and sometimes comes as standard equipment on cheaper new cars. It's an old-school design, and not particularly effective at high speeds as wind can get caught in the spaces in the frame.

These blades also tend to be susceptible to rust and corrosion as they're made from exposed metal. They're your cheapest option, and if you're not particularly concerned about your wipers or you're looking for something where you can manually swap out refills, this is one to consider. However, most car owners should steer clear.

  • Holy cow that's what they actually cost… a few years ago I had a car service, they charged me $100 for "replacing the screen wipers".

    • +1

LOL. They wiped ya bank account. Max would be $25 including labour which is about 2 minutes.

  • The stock is so low, is it even worth posting? can't see any store has it in WA?

    • Rough, can't find any in SA either.

Even the refills seem to be out of stock

    • +2

Nah not worth posting. Neither are most Amazon deals that get sold out within the first few minutes.

      • To be fair, Amazon check out is super quick, definitely had more chance getting some. Most of the clearance at SCA is like lottery, probably less than 10 in the whole country.

        • But this is Repco

          • +1

@pyr0maniac: Lol bought too many things from SCA recently, it's all SCA in my mind. Having said so, same argument, and repco definitely even worse than SCA in the online shopping experience

  • Received my 18 incher today. Covered in dust - probably from sitting on the store shelves for years!
