  • Bit over $1000 to get this done professionally (maybe $12-1300 or so) - with interior treatment too….

Thoughts compared to doing it oneself?

Car with 15,000km, very few chips/marks and metallic paint. They said they'd fix those chips too in that….

Not teally the same product category so difficult to compare them.

The professional ceramic coating is a far more permanent product that will last years if maintained well.

This however would need to be reapplied every few months if regularly rained on.

Both mean easy cleaning with high pressure water and paint protection.

      • Thanks, definitely thought this wouldn't last the years that could…

Will it get rid of any swirl marks? That was the thing that impressed me most with the professional job.

FYI My car had initial paint protection from new when I purchased 4.5 years ago.

No this won’t fix swirls. You’d need a compound polish to remove swirls.

@Skramit: Thanks, would you suggest that on such a new good condition car? Or would there be VERY light variants?

I've done all that in the past, but with older cars so less of a concern, and non metallic.

        • No way a on the shelf product could last years. It does a good job of hiding some swirls but if you want to get rid of them, machine polish it before applying wax, even multiple coats if you're serious. If you haven't got all that time, then let a professional detailer does it for you.

@itstuan: I'm happy to do it, just weary about a metallic paint over a more typical one and any potential long term effects….

My car is actually quite unique so don't wanna butcher it, I was very prepared to get the professional but I know I could get 90% of the result for a fraction of the price.

            • @scuderiarmani: If your car is unique, get a more professional products and apply it yourself. A couple of friends recommended C Quartz, being used by professional detailer. It will last years if you apply correctly.

    • Negged for asking questions… seriously.

This may be cheaper at repco with discounts this weekend.

    • Currently $46. What discounts is repco having?

NRMA club card gets 35% of meguire's products, so $30.54 for me at checkout with that added. But obviously limited to people that have membership only..

        • Ah ok.

        • I just got this from Supercheap. Anyone knows if I can return it back to Supercheap as change of mind?

This stuff is great. After a proper detail of my car and proper application of this, water is still beading off my car three months later.

    • Absolutely agree. Expensive but works a treat. The first application should be done after washing and drying your vehicle but only takes a few minutes to do then buff off lightly with a towel and your set. After that first application you just do what they say on the bottle - every couple of months simply spray over lightly after washing and rinse off before hand drying with a microfibre towel. Brilliant.

  • Why the obsession for having water bead off the car like crazy?

    • +4

Makes cleaning a breeze with a hose and helps bird poo etc just slide off with no effort.

    • beads make the girls go nuts!

      • +2

to the contrary, I've only noticed my slick beads being noticed by other car detailing guys 😂 any attempt at pointing them out to the partner results in rolling eyes

        • +2

Indeed, Your slick beads bring all the boys to the yard 👍🏼

I prefer Turtle Wax Seal and Shine. Very happy with it. Topped with Bowdens Lazy Wax and every few months a coating of AG Polar Seal. Very tight beads, easy cleaning and amazing shine.

+1 for the turtle wax one. I got it for $30. Great product.

Based on the comments from the review, for dusty locations like mine, HCW (this product) seems to be the best…

      • wish our cars had the lack of dust like the UK, the rainfall of Africa, and the well maintained roads of Singapore 🥴
