HP TouchPad 32GB (USD$250 + US Shipping)

50

Just came up on HP Home website, need US shipping address etc I suspect.

Not a huge bargain like the firesales but they're back none the less.

  • People on TouchPad forums and RootzWiki are reporting that orders do not go through. Don't keep your hopes too high!

  • not to mention the currency is below parity now…. its crap time to buy tbh.

And they raised the price to $250 to prevent scalpers.

      Rightfully so.
I'm all for making a dollar but f**k the brodens etc that rocked up to HN to buy 5+ at a time just to put them on eBay.

  • isn't the touchpad craze over ?

  • Meh. USD250 with delivery to Oz and I'd be tempted. Maybe. at USD300+ with delivery to Oz (you'd need a re-shipper and the cheapest delivery they had was USD15 so it's a decent guess I reckon) I'd rather buy a not-dead tablet.

I was a lucky one to get in on the firesale, but I will say there is nothing dead about the Touchpad. People don't realise that all a tab does is give convenient access to basic laptop functions. It browses, does office basic, movies/tv, stream, email, facebook etc. Android isn't far away either on dual boot either. I agree maybe for $300 not a bargain, but compare it to like for like in the market, it still is IMO

      • Well that's why I didn't neg. :) But whilst it's not dead dead it is dead (perhaps undead?). Yes you can go all reanimator on it but I'd still rather a fully supported tablet for that price. At AUD150 I'd've bought it without hesitation (if I could've made it to a HN).

Not a bargain with proper tablets selling at only $100 more (before shipping) here.

    • +2

      "only" $100 more…
Remember where you're posting? $100 is a LOT of Logitech earphones.

      • +1

It's probably closer to $50 extra after you factor in shipping…
plus the time involved in arranging a mail forwarder,
plus a power adapter cause this will come with a US plug.

For a tablet that's dead in the water, you're better off buying a $300 one from eBay with Australian warranty and power adapter, or buying a Iconia/Transformer from a retailer for $350.

  • funny..now its out of stock!!!

    • That's not the funny bit. The funny bit is "Please check back soon". :)

  • Not a bargain, $100 is a bargain.

You needed a credit card or PayPal account with a US billing address to take advantage of this. In any case, although I was very happy to pay $150 for the 32GB model back during the firesale, I definitely wouldn't pay $300 shipped for one when there are plenty of fully-supported tablets for around that price.
