Pink Floyd: The Discovery 14 Studio Album Boxset. $181.16 Delivered from TheHut. Others = $200+

22

I have been anticipating this release for a while. I can't afford to actually buy it right now but I thought that this might help some other Floyd tragic. Amazon UK = $201.36 & USA = $200 and so this represents a nice 10% (almost) saving. Needless to say the local shops are mostly selling the set for $249. I have not been able to find anyone under the $200 mark in Oz.

Or you can get ripped off entirely and pay $199 at the Australian iTunes shop for an mp3 download with none of the special collectors media that goes with it! Seriously, who would accept mp3 copies of remastered works? Anyway that is the end of my anti-iTunes rant :-)

Taken directly from the Hut website…

  • Not sure how you got AUD181 unless you're taking off the VAT and AFAIK The Hutt does not remove VAT so, given 1 GBP = 1.62 AUD:

    The Hutt: GBP135 * 1.62 * 1.025 = AUD224.17
    Amazon UK: GBP150 * 1.62 * 1.025 / 1.20 = AUD207.56

The 1.025 is the currency conversion charge.

    Will unneg if wrong.

      • To my knowledge TheHutt/Zavvi do not remove VAT.

        • -1

Unsure myself, just pointing out how he came to that total.

I've got a 10% off voucher if anyone wants to use it..

Edit: Hmmm.. Nope, it's for Zavvi, my bad. =/

          Edit2: And it's expired……..

      • Thank you *ryang. I tried to be transparent about how I arrived at the price.

*the dicombobul… As I have never shopped with The Hut before I checked the T&C on their site and it said

and so I had assumed that it meant that they removed VAT for sales OS. I am sorry to mislead, it was not my intention.

In terms of the price that I stated for the Amazon UK price of $201.36 that is what appeared in my cart when I went right through to the "confirm purchase" price (which I then killed) so I am unsure why yours is different.

I know. It kills it as a bargain, though. Stupid non-VAT removal.

No idea there. Maybe they don't keep up to market rates? Though that seems unlikely.

Both yours and my source for exchange rates is xe.com.

  • I don't know if the other albums are the same but the 1990s remastered DSOTM isn't as good as the original. Hopefully this re-remastered version is better.

  • Description and price needs to be amended. Hut group do not remove VAt - never have.

    Not a bargain.

Also no mention of credit card problems and cancellations with Hut group, which are so common now -although to be fair poster writes of their ignorance of the company.

    • Cool.

      Thank you for the feedback.
