I was looking for this exact RAM for some time to put in my build. Cheapest I have seen in recent times.

For those looking for an AMD optimised version of the same thing newegg has it for $255. imho with newer boards this is a non-issue.

https://www.newegg.com/global/au-en/g-skill-32gb-288-pin-ddr…

here is a handy chart for AMD users to lookup their processor. Both models listed in original and newegg deal are compatible and essentially identical. Most newer boards will also have compatibility / tuning for both.

Hynix chips,, ok to run at stock :)

    • +2

Exactly, won’t boot even on 3266……

      • +1

I got hynix 3000 chips running at 3466 on my b450 w ryzen 3600. Maybe got lucky

        • +1

You did get lucky, my 3200 won't even boot at 3200. Have the same sticks in an identical machine and they do boot at 3200 fine. Even at 3000 they're unstable.

    • Any tips or good guides on OCing ram? Never something I've really looked into over just going for XMP. I had the set in this deal but just upgraded to the 3600 C16 Neo's (F4-3600C16D-32GTZN) with Samsung B die. I'm running 8700K cpu and Z370-I itx mobo. Edit: found this guide https://github.com/integralfx/MemTestHelper/blob/master/DDR4…

      • +2

The bottom line is that above 3000 overclocking RAM doesnt really do much for you. That money is spent almost always better on any other part (Better graphics, better SSD, Better Processor etc.). If money is not a concern and everything else is already specced out, then there are faster speeds you can buy stock.

Loads of speed comparisons on youtube.

        • I have a 1080ti and run a 165Hz monitor, so trying to push as many fps as I can. Will upgrade GPU when the next gen of gpus arrive. Already have 970 Evo Plus nvme and the 8700K is still pretty decent.

          • +1

@elli0t: With that processor any RAM above 2666 will not give you much more. Your CPU will lag behind. Like I said, its always a better idea to upgrade any other component first.

e.g. in my build I have a Ryzen 3900x running on a X570, NVME dual M.2 striped for higher speeds. Even with my setup instead of buying faster RAM Its better to put that money into the graphic card. I was initially looking to buy a 5700xt / 2070 super etc. and 3600 or higher RAM 16x2 kits. But going 2080 for the card and 3200 CAS16 will give me much better performance. Anything 16x2 at CAS lower than 16 or speeds higher than 3200 starts getting ridiculously expensive.

            • +1

@ozBFM: I got my F4-3600C16D-32GTZN kit for $282 so wasn't a big cost for me over the 3200 in this deal. It retails for much higher though. I might upgrade CPU and mobo soon, but was going to wait for the new Ryzen gen to drop. New Intel Z490 is also tempting (for gaming) but I think it will be a dead-end platform/socket once they move to <14nm.

      • Now are you sure it's B-die? What timings? Mine were reporting as B-die in Thaiphoon Burner but were actually Samsung C-die due to not having flat timings and the lot code was C-die.

        • Not 100% sure. Stock timings are 16-16-16-36. How do I check the lot code? Are you sure you have the same as mine and not the F4-3600C16D-32GTZNC? There's a C on the end of the 16-19-19-39 version.

          • @elli0t: Ok that's definitely B-die. Timings that flat are B-die. I had G.Skill Value RAM, totally different but there were also some Trident Z kits like that.

      • It's a sin to have B-die and a 1 DIMM per channel motherboard and not overclock. That being said, you'll probably cap out at 4000MHz because of you're running dual rank sticks, but you should have a small performance improvement.

If you want someone to help you with RAM OC, I'd recommend joining the Overclocking Discord.

    • I just got the item (price matched with local stock), Thaiphoon burner told me it is Samsung B-die. I haven't tried to overclock it but just for everyone's infomation

    Corsair vengeance ram cheaper

    https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0143UM4TC?th=1

    • +4

Hardly a fair comparison. Corsair Vengeance are ALWAYS cheaper than TridentZ because of the RGB. You should compare prices with the equivalent which is the Vengeance Pro RGB.

      The TridentZ's are cheaper.

      • i got the 32GB rgb pro for basically the same price a couple weeks back:
        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/538914

        • Yeah the RGB Pro from corsair from that deal should be similar to this RAM. I just wanted G.Skillz because I find them "prettier" to be honest. T-Fury has a 32GB kit much cheaper which should pretty much do the same thing too in terms of functionality.

          • @ozBFM: Function wise yeah. I wasn't particularly keen on RGB but I got these and once you see the programmed lights in effect, you can kind of see the appeal. Purely comsmetic.

  • Would this kit work @ 3200mhz on B450 chipset?

Also I've gathered the '32gtzrx' skew are more ideal for Ryzen how ever I've also seen reviews confirming these work well with Ryzen anyway

    • depends mostly on your CPU, AMD Zen has memory controllers in the CPU not the chipset.

Anyway it should, I'm running mine (2x8GB) at 3200CL16 using 1usmus settings on my launch batch 1600, which is the worst possible.

      • I've had to run mine at 3000mhz with my 1600. Anything higher is unstable. Good enough for me anyway

    • You can always go to your motherboard maker’s website to check the QVL doc for that board just to be sure. It’ll tell you which RAM brands and models have been tested and working on that mobo.

    • I have this on MSI Mortar Max b450, XMP/AMP profile at 3000mhz worked fine, I "overclocked" the ram by selecting 3200 manually and leaving everything else on Auto, I've run it that way since, about 8 months, never had any issues. this in with a 3600, and past month, a 3900x

I believe Ryzen is getting a lot more forgiving with ram. And "fast" ram seems to be getting cheaper, because a lot more new builds are AMD where intel, i hear it legit just doesn't matter if you use 2133mhz

      https://au.pcpartpicker.com/product/FNprxr/gskill-aegis-16gb…

    • I looked up gskill ram config these aren't listed as comptabilbe & also my Motherboards QVL doc, but their lists aren't always 100%.

      For 3200x

  • +1

Damn. I want to add another 16GB to my current setup as I have the exact ones. But what am I going to do with another 2 sticks?

    • +1

I'm in the same boat. I have the 16GB kit. Hopefully they drop the 16gb kit too seeing as they currently have it priced only $45 cheaper

      • me three. I jumped on the 4x8GB corsair Pro kit from mighty ape (order cancelled) with plans to sell my existing G.skill, now i'm waiting for another 2x8 or 4x8 deal.

      • I mean, if you live in Perth we can split it.

    • +2

Buy this and sell your current sticks, or just buy this and have 48gb of ram

      • do it, just to post back if it works fine!

      • I bought two of these(2 x 16x2), to up to 64GB and sold my Patriot Viper RGB 3000 (vipers looked pretty amazing in the build also).

    • +1

      I got 2x8gb F4-3200C16D-16GTZR from shopping express for 169.00

  • +1

Just get this same performance RAM for cheaper @ $230.
    https://www.amazon.com.au/G-skill-Ripjaws-3200Mhz-Memory-Mod…

  • i was srs looking atmaybe getting 32gb, but i would spend the extra $50 to get G.Skill Trident Z Neo 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 CL16 Memory
    https://au.pcpartpicker.com/product/w3FKHx/gskill-trident-z-…

I bought my last ram from NewEgg, i can't recall how much shipping was.

    $350 at Umart though.

32GB of ram is expensive no matter what, so you may as well get the fastest.

  • Have owned them for 3 years. Samsung B-die, just fantastic.

    • I havent received these but I am pretty sure this specific model is hynix.

      • Mine was F4-3200C14D-32GTZR to be specific.

        • This one is F4-3200C16D-32GTZR

  • Hoping someone can clarify the benefits of each way.

    4x16GB or 2x32GB?

is there better performance a certain way when achieving 64GB RAM? (video editing and VFX work on 4K RAW footage, some gaming as well) I do get that using 32GB sticks allows 128GB in future, however, don't think I'll need to go that high in the current build.

paired with i7 9700K (yeah no hyperthreading cry) and RTX 2070 8GB

    • Mostly comes down to price. 2x32 kits much more expensive, however they allow much more ability to expand. Most boards and newer processors will go upto 128GB. Its actually better to buy a lower CAS (e.g. 14) higher speed 2x16 than buying a higher cas 2x32.

Honestly, if you are not virtualizing your machine in any way, anything above 64gb is overkill (opinions vary on this).

    • More likelihood of problems with 4 slots filled than 2.

I was going to get 2x8 for now and get another pair later on when prices drop but my research showed timings and stability would be be better with only 2 sticks vs 4.

Not to say 4x8 wouldn't have been stable, just that chance of problems are greater.

I went with 2x16 corsair vengeance for $211 from Amazon.

      • Yeah that 2x16 is a good deal too for corsair. Was very tempted, but needed the pretty lights!

      • Recently I was informed here on OzBargain that with Ryzen, filling all the RAM slots was much better in terms of performance. Is that actually incorrect?

        • Potentially but not always.

16GB sticks usually means dual rank with 8Gb ICs but can be single rank with 16Gb ICs.
32GB sticks are currently only dual rank with 16Gb ICs.

4x16GB with 8Gb ICs is 2 ranks per channel and with both channels filled you get 4 ranks total.
4x16GB with 16Gb ICs is 1 rank per channel which means 2 ranks total.
2x32GB with 16Gb ICs is 2 ranks per channel but with only 1 channel filled you still get 2 ranks total.

How many ranks you have total is important because of rank interleaving which gives a slight performance bump.

But with higher density ICs you also have higher tRFC which is one of the timings that have a noticeable impact on performance.

Chances are 4x16GB will perform better than 2x32GB and will usually overclock better as 8Gb ICs overclock better than 16Gb ICs.

I have the 16GB kit of 3000mhz CL16 at 3400Mhz CL16 (and tighter primary and secondary timings then stock). I kind of want 32GB but i don't inherently need it and i want it to overclock (as I find it fun).

I don't think these will clock up much higher then stock if the previous comments is anything to go by.

    • +1

Well then your next RAM is going to be 2400MHz green PCB. It's so satisfying to overclock. I got my 2666C19 green PCB kit to 3333C16 at 1.35V, what an improvement.

      • Wow, that's insane.

        You got super lucky.

        • Not luck, have seen many cases of doing better with Samsung C-die, some getting to 3600 at 1.28V. It's a ridiculous die, but the let down is the primary and tertiary timings which suck.

  • Does anyone know or have a guide on how to overclock corsair vengeance rgb pro 4x 8gb Memory 3000mhz CL15 to 3200mhz? I have a general idea around the bios and all but I’ll say that I’m a beginner.

YouTube is your friend here. Plenty of videos demonstrating this.

Here is a great video on overclocking RAM by Hardware Unboxed. Also shows how useless spending money on RAM is when T-Force cheap bargain 3000 CL16 RAM overclocked / tuned right, competes with 3800

  • Slightly offtopic, Can I use HP Pavillion dv9000 battery in my Dell Inspiron 15 (N5050)?
    Looking on 'https://www.all-laptopbattery.com/',

    HP Pavilion DV9000, 5200mAh
    Battery Capacity: 5200mAh
    Battery Cell: 8-Cell
    Battery Voltage: 14.4V
    Battery Type: Li-ion

    Dell Inspiron N5050, 5200mAh
    Battery Capacity: 5200mAh
    Battery Cell: 6-Cell
    Battery Voltage: 11.1V
    Battery Type: Li-ion

    • I highly doubt you can. Batteries are designed as per the laptop shape etc.

    • Extremely unlikely, like someone else mentioned they are almost always shaped differently.

      They're also different voltages…

  • With my 1700x would this even run at stock speed?

    • Short answer is no. Longer answer, check out the specs for your processor on amd.

      https://www.amd.com/en/products/cpu/amd-ryzen-7-1700x

      • It can run above 2666, 2666 is just the max before needing to enable A-XMP. After 3400MHz however it becomes silicon lottery, most chips will need to increase VDDG and SOC voltage to get FCLK above 1800MHz.

  • Is there a way I can get those Newegg ones without shipping fees?

  • Is this in A$? A few times now I've bought something on Amazon AU that looked like a bargain only for them to convert US$ to AU$ at checkout!

  • $242.44 now on Amazon
