130

BOTH SOLD OUT

The Citizen equivalent to the Seiko Cocktail Time is currently on sale at Myer for $389 with a further 30% off when added to your cart.

A little fluff from the official website. This has a titanium case with leather strap, sapphire crystal and an 8210 movement - hand winding, but no hacking. At 40.5mm, makes for quite a handsome timepiece on your wrist. Its dial is not quite as intricately detailed as a Seiko, but certainly lighter and with a much better crystal.

I think you should remove Cocktail Time from the title to avoid confusion, nowhere in the Myer listing is it referred to as a Cocktail Time. It's like calling the Seiko 5 Sports as a Seiko Submariner.

I don't even think they're that similar. The Seiko cocktail hallmark is the irridescent face, this looks quite plain with a simple texture.

Precisely why I trust OZB members not to get confused.

If you agree that they're not similar, why are you making the comparison in the first place then?

  • the miyota 8000 series is the standard line and its typical 21,000 beats handwind no hack

you need the 9000 series for the nicer movts. ie.g highbeat hacking

    • There is a newer version of the Miyota 8000 series that does back though, the 821a. Originally some brands has exclusive access, but it's becoming more accessible.

  • It's looking good and I understand the reference to cocktail even though not really the same impact. Doesn't seem to have a see through case back. Don't quite understand the purpose of a titanium case with a leather band since most of the weight benefit will be gained over a SS band.
Knowing that titanium attracts more scratches than SS case, this may not be a selling point.
Good to see a saphire crystal.

  • There ARE good looking watches around …these are not them

  • I had a look at my local Mer and the Seiko line up was pathetic. Had about six watches and a few of them were Astrons. Plenty of fashion watches though.

    • Just bad luck I guess. The Melbourne city store had turtles, samurais, and a bunch of chronos last time I went. Staff were a bit clueless but still nice to try things on.
