It was $494 over the last two weeks or so, with $20 price drop this morning it's now $10 cheaper than the last deal.

Amazon US stock, don't buy it if you can't wait for two weeks.

I always prefer the 3700x over 3600 and 3900x but couldn't justify its per-core pricing previously, with this price today I finally pulled the trigger.

Make sure to save more if you have the access to the Suncorp 3% discounted amazon giftcard.

Update on 28/May: it's now $465.5, I just cancelled and re-ordered as the old order wasn't dispatched yet.

Dude stop it. I'm waiting for b550

Buy this CPU first, it will arrive in June anyway, perfect timing for a b550 motherboard, lol

    • so get in quick then keep saving for b550 :D

so glad I got one for $440 last year. prices in covid are so depressing.

    • +1

Yeah I know, and god I hate that I missed this RAM deal in Jan, impossible price!

      • damn son!

      • +1

Wow, right now that price would be a bargain for 2x8GB :(

      • Hot damn… is that price error?

      • That ain't nothing by OZB standards, got as low as ~105 or so (3200 or 3000 can't remember but basically same same)

        • That might've been for 16GB, but that "deal" was for 32GB.

IIRC it was a pricing error that lasted for 20 or so minutes.

          • +1

@iseeyou1312: Yeah only lasted 20mins or so and was a pricing error but they did honour it at least.

      • It's quite slow though - ryzen benefits from higher frequency ram so I'd get something closer to 4,000mhz

        • Anything above 3200mhz will have increasing premiums attached, more than having CL timings below 15 or the now infamous B-Die chips for the older Ryzen XMP speed and compatibility.

It's nice to have, but it's often $400+ for 4000 to 4400mhz and other such speeds, sometimes double or triple the price.

        • Considering AU pricing, 3200mhz cl16 or 3600mhz cl18 are the sweet spot p/p wise. You'll have to pay a considerable premium just to get 3200mhz cl14 or 3600mhz cl16 for very little gains. Unless you're already rocking 3900X and 2080Ti, it's not worth the huge jump in price to get 4000mhz RAM.

Totally valid points by both of you, thanks.

  • good price! don't like it coming from the US though

  • Get this, wait for the "3800XT" in June, or wait for the 4000 series?

    • I reckon 4000 series won't arrive before 2021. That's why I get the 3700x now, I'll upgrade to a 4900x(or 4950x) two years later. I could probably pay even less total sum with this route compared to buying a 4900x at its launch price. The most important thing is I can have a decent cpu now rather than waiting for 8 more months.

The question for 3800xt is how much is it? I wouldn't expect it cheaper than 3800x.

      • The rumours suggest they will be the current 3800X price point. I think the question is what value does it actually provide. Both 3600X and 3800X today seem to provide such little improvement that most reviews suggest its not worth it. I don't see how adding another 200Mhz to these chips is going to make them worth paying the extra for.

The real winners imo will be that the price on current 3600X and 3800X chips will fall so maybe they will then be worth it assuming the 3700X isn't going to move much.

4000 series gonna take a while to launch (maybe late 20, early 21), then you'll have to wait for a good deal. If you're fine at the moment, then wait. If you need a new PC now, then just go ahead and buy this. The jump from 3000 to 4000 isn't gonna be as massive as 2000 to 3000 series.

  • $465 now

  • Is this the lowest price ever recorded for this CPU? OR should I wait longer and see if it goes lower?

Please be adviced, I'm new to pc building haha

    • You can search old deals and see it has been as low as $440 and $450 a couple of times, think they were also + delivery so this is pretty good by comparison.

    • Pcpartpicker has a price comparison for parts from AU stores if you want to look at the history of the pricing for various parts.

Newegg/Amazon and b&h tends to be cheaper, until shipping and tax is applied, so it's not ideal to add those options. Mostly Newegg.

  • I got one too, Amazon AU stock as I have prime, add 10 bucks to have it in 2 days, and $15 off code too. Retailers still have it like at 529.

  • $454.99 now

  • $447.10 today!

  • $446.85 currently

  • $443.87 right now. dew.it.
