80x200mm F Clamps $4.49 (Was $10.95) https://www.bunnings.com.au/craftright-80-x-200mm-f-clamp_p5…

  • nice find, cheers!
EDIT: are these clamps smaller than the Aldi clamps?

    • The catalogue doesn't show sizes. Will probably have to wait till they release it on the site to get more information.

    • +1

where is link to aldi clamps

  • If I've already got a set of quick release clamps (the trigger grip with release switch, incase I've got the term wrong) do these clamps let me do anything new?

I'd rather put money into a longer style clamp but these are pretty good discounts…

    • It totally depends on what you want to clamp. I've just bought 10 as they're cheap but good enough for some of the stuff I do, like laminating thin plies.

    • +5

Yea these are harder to use single handed but offer heaps more clamping force plus they are more adjustable. Also the body on these are fully metal my quick release bar clamps have plastic jaws.

    • I think these hold things tighter.
I was looking at these 4 for $50 better quality I assume.

That looks like a good price (Y) - thanks! may go and get some DeWalt clamps myself.

For applications where my health or life depends on it - I go with Bessey (Y) https://www.totaltools.com.au/2639-bessey-200mm-malleable-ca…

        • Looks nice. What are the applications where your health or life may depend on a clamp may I ask? My mental health often depends on clamps not failing, but not my actual life!

      • Was interested in these but the reviews are pretty bad. If you're still keen Sydney tools have them for $45.

    • +1

These will last be longer. My quick pump ones have faded over a few years.

      • +1

Try WD40 on the release mechanisms. I tried it and saved few clams I was about to discard thinking they are faulty.

  • Bought some of these two days ago to put up some cupboards! bastards!

    • +13

Buy again. Return new with old receipt.

        This guy OzBargains.

        • +3

          And frauds.

          P.S. I approve.

  • Is Aldi selling clamps again? Need me some o them quick clamps

    • +2

I bought the Aldi set of 4 x quick clamps last year. Made from 100% chinesium…Mine are in landfill now…not recommended

      • +1

I also got them - also in landfill today. I also have some Irwin equivalents, and next time I need more I'll just get more Irwin. I only use them occasionally but the Aldi ones are VERY poor quality

        • Interesting… My dad got some aldi clamps about 4 years ago (yellow trim, not sure how different they are to this year's stock) and they've been amazing. Unfortunately he only got 2 of each size, which any DIYer knows is not enough.

          Maybe they've changed manufacturer?

    • when they do go on sale dont become the stand mixer guy plz.

  • +1

i have absolutely no use for this, with that said, i bought 2.

  • +5

Pretty good deal guys, might wanna clamp down on some of these.

    • +3

I think buying too many is a vice

      • +3

Good to use in a pinch…

Me and my missus wanted to try something new in the bedroom, this will be perfect for CBT.
    Thanks.

Good to hear you’re getting the cognitive behavioural therapy you’re after, and with your loved one in the bedroom no less! Heartwarming all round

  • Everything Craftright is a waste of money, at any price. Ask one of the staff at Bunnings and they will tell you the same thing.

    • And you tell us this after we pulled the trigger. :(

      • I'm sure I have said this in some other Craftright thread!

    • +1

I may agree but if you are going to just drill one or two holes with a drill, a cheap set would do.
Sometimes it is not worth spending the money if it is just used once or twice.

      • I borrowed a set of someone's Craftright clamps and they literally broke when clamped them (two of them I believe).

        • I bet the cast metal broke.

This sale item is perfect then, replace them like for like :)

        • Which clamps broke, the plastic ones or these steel clamps?

        • My experience with them too, they are weak and unreliable.

    • +5

I call BS on this statement! I have craftright chisels, hammers, mallets and many other items for many years without any problems.

      • +4

Yeah, Craftright is just basically the name they stick on tools that they source from varying manufacturers, some of it is junk, some of it is pretty reasonable and great value, just gotta use commonsense (or Bunnings decent return policies)

    • While I'd usually say to get the best hand tools you can afford, I've had a couple of these and their quick grip ones for years (when I used to skimp on tools) and they've been fine.
If I was using them every weekend then I'd get something better but for the odd project every now and then, they've been fine.

    • +1

Disagree entirely. Have many Craftright tools, you get what you pay for but at the same time Bunnings aren't stupid. If they break or otherwise fail prematurely then you'll take them straight back.

There's certain things I wouldn't buy in Craftright brand, but a clamp isn't one of them!

    • This is my experience too.

  • These work fine, wish the larger one was on special too!

  • How do these compare to Irwin?

  • Mine are OK too.

I have inherited tools going back 50 years and 99% of them work. All my old power tools still work.

I also recommend the Hart products. They are well designed.

    https://www.bunnings.com.au/hart-100mm-ratchet-hand-clamp_p5…

  • Have had the workzone quick release clamps and have had mixed results — 10 failed and 10 are fine.. however with my Irwins never had a single one fail…

With F Clamps, i have had these for over 7 years now and they are pretty cool —

    https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/sca-sca-f-clamp---300mm/…

Still straight after so many years..

  • These ones or Aldi ones for making kitchen cabinets?

  • +1

FYI to anyone looking at Aldi clamps: the screw clamps have much more clamping force than those quick-grip clamps.
Screw clamps can be used to force things together, whereas the quick-grip clamps can only be used to hold things together.

  • Many a Liquid-nailed surface has been held by these in my house, they do the job!

  • I ordered 2 of these for pick-up at Bunnings Hawthorn.
Without any explanation or email I have been refunded for both via PayPal,
With my ready to pick-up confirmation omitting this part of my order.

    • It still says it is in stock and available in both sizes at Bunnings Hawthorn.

      • They sent my order to another Bunnings 45mins away from me. Would have been nice if they called and asked if I wanted to go to the other Bunnings.

  • I got the 'ready to pickup' email this afternoon. Bought 5 of the bigger ones.

  • Cheers grabbed a couple… Not sure what for but, you just never know is my thinking!

  • Thanks for the update about the Aldi clamp size.
I impulse bought 2x 200mm today anyway on the way back from work, but wouldn't be surprised if I suddenly impulse bought one set of Aldi too for the 300mm.

Or maybe Bunnings will drop theirs to match too.

  • No 200mm left at Nunawading, VIC. Some 150mm left but not many.

Ticket says on sale until 8/8/2020

  • The aldi F bar clamps are rated at 2700 newtons or 600lbs, the same as the dewalt medium duty ones mentioned above.
Ive got 4 200mm ones from bunnings for click and collect and also bought the dewalt pack from sydney tools at 20% off so I guess Ill have to get the some of Aldi ones to round off the collection!

  • The 200mm is removed altogether from Bunny's website. Discontinued or out of stock?
Now I have to get my money back somehow, they will never deliver this…

    • Either or neither? Can't really tell. For instance they have 300mm versions as someone mentioned at the top but I've never seen them on the website, only seen them in store (and as mentioned not matching Aldi in this case sadly).

  • Picked up the 4x200 clamps I ordered from Bunnings today but I think they'll be going back tomorrow.
Feel too light duty too me and the castings look like they'd be pretty brittle. Hope the dewalt ones are better!

    • These are more for woodworking than anything else, really. For woodwork, the pressure is more than enough - more pressure would push into the wood anyway :)
If you need it for work though, but a proper brand from a tool shop, I agree

  • The Aldi clamps popular from my store. I picked one up yesterday morning. Went in again just now for some dinner supplies and all cleared out already. Lucky I didn't wait to grab a set mainly for the 300mm.

    • Are the Aldi ones better than these?

      • In true OzB fashion they've gone straight from the shop into the garage random stuff pile >_<
Dunno how long until I put either of them to use! lol

        • Lol! I bought 5 of the ones posted here so I am thinking to return 3 and keep only 2.

  • Thanks OP, bought 30
