AMD Ryzen 3 3300x $205 @ CPL (Computer & Parts Land)

174

I was waiting for this to go on sale ever since it was announced! An awesome processor at an awesome price!

Other places which have it in stock at the moment:
1) Mwave: https://www.mwave.com.au/product/amd-ryzen-3-3300x-4-core-so…
2) PC Case Gear: https://www.pccasegear.com/products/50145/amd-ryzen-3-3300x-…
3) Scorptec: https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/CPU/AMD-Socket-AM4/82827… (You can place an order now and ETA is shown as 21/05/2020 which is today so might be ready anytime today, try your luck)

CPL(Computer & Parts Land) was my first choice as out of all the stores listed above, they are the ones which offered in-store pickup and a price of $205, rather than $215 or $219 like some other retailers. I haven't bothered to add those retailers in the post.

This is the price i've seen for it from the begining… not sure if its on special to be honest.

I am going to wait till 16 June for B550 motherboards.

    • Why? B450's are stupidly cheap at the moment and will support the same CPU upgrades in future.

        • +3

yes they will, AMD announced support for it yesterday

          • +2

@Deezxy: It's worth noting that it may be all of them though, unless every manufacturer rolls it out. Which is not guaranteed.

            • @ONEMariachi: the safest bet for Ryzen 4000 series support is the MSI MAX series b450 boards.

          • +1

@Deezxy: I still wouldn't buy it, its mostly for current owners of B450. Many good motherboards are already out of stock or overpriced due to production halting.

Also AMD said its a one way upgrade, once you update BIOS only Ryzen 4000 CPUs will work, 3000 will not work. No way to downgrade it either.

            • @cycleri3: To clarify 3000 series should probably still work, its the older models that wont, like Zen and Zen+ (i.e 1000 and 2000 models)

      • Which mATX B450 board is best value at the moment?

        • +2

          mortar max?

      • How is B450 stupidly cheap? One of the best budget m-atx boards Mortar Max was going for as low as $129 before Covid, now its over $180 and hardly any stock available?

  • +7

What exactly makes this a deal/bargain? Standard price and plenty of stock…

It just got released and it's a good price considering the specifications for it. It stacks up against Intel i7-7700k in games and productivity which is usually twice the cost. Not to mention, not everyone is selling it for $205. Some retailers have already started jacking up the price to $219.

Ryzen 5 1600AF was released for $149 but now goes for $165+ everywhere. I wouldn't be surprised if $219 becomes the usual price for one of these after a few days.

The point remains, you have listed a product at RRP as a "deal". And it's not just one store that currently has it at RRP, it's most of them. THe price jacking is a minority of stores.

Also, comparing to the 7700k for pricing is ridiculous as it is a 3 year old chip that has been superceded many times and can no longer be bought new.]\

I have no issue with the 3300X, I think it's a brilliant chip for the price. But RRP is not a deal.

No worries. I was just trying to help those who might be waiting for this processor to go on sale. I'm not getting anything out of doing this. You can report it or move it to a different section if you want :)

@saurabhgoyal93: If there is no Deal you are basically advertising

          • +5

@saurabhgoyal93: your intentions are good saurabhgoyal93, dont feel bad, the guys scrutinizing every posts to ensure quality and filter unwanted content (e.g. ads, etc…).

RRP and available everywhere, not a deal

  • +6

3900x price has dropped overnight, because of the Intel releases…

  • +2

Seems to me that a lot of people need to go back to bed and stop being snobby little toddlers or just plain out right d*cks. Op was just being helpful. Don't quit your day jobs.

  • +1

We appreciate you sharing the info, but unless there is free shipping or something else offered, RRP is not a deal sorry

    • +2

PLE Computers have it listed for $205 as well with free shipping but don't have it in stock at the moment. Might be worth checking them out :)

      • +1

        nice :)

      • +3

That's actually a deal compared to this, hope they show stock soon. Hard to decide on sticking with the 1600af or this, or waiting for the upcoming 4600

        • +1

yep agree with you, this is slightly better in games but 1600AF is better in workstation work loads… i guess depends what board you want to run it on, i dont think B550 supports the 1600AF so it'd have to be a B450 and who knows if that turns into a hot mess with the Bios stuff happening for support of Zen3.. luckily (or not) until my job is stable again i cant really buy anything anyway since the gfx cards are just way too expensive regardless of how good the cpu market is at the moment… maybe best to wait and see if AMD can get something out there to compete with nvidia … if that happens we might see the dawn of a glorious gaming era ..lol

We get screwed over pretty hard on price here in Australia, wasn't this supposed to be a $100 USD chip?

    • +5

$120 USD $205 is pretty reasonable if you take into account the trash aussie dollar at the moment & GST

    • +8

That's the 3100, the 3300X is $120US which is $182AU which is $200AU including GST.

No, the 3300X is $120 USD which is currently ~$182.43 AUD, add on 10% GST and pretty much bang on this price.

      Edit: beaten 😂

  • +2

This is RRP - not a bargain.

  • -3

We should all post new things at there RRP. /s

  • +1

Wouldn't the Ryzen 5 1600 AF with 6 cores outperform this 3 model with only 4 cores?

    • +1

Flip a coin. Maybe the 1600AF is better for serious overclocking, however for most of us, no appreciable difference.

Bought the 1600AF from PCCG 2 days ago for $179.00. That leaves me a bit of $$ to spend at Aether this afternoon.

Just a heads up when it comes to CPL, while they have good prices, their after sales support is noticeably worse than MSY. I've had to buy from them on and off over the last 2 decades and any time there was an issue with an item it was immediately my fault, or they'd tell me to take it to the manufacturer or they'd take a restock fee on returns that were dead on arrival. This is to the point that I won't buy from them unless something is bullet proof ie. heatsink, thermal paste or a case.

    • thanks for sharing.

I found Mwave to be exactly like that also. rednecks

  • RRP is not a bargain
