    +1 for OW Stock Check!

    • I'd agree, but did you see this at the bottom?

I've not been completely happy with my LG V30+ - would this be an ok replacement?
Seems like a bit of a toss up? https://www.smartprix.com/mobiles/oppo_reno_z_vs_lg_v30_plus…

I have this phone. Recently it upgraded to Android 10 and it been quite slow and buggy. Face lock stopped working and web browsing is really slow. Not sure if I like this phone anymore.

      • That is interesting. I have this an it is still on Android 9. I am with Kogan/Voda and left Boost/Telstra a month ago.

I guess the update will be coming OTA soon then…

        • I did too. However my son accidentally changed the phone region to UAE without me knowing. Within minutes I had a software update waiting. It was for Android 10. I installed it however major issues after it. Would not recommend getting Android 10 on this phone. I have the 8GB variant. Got it from All phones Ebay for $399 8 months ago.

      • Still Android 9 for me. With some minor theme and settings tweaking you can get this phone looking and running nicely. I came from iOS and never been happier. Epic battery life, lasts 2 days of normal use easily. Decent rear camera, great selfie camera. Solid phone for a budget price.

      • Actually I don't see the benefit of using Android 10.
Android 10 has implemented many retrictions for apps to access to the system resources.

I guess you are comparing your LG V30+ with the wrong Oppo Reno Z 4GB/128GB, not 8GB/128GB. I'd probably recommend you to get Samsung A71 with a slightly higher price tag in addition to higher specs.

Plus by buying Sumsung you are not supporting CCP, I always try to buy either Sumsung or LG..

    • +1

I have the V30+, wife has the Oppo Reno Z, so I'm well placed to compare. In many aspects they are very similar.

What is it about the V30+ that leaves you wanting?

      • My screen gets weird shadowing and discolouration sometimes.
        Otherwise pretty happy.

      • I'm on a V30+ with a dying battery, wondering about this or potentially the Reno 5G… Maybe even try hold off for a Poco F2 or similar

So difficult to choose with so many options ~

      • The V30+ has been only adequate from the start with battery life, I've found that I have to use battery saving modes to get through the day without a recharge. I do like the wireless charging though as this let me just rest it in a stand to charge rather than the inconvenience of plugging / unplugging. The Rezo Z does not have wireless charging.

The screen on the Reno Z appears better and doesn't have the blueish tinge of the V30+ when view from an off angle.

My wife habitually leaves the screen switched on for long periods (gaming, reading) with the Reno Z and still gets through the day on a charge, this is possibly an advantage of the less powerful processor and good capacity battery.

The V30+ also has a waterproof rating and the (amazing) DAC audio that the Reno doesn't, but these features don't matter to some (like my wife).

    Wasn't this $350 months ago?

    • +5

Yes, that is correct but for some reasons that I'm not aware of, some phone prices have gone high again…

    • they pump up the price right before the sale, to than drop it down for ClickFrenzy and EOFY sale.

  • Price match with this deal to get it for $375.25.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/533555

    • Out of stock, so you might not able to price match..Good luck

  • Kogan has it for $399, but have to pay the delivery.

Was about to pull the trigger until I saw Mediatek chip. No thanks!

    • +4

I have the Oppo Reno 2Z and it has a Mediatek P90. I was previously Snapdragon or nothing kinda guy who came from a broken OnePlus 5T. To be seriously honest, I'm very happy with the P90 in the 2Z. I wouldn't go for the Reno Z though.

Mine's also upgraded to ColorOS 7 / Android 10 (via India VPN) and I'm still happy, no slow downs or bugs that have surfaced.

      • I actually upgraded from the Reno Z to the 2Z when they had the price error at JB HiFi. Had no complaints with the Z, but the 2Z is better and I also did the India update to ColorOS 7. No issues with new OS so far. The Mediatek processors get a bad rap from past history, but I've not read any bad reviews on the P90 and it's been a solid performer for me in both phones.

        • hey @wombat1955,

How is the speaker volume of Reno Z?

  • Using this and have been for 2 months….

    The fingerprint is absolute shite
Battery is ok, pretty fast phone for the price. The NFC for me was a tad fiddly sometimes. Other than that it's good. Slippery without a case.

    • Interesing, I bought this for my gf and her fingerprint seems faster than on my Samsung S10 Plus.

      • +2

The original screen protector is a dust magnet, which might be part of the issue. I changed mine to a hydrogel protector, redid the fingerprint recognition and it worked much better. I also found that registering the same finger 3 times helps a lot with the speed.

Gotta support your lovely local Chinese CCP

Lots of sellouts here, no wonder they own Australia.

    • +9

I'd be confident that at least 1/4 of the gear at your house is manufactured in China. It's great and all to be aware but kinda sad peddlin' this nonsense for social gratification.
They own Australia from the exact attitude you have, going to forum's to winge rather than actually acting on it

  • Nice phone - picked the dual Sim version for $342 from Officeworks three months using pricebeat with this deal.

  • Anyone used this and TCL Plex. They seem pretty similar. Your thoughts?
