    • cheers

i have been waiting for ages to drop again. and now i cant afford it =[

  • Looks like a good price. Brilliant remote.
If you are still using 3+ remotes and haven't invested in something like this… you're crazy.

    • Yeah, they're great. I didn't realise how awesome they were until I bought one.

  • Had mine for a few years. Still working perfectly. (Cost me about $170 from memory)

  • Very tempted. My issue is that I mostly use the tivo remote to control the tv and tivo, so it would need to be brilliant at that task. I have a ps3 but don't really need a remote for that. I also have a htpc running windows media center. How do these things cope with that?

    • even my harmony 600 does a great job of the foxtel iq and htpc:

    • Logitech's Harmony hardware checker is handy.
I see under Video Recorder->PVR there is TiVo. See if your model is supported.

    • I've got a Harmony remote and a TiVo and I almost always use the TiVo remote when watching through the TiVo. I use the Harmony for everything else. The main reason I don't use the Harmony for everything is button lag - the Harmony has a slight lag that is annoying for FF through ads. I've tried playing with the settings but still can't get it as good as the TiVo remote. The TiVo remote operates both the TV and the Tivo so is in effect a 2-in-1 remote, plus it is designed to work with the TiVo and is simply a better remote for that task.

      • I had the same issue with the button lag. That was easily fixed by reducing the delay between button presses.

        • You've inspired me to try again - it was a few years ago I last fiddled with the software :-)

    • works great for Tivo. have a harmony 890 and use it for tivoHD, sony-TV, XBMC, xbox360 & midi system. One looks great but no RF so will need line of sight to equipments. $110 looks like a good price.

  • How do these compare in usability to say a 515?

I have a 515 and I find that while it can do all my devices, it's not really all that useful. I use a separate device for sound and the harmony remote only likes working with one device at a time, with a few button presses to change devices. Result - Harmony remote gets tucked under a chair and old remotes are used instead.

You should be able to program the 515 to operate multiple devices in a given activity. The trick is to set the main remote buttons to change the device features you use the most (e.g. volume keys for amp volume and channel keys for TV channels - for activity TV+amp). You can then set some soft keys up to change the least used features (e.g. soft key "TV vol up" and "TV vol dn" to change the TV volume) thus avoiding having to go into Devices and back to Activities.

  • I have this model set up to use austar tv HTPC logitech 5500 lg bluray & 360 the touch screen action buttons make all this gear GF and roommate friendly, only downside os a new battery every 12 months ($22 on eBay)

    • Had mine for years, never replaced the battery.

Not sure what you're doing to the poor thing.

Well worth the money I'd say - setting up to "Watch a Movie" is one button press whilst everything turns its self on, off, selects options and generally makes about 5 devices dance at once.

    • Battery is almost constantly being charged mainly because I use it as the backup of my dinovo mini keyboard battery ( main keyboard and mouse for my HTPC) it uses the same model battery. I love this remote there are some user mods ( like changing HTPC from hdmi audio to optical (to 5.1 audio in movies)

  • Very good price! I've had mine 3 years + with the same battery. Just fully drain it once in a while then charge it.

It does take a bit of setting up and it doesn't have any actual coloured buttons, they are through the touch screen.

48hr deal ma @ss this deal has been going on for months

    • It was previously $129 but was $155 for recent weeks.

  • +2

    nvm

  • excellent bought it, been waiting for it to drop from $155

  • Was on CoTD today for $119 + PH.

    • Almost bought from COTD… Procrastinated just long enough!

I have had one since they came out. I got the 1st one for free (Bonus with a router!)

It is finally "rebooting" itself one every few days. It as been dropped a few times!

Battery still lasts over a week!

Time to get a new one. The 880 in the bedroom has a couple dodgy buttons after 4 years - Battery also lasts over a week still.

C'mon LTS, do a deal on the Harmony 900!

  • Can I ask what is the benefit of the Harmony One over my current Harmony 525? I know the One has a touch screen but I've read it also has the following limitations:
1)batteries run out quickly needing regular recharging (my 525 batteries last a year)
2)proprietary rechargeable battery so unlike 525 can't just replace with any regular AAs.
3)more than double the cost of the 525

I'd be interested in the One if there were significant differences though…can anyone point them out? At the moment it looks identical functionality to the 525 with the touchscreen and 'nicer feel' buttons on the One…hard to justify more than double the price

    • The 2 other main differences would be a colour screen and a touch screen.

The functionality / underlying software is the same though, which is why I have stuck with my trusty 525 (actually I have 3 of them now - 1 for the theatre, family room, and bedroom!)

    • The feel of it is much better. The 525 had very small buttons. The layout / ergonomics are much better imho on the ONE.

    • You get over a year on batteries, I replace my 525 batteries constantly.
I think the One also has the ability to access a device not controlled by the current activity and return to that activity without having to restart it.
If this makes no sense, then here is an elongated explanation, if I start "Watch DVR", it turns on TV, DVR & AVR, but the it does not control the TV from there on.
On a 525 if I then select TV from devices and do things, to return to "Watch DVR" control set up, it will cycle it, that is actually turn all devices off. With the One, you can return to "Watch DVR" without turning all of the devices off.
      I think……

      • With the 525, you can start an activity, then hit "devices" if you want to access a particular device, then hit the "activities" button again to take you back to that activity…if that is what you mean?

I am 99% sure the functionality of all of the Harmony's are identical.

        • the problem is that the second time you hit activities to return there, it starts that activity again rather than just returning to it, so as all devices are already on, it turns them off.
I believe that the One,700 & 900 do not have this problem.

          Edit: I AM WRONG.
Pushing Activities TWICE returns you to the current activity.

        • Sorry yep - push it twice ; )

  • Does it have macro ability to program in functions. I cant do that on my 525 anymore its such a pain.

  • It is on sale until Oct 2 (Sunday) @ this price.

I have bought one to replace my old 785 on which the volume and channel buttons don't work very well (lots of use)

  • This deal does not come with the PS3 adaptor??!?!?

    • +1

      No, it doesn't. Very observant.
