    Where are these manufactured?

    • +15

      From the FAQ page:

Are the Ugg Boots made in Australia?
Our AU made Ugg Boots are manufactured in an Australian-owned and operated factory.

Call me a cynic, but that looks like a very deliberately-worded non-answer to the question. It doesn't say they're manufactured in Australia, it only says the factory is Australian owned and operated. Could be anywhere.

      • Barley (charlie) to that.

Mind you my Australian-made short Uggs split along the heel after only a few uses and I'm still waiting on a remedy.

      • +3

This wording is so cheeky that the deal gets a negative from me. Why can't they be honest?
So who knows a good but affordable Australian version?

      • +3

I know right. Was hoping the OP would reply and confirm what we all know.

It literally says in the description……

Package and Product Designed in Australia. This product contains real fur from sheep or lamb, and it has been artificially dyed and treated. Made in China

        • +1

That must've been added in the last hour, it wasn't on there before.

      • Agree that that's deceptive (and possibly unlawful) and they should fix it.

But is there much difference in quality between Ugg Boots made in China vs Australia?

    • +1

if you click on the read more part says made in China (flashes up quickly)

    From the FAQ section

Are the Ugg Boots made in Australia?

Our AU made Ugg Boots are manufactured in an Australian-owned and operated factory….

Talk about not answering the question

Actually they are made in China, click the read more at the end of the product description. The text is only visible for a brief moment
    So deceptive Should be reported

  • Water Resistant … HAHA like every bit of clothing and shoes!

Big dispute with the company before.
The make 100s of styles but only a couple are made in Australia.
    Deliberate shifty marketing ploy.
Good luck trying to find out which ones.
The box was covered in Australian logos.
It was only when I turned the boot inside out I found the made in China tag.
They’re not alone, Ugg market is full of scummy businesses

    • +1

The box was covered in Australian logos.

The non-answer to where they are made is a bit suss, but this here sounds like the textbook example the ACCC uses for false and misleading country of origin claims.

Wear your own skin. The Merino breed, accounting for around 80% of the wool produced in Australia, have been selectively bred to have wrinkled skin resulting in excessive amounts of wool while making them much more prone to flystrike. To reduce soiling and the risk of flystrike for the lambs who make it to summer, their tails are docked or cut off entirely, and they are often mulesed at the same time, which involves cutting off the skin around their buttocks and the base of their tail with metal shears. If the lambs are younger than 6 months, it is legal to do this without any pain relief. Sheep shearers are paid by the number of sheep shorn, not by the hour, so speed is prioritised over precision, and there is no requirement for formal training or accreditation. After a few years, when they can no longer produce enough wool to be considered profitable, the sheep are sent to slaughter and sold as mutton, while lambs raised for meat are killed between 4 and 12 months of age, far short of a natural lifespan of 12-14 years.
It is cruel and unethical to wear UGGs and other products made animal skins and byproducts. It's 2020, we have alternatives

Doubt merino skins are used for footwear ???? but your points are valid. I stopped buying lamb and veal after watching Dave Hughes of all people talk about his experience in an abattoir. No great sacrifice, and I'm still a compromised hypocrite in many other ways wrt sentient animal use for human benefit.

Wherever you turn, there's some shit going on. Time to get Wilson and we go back to the island.

      • +1

Not necessarily. The world isn't a perfect place and our existence causes some degree of harm unavoidably. But we have better alternatives and more opportunities than ever to cause less harm. Suffering to animals can be avoided across many areas (food, clothing, entertainment, vivisection).

        • It can be avoided, you are right. The only and biggest problem is getting people onboard. While others have hope for a better world, I don't. People want comfort, but without the price tag. Most will do something if they are directly impacted, yet even then most would that someone else does it.

@bargainparker: Do your bit and educate people around you. Every bit counts.

            • @nagev5: "Do your bit and educate people around you."

Unfortunately, it doesn't quite work like that. Humans are very simple beings and education… well, let me tell you that I would educate a cow before, than a human.

People will not change. Even when staring down the abyss, they will say, but i didn't know, didn't do anything. Yet they all knew, but ignorance is an easy cop-out and convenience is a too hard habit to break.

I guess, those futuristic movies after apocalypse will be reality, so better start watching to learn how to cope.

    CN boots.

  • expensive for a made in china boot

    • +2

Agree. You can get original UGGs for about the same price on Amazon.

  • +2

Deceptive. The read more section only displays for a second, advising of packaging and design made in Australia, not the boot.

  • +3

Can we ban this store? Thought they were legit Uggs.

  • Misleading. Without reading in to this, it would be easy to assume that these are made in Australia.

  • would have bought if not deceptive

Talk about misleading and deceptive advertising in the event that they are produced in China. Department of Fair Trading here we come.

Sent them an email with proof of poor quality product after a rep asked for it in the original thread. No response whatsoever. Unacceptable.

Low quality product represented as quality Australian product.
