RACV was strangely the distributor in Australia when it was launched over here. I was in Jb hifi and it was at the RRP of $199. This is not the standard Hub but the WiFi mesh capable unit. I've had 3 (now 4) in my double story house for the last year or so and love it. They also have the $199 started pack which is even better value, I originally paid $299. Grab the starter kit and an extra hub and you have a home automation and WiFi mesh system for $299. I bought one for my elderly mother in law who lives on here own. We are notified if she hasn't returned to the bedroom after going to the toilet at night and interfaces with Arlo to allow the siren to be used when motion is detected while away. Interfaces nicely with Philips hue.

Hey OP - where can you nab a starter kit for cheap?
https://www.racv.com.au/shop/smartthings-smart-home-starter-…
Promo Code SAVE20 gets your another 20% off. Applied to OP too!
How many do you need to create Mesh Network ? thanks
just 2. One acts as main wifi hub and home automation hub, then second is a wifi mesh connector. I have two and it works a treat.
Thank you so much for the Info
Anyone know if the mesh connection has to occur over WiFi or not (can I instead have all the units connected via wired ethernet)?
Also is it possible for me to continue using my existing router as the router and have all the units just run as bridges?
it says it covers 140 sqm. I would save 2-3 depending on location and floor plan?
Awesome product! Great price.
PROMO CODE: SAVE20 gets another 20% off.
Worked for me. $80 Delivered! or $159 for the Starter kit.
Worked, thank you so much!
Why stop at 20? SAVE40 works fine too!
so just double checking. but the hub has ethernet port and can work as an satellite wifi extender?
That's a sweet deal when coupled with the voucher. Thanks guys
Bought the Starter kit for $119.40 delivered.. that's 40% off.. Hint, look at the discount code..
what code haha
there's only the save20
lol got it
@razorite: I tried all the way till 100. LOL
@frozze: haha me too
@razorite: Just another hint.. it applies to the whole RACV store………….. You're welcome!!
Sweet:)
Thanks Mate - 40% off works well. GREAT
v2 has the battery backup and local camera, looks like v3 they took that away https://homealarmreport.com/smart-home/smartthings/
So you think this is V3 ?
they say this is v2,and the jb one is v3
@asa79: Just having a look at the shape being roundish it appears to be v3 , V2 being a lot squarer ?
anyone know which gen these are? v2 ? v3?
i guess they trying to clear V2 stock
the 119.4 price is kind of incredible
Judging by the shape it’s V3
if so even better hey
Edit: seems like its v2. the v3 markings are different as per jb website
Note that JB has v3 for $119.
Still a great deal at 40% off.
only hub not the kit yes?
Correct - Commenting on the $99 deal (which in reality is $60) as OP noted that it's $199 at JB (which is correct, but its v2).
Incorrect. The WiFi hub is a different product, it uses different firmware to the V2 and V3 as it has WiFi. The Z-wave and Zigbee hardware on board is the same as the V3. The onboard Plume firmware is the WiFi mesh manager.
can anyone comment on buying this as a mesh kit compared to TP-Link Deco M5 or other mesh products at the $150 mark?
No real comparison, the smartthings has WiFi Zigbee and Zwave wireless protocols with a home automation ability. The Smartthings WiFi mesh ability is a bonus
Sorry, is this better or worst?
Most people don't buy this for the mesh kit but for the zwave and zigbee protocols.
@mrderrickc: I'm looking at the smart functions as a bonus coz I'm in the market for a mesh.
To be honest it depends on your needs, If you just want a mesh system they are very similar, if you want a home automation ability then you go with the Smartthings.
@rstephenson: That's what I need to know, price is roughly the same and if mesh performance are similar then the smart ability is the bonus.
@99altezza: I'd say the same. The Smartthings community is huge so if you enjoy playing and experimenting go for the smartthings. The Deco is one of the few I never tried, as an early adopter I tried the Netgear Orbi and Google wifi, Smartthings was better. Now it might be different, a perfect experience is only a firmware update away.
Sorry I am quite clueless with this stuff but could I buy two of these startthing wifi hubs and use them as a mesh system (currently wifi coverage isn't good at one end of the house)
you need minimum of 2 to mesh
@rstephenson: Thanks
starter kit is oos :(
Sorry bro I had one in cart already, mine went through fine! Starter kit + hub for $178.80!
yea it was low stock when i clicked, tried to add and then OOS.
Annoyed but not fuss since this was more of a ozb want than a need. but good to know the code and hope they restock and dont raise the price!
I'm not actually sure if my order went through now. The money came out of my account (Twice because I wasn't sure) but I didn't get an order confirmation…
@King Steuart: yikes! Hope it goes through.
@King Steuart: On the same boat. It didn't accept the card so i tried again. Got two charges on the card.
@King Steuart: Same here. Had it in my cart and refreshed to make sure it was still there also checked and saw it was out of stock. Continued on and when I placed the order it went red with an error. Only 1 charge though.
I thought about chatting with them to see if they got the order but I don't want to risk the 40% making it invalid.
@King Steuart: Same here got charged twice
@King Steuart: I emailed them about it considering they knew about the code and retired it and they say they do not have any records for my order. Interesting to see what happens from now.
@Applause: Looks like payment/s will be returned to us. They have confirmed the 40% code was 'unofficial' and don't know when or if they will restock.
@Applause: will they be cancelling all orders? I got a confirmation and everything
@razorite: I have no idea only that it was unofficial and pending transactions without confirmation should returned. He didn't say anything about confirmed orders nor did I ask so it might give them an idea to cancel. Although my pending transaction was processed so now they are looking into it.
@Applause: thanks for you reply !
the starter pack went quick
Damn got Ozbargined, I was at the payment screen and it would not accept my credit card, then looked back at the main page and noted "out of stock", this is for the Starter kit! I was to slow. Oh well.
Anyone have comments on the arlo pro 2? I do need a security system but all you see is swann and everyone seems to hate it
The reason Racv was selling the Arlo is because it works really well with Smartthings. I have a couple. Reolink would always come out ahead of Swann. I've gone from Swann to Reolink and although the software is very similar the hardware is much better
Thanks!
Are you using both reolink and arlo?
I'm not familiar with any security camera since I'm just in the market for one
Both, I had a couple of spots I couldn't run cable to so bought the Arlo. The Reolink is the 5MP 8 channel NVR and I really like it.
@rstephenson: I'll have a look at reolink. Looks like the camera bundles sold out and save40 code is dead by the time i got home :(
Sorry i think theres a bit of confusion, can someone clarify if this is the v2 or the v3 version?
edit: or wait, are we saying that this has no v2/v3 version as its not the hub?
If anyone is interested in just the Hub (V3) and got an educational or partner account, it's available;e for $83.30 delivered via Samsung educational or partner portal.
do you have a link ?
Work for me too! $80 delivered using SAVE20 coupon. Thanks OP!
Could have been $59.40!
How come? :)
there was a SAVE40 coupon active by "mistake"
sorry, what is this??
is it a wifi extender?
This is a smart device control hub
if you have a Zigbee or Z-wave device (eg. a Philip hue lightbulb)
you can connect it via the smartthings hub instead of the Philip bridge
It support lots of the in-market smart devices (officially and unofficially)lol I feel like i'm a hundred years old when I read this.
I've got a modem one end of the house and it doesn't reach all the way down the other end. so thinking to get this.
i've got loads of different smart plugs and speakers around the house.do i need this?
The Mi Wifi Repeater 2 will probably suffice for what you are saying
The RACV page gives a model number that shows up as the WIFI Hub (not just smarththings hub) on the samsung page. https://www.samsung.com/au/smart-home/smart-things-wifi-et-w…
This would seem most equivalent to the $199 item on th JB-Hifi page. Mesh router and smartthings hub in one.
https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/samsung-smartthings-wi-fi…
Yes your right
Got JB to price match at $100, thanks OP! Wish I'd seen the 20% off before though else would have just done that…
SAVE40 for 40% off
Thanks, I got 3 x SmartThings Wi-Fi Hub for $178.20!!
you can sell one to my if you want :)
Do you guys know if I can connect this to my net gear nighthawk in some sort of bridge mode and be used to extend my WiFi as well?
No. just like the Highlander movie.. There can be only one, it doesn't play with other WiFi systems
how do the smarthings sensors compare to the aqara ones?
They've just killed the 40% off. :(
Looks like someone made a mistake with the SAVE40 so might be a few emails of not valid purchases
Damn!!!
nooo I hope not
SAVE30 works now for 30% off
Just ordered with thatBeat me to it. I used that code too successfully…
Great SAVE 30 Worked foe me too :)
Noob question, can this be used as a modem/router for NBN?
no, this is a hub to connect to smart devices like light bulbs, door sensor, motion sensor etc.
It still require internet connections (like your computer or smart phone)
the advantage of v3 is now you can connect using Wifi
while in the last gen (v2) requires an ethernet connection (hard wire lan cable)Thanks for sharing this. I prefer wifi connection
ah ok makes sense thanks mate!
Not Modem but i guess router
I think you can. It supports PPPOE so same way that I'm using my Google Wifi solely with my FTTN.

Nice one, OP. That's definitely a ripper price and particularly the starter kit. The sensors alone would set you back about $150 if bought separately. They're great sensors too. Work extremely well with other brand products like my Hubitat hub.
