Does clif bar usually go for half off? When I used to buy them a few years back, I remember them maybe going 20-30% off max.
At woolies every few months they do. I usually stock up.
Carbohydrates for Energy
Do the carbohydrates know this?
These thangs have more than 3x sugar per 100g compared to coke.
These energy bars are literally held together with brown rice syrup (first ingredient in the list) and it has oats, soy barley and rice as its fillers, so yeah it makes sense it has more sugar / carbs than a fizzy drink.
Yes pretty much a carb bar more or less. For something healthier, pay a bit more for Quest bars ($2?), 50 less kcal but much lower carb and higher protein than this. Doesn't taste as good with just 1g sugar though.
Depends on your nutrition goals. For an endurance athlete in a race, carbs are much more important than protein.
Muscles use the Glucose from carbs to fuel the body. I have one cliff bar maybe 30 - 60 mins before my workout. And that gives me the energy boost I need. After the workout I have a proper meal mainly protein with some carbs.
Aren't the post-workout carbs just stored? I don't work out, I have no idea.
Carbs help with recovery. After a good workout your body is depleted of Glycogen which needs to be replaced as soon as possible.
Too much carbs though is not good. You would want a balance of carbs, protein and fats.
@D3NI3D: Right so they are stored, and that's what you want. Got it.
The mint chocolate ones are $17.10 as well ;)
