[Switch] Animal Crossing: New Horizons $52 + Delivery ($0 with Club) via Latitude Pay @ Catch

400

I had an ad for Latitude Pay come up. I think they have a promotion with Catch?

More info about the promotion

You can use this promotion with any item over $35 to get $15 off by paying via Latitude Pay.

I just made a separate deal for Animal Crossing specifically since this is probably the cheapest you can get at the moment.

Note that the promotion is single use only (and I'm assuming it's only for new members).

Normal price for Animal Crossing: New Horizons @ Catch is $67 (Target etc. is $69)

Oh and don't forget your cashback !!

This is how I bought mine:

  • Added a free trial of Club Catch to my cart
  • Added Animal Crossing: New Horizons to my cart
  • Filled in my details
  • Clicked Latitude Pay as my payment option
  • Also subscribed to Club Catch with Latitude Pay
  • Filled more details
  • Made sure Shopback was activated
  • Followed prompts to sign up to Latitute Pay (needs your drivers licence/passport)
  • Check out at $52 !
  • Set reminder to cancel free trial after Animal Crossing arrives

Note Latitude Pay will require a credit check.

I didn't read the terms for this carefully when it first came out and learned the hard way :(

      • oh no, what happened? :(

      • I "failed" the credit check apparently. I was interested to learn how, considering I have no debt (even my hecs is paid), and have defaulted on anything. Unfortunately learning why requires you to apply for a free credit check from their provider, which requires you to email certified copies of id to them - not a chance. If they can "instantly" run a credit check for lattitude based on only my first and last name and current address, there's no way I'm sending them all of my certified id via email.

I've never had a "loan" or a credit card though, so maybe I don't have enough history? It's either that or Optus have screwed me over for the couple of times my internet was late because there wasn't enough money in my direct debit account.

Either way, not worth the hassle.

        • As you said, the most likely reason is because you don't have a loan or credit cards and hence no history for them to check. Apparently this is a common problem for financially prudent people applying for home loans.

Here is an article from Can Star with more information:
          https://www.canstar.com.au/credit-score/can-get-loan-no-cred…

It suggests getting a credit card and paying off the balance each month to help build up your credit history over a year or two (not sure if you have to actually use it). Though it also says it's possible to get a loan without credit history, but requires much more proof.

          • @brendanb: yeah i'd been living with the "i have 3 money and no kids and no debts and a government job who wouldn't give me a loan" mindset, but it is looking more and more like we are following the USA's lead where a credit check is becoming ridiculously important. will have to do my research before going in for my home loan. as you said it is definitely possible, just might be more hassle - my brother got a loan for 450k for ~4% (almost a year ago) without any credit history at all, but he is also an industrial electrician so money is unlikely to ever be an issue. thanks for the canstar link, will give it a geez.

          • @brendanb: Got a home loan without any credit history other than whatever having a pre-paid mobile phone and paying utility bills on time would have built. The banks we applied to also suggested getting one of their credit cards because it "would be wise to build a credit history", they just wanted our credit business before even giving us a home loan.

Don't forget that Canstar isn't some altruistic financial advisory committee, they also have to make money: https://www.canstar.com.au/how-we-get-paid/

        • Was this after you had signed up and received the "approved" email? I've read reviews from people who have made their account, been approved, made a payment and then been banned or had their approval taken away after an alleged review by Latitude.

          • @peppet: nah wouldn't even let me sign up - clicked checkout with latitude on catch, latitude window pops up, asks you to provide email to create account, immediately runs some sort of check that i failed. Funny part is I can't even contact them to see why, as the flow kicked me out before password creation, and I can't use my email as it is already "taken".

Mine just arrived unsealed :( The cartridge and box have no dents or scratches though. I'm really baffled as to why it would be open.

My copy bought on released day weren't sealed either.

Did you buy from Catch too? I contacted Catch and they said they'll do a return or refund. Although I have no confidence that my replacement will arrive brand new. All very odd..

        • Same mine was unsealed but I'm sure it's new

@Zelda: It's in perfect condition so I won't be returning it, but i was robbed of my new-game opening experience :(
