    • +3

Go on, the world needs more tools.

    • Rich people don't visit OZB.

      • +3

haha how do you think they got rich? ;)

        • +5

The same way alot of these millionaires get started. With a billion dollars.

        • +1

Either born in a rich family or a lot of hard work (at least initially).
Rich people don't waste time on OZB. The savings you get from OZB are peanuts.

Where do you live, asking for a friend…

but srsly don't order these.. you can get a knock the door form the popo.. Not joking.. it's illegal without a licence.

    • +6

It is not illegal to own lockpicks. Just don't use them for crime or try them on your own door locks. Cops and insurance frown on it.

    • Lol so many keyboard sheriffs that don't actually know the law

      • -4

lol ordered a lockpick set. Cops rocked up to my house few weeks later. Had to go to court. #ironicstatment (from Wolf).

Oder with caution (at least in VIC). Another mate did the same but nothing ever happened to him so it seems you just have to get unlucky or maybe it depends where you order it from. Dono but gl.

        • Okay just googled it… and the net is saying it's not illegal to own or possess. So wtf? How did I get done for this lol.. Gonna investigate. Please hold.

          • +1

@Anj: What were you charged with? Where did you order it from? Have you had previous dealings with police?

            • +9

@bargainshooter: I ordered it from an official lock pick brand - SouthOrd. My mate ordered of like Amazon or Ali express so it probably didn't scream 'lockpick set' so it wasn't picked up by customs like mine was. No previous dealings with the fuzz

Okay, my best mates a lawyer and they said it IS illegal and the sites are strangely incorrect. I officially got done for 'POSSESS HOUSEBREAKING IMPLEMENTS' which is what the act says below (that they showed me), so makes sense to me. They also said that sites like lockpicksaustralia.com.au when they say things like 'Possession of lock picking tools in and of itself is not illegal. In Australia and New Zealand, intent to commit a crime must be established before the possession of lock picking tools becomes illegal.' Is referring to normal everyday items that can be used as a lockpicking tool (e.g. screwdriver or hammer) but not an actual lock pick set. So unless you are a magician or a locksmith you have no lawful reason to have it, as oppose to having a lawful reason to having a screwdriver (i.e. needing to also screw screws). So it's conflating things and is incorrect. So there ya go. Believe what ya will and I can see the confusion as there are a lot of information saying that it's okay…I trust my friend (and my exp lol) but that doesn't help when it's a random off the net ay? So I just caution anyone and it might be worth a quick phone call to your local cop shop to double-check and save yourself the trouble I got into. Gl and godspeed <3

              Evidence is:

              SUMMARY OFFENCES ACT 1966 - SECT 49D
              Possessing housebreaking implements
              (1) A person must not, without lawful excuse, have an implement of housebreaking in his or her custody or possession.

reasonable and lawful excuse would be: you lost you key to a lock and needed to unlock your padlock without force breaking it.
