Great deal - not all woolies though (my local in VIC not doing it)

    • Yes interesting. Did a search of the Woolies around my area and most are not on special but a couple are.

  • Damn! That's cheap. If I can find any tomorrow I'll buy two packs.

      Is it, tho?

      still Six Dollars Each

      • $8 each is the usual discount price I aim for when I need more. $6 is a definite buy recommendation from me IF they are not made in China. The ones I bought off ebay last year had the filter material missing in the top and so all the filter media just floated out the top.

  • Neither, in VIC. If anyone knows how would be appreciated though!

  • How often do you guys change this filter?

    • About after 8 weeks/two months. I just change them within a day or so when the indicator on the lid starts flashing.

      • Is there a way to change the battery on the lids? Mines dead and can't seem to get it out

        • Some of the timers will pop out with a bit of coaxing but they're all sealed units so you'd need to crack them open to get into it. No idea if the battery is loose or soldered on, I've never seen one naked, but if it's loose you'd be able to change it for a fresh one. Glue it all back together and you're set.

Oh, I forgot to change the filter on mine and it's been going for two years already. Now might probably be a good time to change it thanks op, hopefully I can find it at my woolies.

I usually clean the jug once a fortnight, but replace the filter once every 4 months or so. Sometimes longer.. it depends on the taste of the water.

    • Brita recommends every 4 weeks, but I change ours every 8 weeks or so

      • Just like when the ink indicator is low but you can still get heaps of prints out (or when black is out, you just make all your text magenta)

    • +2

You should be able to taste the difference when the filter is due for a replacement. I don't go by the indicator as the idea is stupid. The filter replacement interval is obviously dependent on how much you use it, not merely based on time.

    • I change my Maxtra filters every 7 weeks despite living in Adelaide with its highly chlorinated water. Only once have I noticed a chlorine taste in my water towards the end of the 7 week period, so that appears to be the sweet spot quality versus value.

    Price in WA is $36

  • +1

    My local woolies shows $24

Fyi Bunnings always have Stefani brand for $20 for 3 that are Maxtra size

    • Have you tried both brands? How do they compare in terms of taste?

    • +9

If you're looking for cheap, Target is $15 for 3 of these. Water tastes just great.

      • +4

I usually get mine from Kmart - same price, $15 for 3 cartridges: https://www.kmart.com.au/product/water-filter-cartridges---3…. Good to know Target has them too, if Kmart is ever out of stock (as has happened in the past).

      • I can taste the difference between Target/Kmart branded filters and Brita. Brita tend to be cleaner IMO, but I only buy them when they're cheap like this (or at Costco, when I happen to be near one).

Probably only at Nelson bay .

Can someone drive to Nelson bay and bring a truck load down to Sydney.

    $18 in SA near me

Still $36 in my local (vic)

    • Me too. All 3 localVIC storws.

      Targeted/select stores

  • Darn it. In WA $36 😞

Kmart sell compatible filters for $15 for 3.

Used them in my Brita Water Jug and they work fine.

    • These are my go to filters

    • Great tip

    • Where are these made?

    • I wasted $15 buying the Target ones and they don't fit in Brita jugs as the jug has 2 lines that slide into the Brita cartridges. Never trusting ozbargain comments again !

  • Anyone have any recommendations on a filtering jug?

    • I got the 3.5L with 2 filters from Costco, which has enough filtered water for my 1.7L kettle.

Just a note, on previous occasions the packs I've bought contained filters made in Germany, however, the most recent pack I bought (pack of 6 from Costco I believe) contained cartridges manufactured in China. Don't know if this was a recent change or something that happened in the past, but just throwing that out there.

    • This specifically says Made in Germany on the Woolies site, if it's accurate

    • Thanks for bringing this up. i bought some from the last woolies special and it was printed "made in china".
so it'll be worthwhile to check before you purchase if that matter to you. And noted it says made in germany on the internet.

Anyone bought some from woolies, would you be able to let us know what country it is made in?

Also people that have bought the kmart version, what country is that made in?

      • All these new stocks are made In china, used to be made in germany. Bought mine from inner west sydney store, made in china. I predict this half price special is here to stay.

    $24 in Sydney metro area

    $36 nearly everywhere in Sydney

  • Still $36 at Queanbeyan(NSW)

  • 36 in WWS st albans, and they won't match their website price.

  • I haven't changed my filter in maybe two years. Am I poisoning myself? I use the jug to filter rainwater from the tank before boiling it for coffee. I tell myself it's fine because I just want to filter out any bugs or whatever and it's getting boiled anyway. Should probably buy some.

as above, check out the Kmart or Target compatible ones.

  • Went to the checkout teenage staff scanned $36. I show the link showing $18. She just override to $18. Went home. Too easy

  • Only the Nelson Bay store has it for $18

  • If your Woolies has Maxtra+ for $18, they should also have Maxtra+ 50% Scale Reduced for $21.

  • All my nearest stores are selling at $32. Does anyone know if there's any store that would price match, like an officeworks for supermarkets perhaps?

  • woolys vary their prices in-state let alone between states - never understand why people post woolly's deals without declaring location because they are area locked mostly not even statewide.

the only national thing about woolys is greed.

  • Made in China, hence cheaper price, I think we’ll be seeing regular half price from now on. Previously all maxtra was made in Germany.

    • Hopefully they will go back to being Made in Germany

  • Yup, these are definitely made in China even though the website says “Germany”. Could be stores clearing out the older stock that’s still made there.

    • No. Ones I've bought are made in Germany (on the box). Scanning up as $18 without any overwrite.

  • Picked up 2 packs from neutral bay store - which is just north of the harbour bridge :)

    • shows as $36 online tho, was it different instore?

      • Yes in store it was $18

  • St Clair nsw $18

  • In case anyone is interested in recycling used Brita filters, there's a free recycling program on the TerraCycle website where you can print free postage labels to send in your used filters. Minimum of 3 filters per shipment.
