Does it feel good being condescending on an internet forum, champ?

      • +3

        Lol over interpretation

  • Yes, thats what I need early in the morning:)

    • Haha,….good morning.

great phone, tempted to buy another, I got mine on release for 1100. And I don't regret it at all. I prefer the features over the pixel 4.

    • How is battery? Can it last
for a day with moderate use?

      • +2

        Sometimes.

I love the Pixel 3, but it's battery life sucks.

I have to consider my charging options before I head out, and then carry a powerbank, car charger, or wall charger, depending on what I'll have access to during the day.

        The battery anxiety is real.

Everything else about the phone is great. I'd buy another one if this died.

Pixel 3 has also been my introduction to wireless charging. No more fumbling with cables or the USB-C port. My phone sits propped up on a stand next to my monitor. Love it.

I dont see how it can be recommended if the battery life is as bad as you describe

          • -4

@Riker88: I think the people that enjoy the phone don't do much on it, or have their expectations incredibly low. No one should recommend this phone, even at this price.

          • +2

@Riker88: Battery life sucks and that’s the most important in a phone no matter how good the features are. Wait for 4A maybe it will be better.

            • @Sygnoze: How bad is bad? My old Samsung S7 normally won't last a day if used in the car for navigating to and from work, podcasts, and a bit of surfing but it's obviously 3 years old

      • does for me, I have to remember to make sure its topped up in the morning. If its not 100% when starting the day it gets dicey.

The camera is great, the fingerprint thing is all I want, its fast and not too big. My next phone will be the pixel 3, there is nothing in any other phone I want right now.

The 128gb unlocked at JB is better for $499

    • +3

Kind of agree, but once go Black you can't go back.

      • Yes I much prefer the black even though I have a case on it. The Vodafone deal was the best but I couldn't justify buying a new phone at the time.

Is it just branded optus, or locked to their network?

  • +4

    Wait for the 4a.

  • Sorry to kind of hijack the thread but I'm looking to send a phone to the mother in law overseas (NZ). I've had one supplier say they can send it overseas as long as it's packaged correctly but AusPost says lithium-ion battery containing devices are prohibited to send to NZ. Has anyone sent a phone to NZ by any chance? Looking at a Pixel 2 XL, because as others have said, the battery life on the 3 sucks unfortunately.

    • Can't you just order online somewhere in NZ and have it sent direct?

Checked the OzB NZ site for deals over there https://www.cheapies.nz/

      • Sorry, I'll make this my last reply because it's off-topic — yeah it's REALLY hard to get Google phones in NZ. Refurbished Pixel 2 XL's go for $999 NZ whereas new ones go for like $500AUD here.

I had this phone exactly 3 days ago, the phone is absolutely beautiful, I loved everything about it except for one thing that bothered me so much I had to return it and get a refund and no it's not battery life, small phones have small batteries that's how it is and you have to deal with it.
What bothered so much were the speakers, to be more precise it was the incredible amount of vibration at the back of the phone, it is a design flaw, the back of it rumbles like if there was a third speaker pointing at the back of the phone from the inside.
It was unbearable and I had to go and return it so beware of this if you're willing to buy it.

You will need to pay out any remaining device payments in full and any applicable device credits or discounts will be forfeited.

        • Vodafone's deal was way better but they're out of stock atm, I have a galaxy s10e right now but will swap it with a pixel 4 next week, if the pixel 3 wouldn't have that speaker issue I'd take it over the pixel 4, it's so sad it has that problem…

  • Well, I am not very convinced to buy this phone after reading some comments here and on productview website. Surprised that giant like Google cant produce phone with better battery.
I have 5 years old Galaxy A3 and never had any issue with it. Only maybe 2 months ago the battery started to drain faster than before. That is the only reason I am looking to buy something newer and possibly similar size.
My shortlisted phones are Pixel (probably will not buy because of battery complaints from others), Xperia XZ1 / 2 Compact (unfortunatelly I cant find any online), One Plus 5, MiA2 Lite , Pocophone F1 or Motorola G7 Power (a bit big for my liking but battery is apparently excellent).

    • Mate if you want better battery life get a phone with at least 4,000mah you won't find a phone this size with such battery, closest you get is the s10e that has 3,100mah but that's it but yes if battery life is the most important to you so better skip this phone

    • Sudden weakening of battery can be a dodgy app. The McDonalds app was draining my phone ridiculously until it was updated.

News: Pixel 4a will be $349 USD for 128gb version! They are trying to compete with Apple iPhone SE. The Pixel 4a 64gb version might be $299 USD! Guessing that will translate to $599 and $649 in Australia (we usually pay GST + $50). Anyway, it's something new to consider for Pixel enthusiasts.

EDIT: Apple iPhone SE is $349 USD, and $749 AUD. If we follow that formula (AUD +GST +$75), then $299 and $349 will translate to $581 and $665.

    • Crazy that Google is asking nearly the same as an SE, while providing such a budget version of specs and features. I just hope they price the Pixel 5 competitively hey. Pixel 5 at $750, then it's starting to become a decent option.

      • Pixel has bigger screen, better battery, and sometimes better camera than the iPhone SE.

        • Fewer updates, worse processor, worse support, bigger phone, and depends what you do on your phone really.
