$20 Store Credit Via Email (Min $100 spend) @ The Good Guys

70

I received $20 worth of TGG voucher. Here’s the thing:
- I did not purchase Google Hub Max or anything which got cancelled. Still received voucher.
- Condition says min $100 spend requires to redeem. Yet I did redeem just the voucher amount without $100 spend
- Just landed in my email with no if and buts. Seems to be working fine. Worth checking your mail.

Before negging this, pls remember this may help JUST someone. Not all.

Cheers.

Where is the bargain by the way?

    • +1

Targeted bargain. Check ur mails and Maybe you could be the one with voucher. That’s a bargain. Maybe not. That’s y this is targeted.

      • -2

Maybe you could be the one with voucher. That’s a bargain.

Not if you can get the item cheaper elsewhere.

        • +1

How about getting these for Free. And that’s two of those. So double Bargain?

How about getting these for Free

Don't need any more rubbish at home.

@jv: Maybe convey to TGG. They may remove from their store, jv?

        • I'm going to get the $19.95 SodaStream bottle refill with my Google Home Max $20 voucher this weekend.

          • @danielh: You are aware that you will forfeit the 5 cents ?

            • @jv: 😂

            • @jv: At the risk on spending more than 5c on stuff I don't want I'm very happy with the loss. Plus the petrol to get there (but I need to go to the Bunnings next door anyway). :-)

What is the point post voucher with your name on it.

    • bragging rights?

      • +1

If the image without the name crossed out people can still try their luck but I won't take this to try.

        • +1

Sorry. There is dedicated barcode/code and pin within email. Which is unique. Can’t share that.
That’s why this certainly seems to be targeted. Why I shared, because I was little confused as to why I was sent voucher. Almost ignored it but decided to try at last moment and it worked. $20 worth of goodies. Free. No min spend.
          Cheers.

          • @PopCounty:

            No min spend.

            Title says otherwise…

            • @jv: Well, that’s what the terms says. Let’s just say between you and me (whisper) you don’t need that 100 bucks spend to get 20 off. Really that simple.

  • When I used my $20 voucher from the Alexa price error, they gave me a further $10 gift voucher to use on another purchase.

    • What did you then get when you spent the $10 gift voucher?

      • +2

        $5 gift voucher.

        • So it's a linear progression?

      • +1

Didn't use it. I have access to the commercial site and pretty much everything there is more than $10 cheaper. The $20 was worthwhile (on something reduced from $119 to $79 so $59) but $10 credit at TGG? Meh.

        • Yeah after getting the Commercial site through Sunsuper, it's hard to pay the advertised prices now on TGG… even with the voucher and discounted gift cards.

I posted this on another post but will copy paste here to describe my experience at TGG with their Store Credit:

"I went to TGG this morning. Picked an item and requested a pricematch, which they agreed to. Went to the cashier to make the payment and I asked her to use the store credit. She then said "The store credit can only be used on the ticket price/ (inflated) RRP and not on negotiated price" so she bumped the price back to RRP. WTF TGG!!! Scam!!"

PS: My $20 credit was from the Google Nest Max deal. I didn't get any other store credit

    • Did you read the T&C's ???

A Store Credit can be used in-store or online and cannot be used on purchases of The Good Guys Home Services installation, Tech services, delivery, Gold Service Extras, gift cards, Netflix, iTunes cards, Apple, AEG, ASKO, Miele, Neff, Falcon or purchases via The Good Guys eBay online store. Store Credit can only be used on ticket price - no further discounts. Store Credit barcode is unique and can only be redeemed once. Yes I did read it but that's not my point. I found items, which I was interested in to be cheaper elsewhere compared with TGG's RRP and in most cases the difference was more than $20. My point being, if they are issuing store credit then it should be considered as good as "cash" and I should be able to use it on the negotiated price and not the RRP, which I am not buying against. Just because it's in their T&Cs, doesn't make it right.

Do you not understand the term T&C's

They gave you a voucher. You already got your refund separately. If you wanted to get the 'negotiated' price, you could have use your refund instead. I'm sure they would not have had a problem with that.

          • +1

@jv: I spent my time and energy placing the order and then spent more time chasing the order status and then had to wait for 6 days to get the refund. I consider this $20 as a compensation for "my lost effort". My refund was my right for the item that THEY refused to deliver that was against THEIR advertised price. These are just my views and not an opinion that I am forcing on anybody.

              @ozioziozi:

I consider this $20 as a compensation for "my lost effort".

They were not required to 'compensate' you…

Out of goodwill, they gave you a voucher with conditions.

You were under no obligation to accept or use the voucher if you did not agree with all the conditions.

            • +1

@ozioziozi: I think most would not agree with your interpretation on this one, oz.
The store credit was a gift, plainly and simply. They didn't have to give it to you - it was given as a goodwill gesture to recognize a pricing error. All Good Guys store credit is subject to terms and conditions which are clearly stated right there on the voucher.
It's good 'Ozbargain practice' to double down and get maximum discount but in this case it was not possible and it may have surprised you to be referred to the terms and conditions at the point of sale.
As for owing you in some way for your "lost effort". Yeah…nah. I think most would agree that they just don't.
I agree that their prices are high. I didn't realize how high until I trawled around looking something t buy with my own store credit, so they may well have done themselves no favors issuing it.

For what it's worth, I think it varies by individual store as to how much they enforce the T&Cs. From reading the Concierge Credits (the extended warranty program where you get $20 credits every now and then) they have the same condition:

Each Concierge Store Credit is unique, can only be redeemed once
and must be used by the expiry date as it cannot be re-issued. $20
Concierge Store Credits can only be used on the ticket price of
      products, no further discounts apply
      . $20 Concierge Store Credit
offers cannot be used in conjunction with any other store credit offers.
Concierge Store Credits cannot be exchanged for cash. Purchases
using store credits must be fully paid for and dispatched by the expiry
date of the store credit, unless a product is on order, in which case
it must be fully paid for prior to the store credit expiring. Concierge
Store Credits cannot be used to purchase gift cards, epay and iTunes
cards, products from The Good Guys eBay store and excludes certain
brands selected by The Good Guys at its discretion such as Apple,
AEG, ASKO, Miele, Neff, Bertazzoni, La Germania, Falcon and other
      agency brands.

However I've had success using these to buy price matched items like Hue dimmer switches, and even gift cards. So in other words, YMMV.

One thing I never noticed before though was the mention of the term 'agency brands'… I guess they're just stores within a store!

  • I bought an XBox Wireless Controller and a Play & Charge Kit ONLINE.
The Play & Charge Kit is good.
The XBox Wireless Controller is not in the sealed box, the seal was taken off by someone.
I kept the box like that, took the photos, went to online inquiry, submitted an inquiry, they didn't answer me for one week.
Then I submitted another inquiry, they still didn't answer me.

Then I had to open and used the product, because I can't wait anymore.

I got an email to review The Good Guys and the product I purchased, after I submitted the review. They replied to my inquiry after 1 hour, they said that if I have a problem with the delivered product, I have to bring it to the nearest store to claim. (Wtf, I purchased online because I don't want to go out during covid-19 outbreak, now they asked me to go to the store). I called them again, they continue saying that they can't do anything or they can't give a return label, the only thing I can do is to bring it to the nearest store. I gave up!

    • Is there anything to indicate it was used or do you think it could've had broken seal because they take it out for the display unit?

IMO if you aren't happy with it/not willing to accept it since it's not brand new as advertised, I wouldn't have used it and just rejected it immediately and called for a refund.

      • I didn't use it for 2 weeks to wait for them, kept in the box, they ignored my email. Then I had to use it. Then I received the email for review thegoodguys, after I submitted the feedback for 1 hour, they replied my inquiry 2 weeks ago. And they kept asking me to bring it to the store instead of providing me the return label.

I ordered only and paid for delivery fee because I don't want to go out during covid-19 outbreak, but they can't do anything, they just asked me to go to the store.

      • To be clear, the seal was broken, when opening it for the first time, it has finger print in that brand new controller.
