  • Can this size be formatted to fat32?

    • +4

Yes any size can be format to fat 32 , but need software to do it. Auto format from phone or any device will auto exfat or ntfs. Very easy on windows with fat32 format software.

      • +5

This is true for currently available microsds
But 2TiB is is the max volume size for fat32.
        This is around 2.2TB

        • around 2.2TB

          Wut?

          • +4

            @Diji1: 2 TiB is 2 Tebibytes, or 2 x 1024 x 1024 x 1024 x 1024 bytes, or 2,199,023,255,552 bytes

so 2 Tebibytes is about 2.2 Terabytes or 2.2TB.

          • @Diji1: TiB (Tebibytes) are slightly bigger than TB (Terabytes)
TiB are 1024 gibibytes and gibibytes are 1024 mebibytes and so on, but storage manufacturers make TB and GB, which is a straight base 1000.
            2TB is 2,000,000,000,000 Bytes, but 2Tib is 2,199,023,255,552 bytes

      google guiformat.exe

      resolved.

    • Excuse me but they're curves32

  • +4

    or Nintendo Switch.

Got one during black friday sales.
Kids are trying hard to fill it up…

    • Kids as in you?

    • Thanks for letting us know

      • You're welcome.

  • +1

    How much is this usually?

  • +4

Got one of these in Black Friday deals. No regrets. All the eShop sales we've been having recently have made me go more digital on my Switch (with a few exceptions).

  • Still remember the good ol times when you could get one for $69 …. Last december

    • Lol the economy has changed a bit since then!

  • The 200GB variation of this card wasn't stable on my Switch. I'll stick with Samsung Evo Plus for now.

    • do you have the exact specs of the Samsung evo plus that you reckon works really well for the switch? :)

    • +2

No issues with the 200GB SanDisk in my Switch.

      • +2

Same, no issue with 200gb sandisk with Switch.

    • +1

All my SanDisk cards have been less reliable compared to my Samsung Evo.

However, my SanDisk SSDs are pretty good. I wonder what's going on with that.

    • I had random weirdness with a 128Gb patriot. Bought a 5 pack, so I tried another… No problems. All cards worked in any/all other devices.

  • Anyone know what is involved in migrating from an existing 64Gb SD card (used with Nintendo Switch) to this? Is it simply copying files, or is there something switch-specific that needs to be done?

    • +1

Prob best to copy to internal storage, swap cards and repeat - at least that can be done now…

    • iv done this and it worked.

    • Simple copy and paste works fine if your games were downloaded to the card.

  • jesus christ. this thing is twice the size of my laptop drive.

    • +9

      And about 10 times slower!

      • +1

true lol…but it's crazy how much (assuming many will get this for phones) data people keep on their phones. And a lot not able to be backed up.

    • +7

Wow your laptop must be tiny! How do you type on something that small?

      • Ever tried using a base model Macbook Pro mate?

      • lol…gold!!!! well played. love the lateral thinking lol

  • wow, nice one - tempted but maybe later

  • -1

Do not buy this sd card for laptop storage expasion. The data transfer rate of this card is only 10-15m in most case. Buy samsung evo+ if you dont need big storage expasion. Sandisk Ultra is complete trash

    • +2

It really depends on what you use the additional storage for.

I have an old 128gb I use to store movies when I travel(not anytime soon lol), perfectly fine for that type of thing.

    • Not really, depending on your device.
      See this test:
      https://www.gsmarena.com/sandisk_ultra_400gb_microsd_review-…

I'm getting pretty much similar results (90MB/s reads, 60-70MB write) on my mobile phone

EDIT: There's plenty of fakes, so if you don't then likely you don't have genuine Sandisk product

  • +9

And here I was getting ready to post my first deal in 5 years… ah well.

    Still bought it

    • Hahaha at least you got some cred

    • Sorry for stealing your thunder…..

    • do you still live near eastgarden?

  • +2

We really are living in the future - 400 gigabytes in a space the size of your fingernail!

    • +4

imagine the capacity if these were all jammed into a 2.5 or 3.5 form factor and joined up!

    • You have small fingernails…

But seriously, I whacked one of these in my phone and it's all I could ever need. I so rarely I go anywhere I can't stream that even with all local copies of YTM, Netflix etc turned on I still have lots of space.

      • You don't have two 'little fingers'??

    • What even crazier is you can buy 1TB microSD cards now.

  • +1

Are these any good for the DJI Mavic Air 1? Not sure if I should get this or something like https://www.amazon.com.au/SanDisk-Extreme-Micro-Memory-Perfo… that (128gb)

    • Id also like to know, looks like we posted at the near synchronous time

  • Would this be borderline performance wise for GoPro 7 or DJI Mavic Air?

    • For GoPro it should be fine. For Mavic you need a U3 card.

  • Selecting other seller: $69.95+ $5.50 delivery (https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B074RNRM2B/ref=crt_ewc_…)

    • Any idea How good is this seller?

      • No very good looking at the reviews

        • No idea tbh, but has 4 reviews, the only bad one is the oldest one ¯_(ツ)_/¯

  • How does this go in a switch? Currently have a Sandisk extreme

  • Think Samsung EVO+ is better in terms of speed?

    • Yes. Ultra is their budget line, the Extreme product line gives equal performance to EVO+.

  • Selecting other sellers: there are 3 cheaper sellers the the OP. The cheapest has terrible reviews. Not sure about the others…

  • Price is going down now at the time of me posting $87.37

    • +1

I wonder how long before it gets down to the $69.90 it sold for back in December 2019?

  • +2
  • its still amazing to think, you can hold 400gb in a tiny looking chip. 10tb micro will be reality soon

    • -1

No it won't. 2TB is the maximum the SDXC specification supports, anything larger won't be supported by current devices.

      • +3

i mean further generations, felt like only yesterday i had 512mb micros

  • Dang deal already expired

    • Back in stock by $90.95 now

  • I want to use this to backup my laptop (lenovo thinkpad) 256GB. Will it work ? Thanks in advance.

    • If your ThinkPad has a microSD slot it should be fine. I use this card as additional storage for my Surface Pro, but less critical data such as download and OneDrive local data.

      • Yes it does. I basically want to do imaging in case something goes wrong, such as theft or simply laptop breaks down.
