Wonder how it compares to the Zzz Atelier mattresses

  • Anyone now anything about these?

    Care to add 2 cents?

I would like to know too..

Im not usually one to go with the phrase "get what you pay for" but there has to be a difference between somewhere like MakinMattresses, where they're 1k+ factory direct, vs this, which is sub 300 including shipping.

Also there doesn't seem to be firmness options, I need firm.

      • Hi MasterScythe,

For firmer options (pocket springs), Please see below (from our outlet store):

      • FWIW I recently bought the below online after doing my research if you have access choice have a good article on the mattresses in a box vs shopfront retailers (https://www.choice.com.au/home-and-living/bedroom/mattresses…) :

Zinus iCoil Pocket Spring + Memory Foam Queen Mattress 34cm Box Top | Strong Coils, 4 Layers Foam - Med Soft
2 of Zinus Ultima Pocket Spring Double Mattress - 30cm Euro Top | Strong Edge & Coil System, Quality Foams - Med Soft

All of them feel pretty good and not all all indicative of their price.

The mattress industry is weird, different companies

    Hi All,

    Thanks for your interest.

Our new mattress features 2mm wire gauge pocket coils for firm, deep down support that minimise customer disturbance.
This is thicker wire than lots of competitors use; that means it lasts longer and is more supportive (you'll find you get initial pressure relief backed by deep down support).

Our iCoil Pocket coil technology means if you roll over, your partner doesn't feel it, giving you a deeper undisturbed sleep.
Our iCoil coil design gives you great support (it's initially soft, then quickly firms to keep your body in alignment).
Our mattress also features deep layers of high-quality foam; significantly more than most companies offer at these price points.

We make it all ourselves in one of the world's largest mattress factories using the latest in foam technology. All of our foams are Certipur-US certified so you know they are made of quality ingredients.

    As for coil counts, it depends on the sizing. For S - 406, D - 609, Q - 690, K - 840.

Our mattress features a reinforced edge. However, If you specifically need a strong seating edge, then try our Hybrid or (what are we calling the new MSHPBT range) mattresses which feature additional full perimeter edge support, usually only found on mattresses costing significantly more.

Re. Competitor, The biggest difference is that our competitors don't make their mattresses themselves; they buy them from third party factories. We are able to offer a superior product at a great price because we make them ourselves.
At the end of the day, you be the judge! We'd love you to give it a try, and we're confident that you'll join our millions of happy customers around the world : )

thanks for the detailed response! do you do delivery and pick up my old one as well? do you still offer 100 nights trial?

      • Hi cmiucx,

Thank you for coming back to us so quickly. All of our mattresses are delivered direct to your door but unfortunately we don't have the ability to pick up customer's mattresses yet.

At this stage, we aren't offering a 100 night sleep trial in Australia it is only available on our website based in America, however we do believe that if you find the right mattress for your needs, you won't need to return it. We are happy to help you with your decision, if you would like to send us a direct message.

        • Hey Zinus,

          Thanks for all the details.

I purchased the orginal mattress about 30 mins ago. After reading your posts (I like a firm mattress) it looks like I may need the hybrid or the firmer models.

Is it possible to contact someone to change to one of these firmer models?

          Thanks :)

@Dany Boy 99: Hi Dany Boy,

Please send us a DM for order no or name. I will relay this to our customer service team.

    • Right, 690 coils in the Queen, vs 4000 in the making mattresses, but they are over 1k.

So for the price, probably pretty good, but there is a massive difference.

  • Very tempted…

  • what is the firmness rating?

    • Hi dat deal tho,

      This one is Medium Plush.

      Zinus

which has the hardest firmness rating?

        • Hi dat deal tho,

May I know which mattresses are you comparing? Hybrid vs Performance Plus?

          Zinus

          • @Zinus Australia: from your comments there are 3 types?

            1. Tightop Pocket Spring Memory Foam Mattress
            2. Hybrid
            3. Performance Plus

i just wondering which ones has the hardest firm rate. i don't like soft bed, they hurt my bones.

            • +1

              @kekw: Hi dat deal tho,

Performance Plus is softer than Tightop and Hybrid.

Between Tightop and Hybrid, We can't really compare based on the Firmness level as it will have different 'Feel' due to different materials. Hybrid will give you the sinking feeling but firm (full body support).
Hybrid range features a high density foam and copper memory foam (antibacterial) while Tightop features a comfort foam and high density foam (added comfort).

FYI Aldi also have simular mattress but cheaper. I have seen them still in stock in the few Aldi's I have been to in the last few days.

I got the single for $149 and it's great, very impressed firm with nice top layer.

  • Just a reminder:

MakinMattresses is made in Australia, owned by Australians, and supports local manufacturing and employment.
They are a lot cheaper than the big name brands, but all the money stays here.

It's these little decisions that make a big difference.

    • And at even double the price, ID consider it.

But most of them are 4x or so the cost.

      Still considering them though.

My quick review. I’ve bought two Zinus mattresses (hybrid pocket spring) and like them. Find them not too firm (I’ve previously had an Ecosa which I found much firmer) so think this is more medium in terms of firmness. My wife doesn’t think it gets warm (as we both felt warm sleeping on the Ecosa) as this is sometimes an issue with these type of mattresses because of the memory foam. Mattresses come rolled in a box, vacuum sealed. Overall, I’m very happy with the purchase (hence we bought another for one of the kids) and have recommended them to friends that wanted a good quality mattress in a box (comparing other mattress in box products).

I’ve also bought a Zinus metal queen frame with a wooden head board and absolutely recommend it. Easy to assemble, very sturdy and good quality. Has little innovations like Velcro connecting the slats to the base so they don’t shift (and they are full length wood.. not those ones that sit in crappy black connectors) as well as anti slip material to stop a mattress from moving when placed on top.

    • Do these mattresses have edge support? I can't imagine they have it if they are delivered in a box, but would like to know your thoughts.

  • This helped me with reading up on their variations (not sure if all available atm): https://www.zinus.com/collections/mattress-finder

  • Do you offer super king bed that are 25cm in height?
