Wish I could get a Switch Neon to use it on. 😩

      • Old hardware? The Switch is 3 years old. If you're talking about the power of it, being a bit more powerful than a 360/PS3, it's pretty good we can get that power in handheld.

          • @PainToad: this is what Nintendo's done since the 80's, what do you expect? If you don't like it, don't buy it…

            • @dsvid: Umm, no. The SNES and the 64 were more powerful than the competition and the GameCube wasn’t a sloth either. The selling of sub-par hardware and relying on software didn’t start until the Wii.

Very sad you can’t have a conversation without fan boys having a sook.

Btw, I’ve been fan of Nintendo since I got my SNES.

              • @PainToad: Game Boy, Game Boy Advance, DS, 3DS all used relatively out of date hardware compared to what the competition had at the time.

Guess I should have specified their portables.

I mean I'd love a more powerful Switch, too, but my point is that it's unsurprising for Nintendo given that track record.

                • @dsvid: Very good point with the portables.

  • I was just at my jb and they said they were sold out

    • kinda crazy that in this day of downloads games "sell out"

      • +13

Not really, it's $79.95 on the eShop which is rediculous.

        • -1

nah i meant that JB should really sell downloads aswell

        • +9

Just buy two vouchers for 67.5 each using Nintendo online.

      • +7

The resale value on first party Nintendo games is so high you'd be mad to NOT buy physical.

        • +3

On the contrary, the quality of first party Nintendo titles is so high why would you wanna sell them?

Animal Crossing is the perfect digital only game, a game designed for short bursts, gimped by the ability to ONLY allow one system per save….. (so can't take it on the go with a Lite and play at home with an original for instance).

        • This times 100. If you buy digital games you are a sucker.
I just sold Mario maker Wii U for $40!
Nintendo games keep value because they never go one sale.

          • @zombrex: They are just high quality games for no needing to go on sale.
They keep their own values not like fifa 18, 19, 20 and non stop.

      • Well it doesn't help if the publisher ships less physical copies than is needed because they anticipate more downloads.
Or if demand is more than expected.

  • +2

    Is this a good game?

    • +3

It's a good time sink. You dig fossils, catch bugs, talk to neighbours, build a little island village. There's a certain peacefulness to it. Not for everyone though, maybe check out some gameplay to see how you feel.

    • +5

Initially I didn't like it but now I find this game really addictive especially after you unlock terraforming. I spent the entire day yesterday playing it >_<

    • +5

I like Luigis Mansion over this.

    • +4

I love it, it's very relaxing and you just constantly want to improve your island so it's addictive. It's also perfect for people who just want to play for a little per day. I still work full time and on my days off, plus with the crappy weather i've been playing for at least 4-6 hours a day, or an hour or 2 on days when I work. Some people I know who aren't essential workers are practically living on the game, whilst normally that would be rather unhealthy, with the current times I know it is definitely helping people keep sane right now. It's a great escape, and it's so pretty and positive it just makes you feel happy when playing.

The game style might not be for everyone though.

      • Does it require internet (online)?

        • +2

It does not unless you want to play with friends then you need a membership.

    • Judging by the happy talk here today, you can see a rosy picture of this game.

  • +9

The real-time syncing mechanism of this game makes me wake up early to get turnips 3 Sundays in a row, and now my life just gets healthier.

    • +9

Meanwhile I'm staying up until 5am, it's ruining mine! D:

    • +4

This game made me realise that people waking up before 12pm is considered 'early'.

      • +1

Oh well some of us still get a life every Saturday night

        • -1

Right cause you ain't living unless you're getting pissed at the pub every saturday night

  • +8

Over 100 hours and I'm kinda losing interest…. but it's easily my most played Switch game.

If they allow cloud saves so I can utilise my Switch Lite as well I'd probably enjoy it all over again.

    • +6

Yep I've put over 100 hours into this as well and now I just play for about 10 mins every day just to do my 'dailies'.

I can pinpoint the exact moment I completely lost interest in the game, the poorly thought out Bunny day event. For an event you could complete in under a day, it was stretched out to two weeks. No harm in that as some people have more time to play over others, but the fact the stupid eggs replaced fish, minerals and other items was stupid. I gave up after that point as it sucked all joy out of playing.

      • +1

I started playing after the bunny day event and i'm so glad… I don't know one person who enjoyed it.

      • Yeah bunny day hurt.

I was time jumping trying to find rare bugs and spent dozens of hours in January and still need many ffs….

Finishing museum was my real aim.

    • Considering it's designed for you to put 100hrs over a year. It's not really a surprise you're losing interest, that's about the extent of the game.

If you don't enjoy the creative side or 100% collections (without time travel), you're done, it's more of the same forever and the events just end up repeating. It'll take some major DLC to bring anything new.

(Though I could take more of those puzzle islands, they should expand on that a lot, wasn't too bad…just too simple)

      • Dw, I fully understand. I have played the previous titles a fair bit. They can be a bit repetitive, so thankfully they are spaced out alot.

I do enjoy it, but it was just frustrating trying to complete the museum so I could then devote more time to designing.

It's still great and I wont fully give up.

  • +1

I've probably clocked 20 hours and I've already lost interest. Same thing happened with new leaf.. Just jumped on the band wagon I guess. Maybe I should finally dig some time into zelda.

  • +3

15 hours in and absolutely loving it!! No end in sight, just beginning. Amazing game.

    Only negatives:
    - Local co-op sucks
    - Main tools breaking doesn't make sense
    - Can't mass select more than 1 fruit to eat, some silly tedious things like that

    • Turnips can be eaten 10 at a time.

  • +1

Just wondering… If you guys have a Switch, don't you guys can use e-Nintendo shop to purchase this?

Is there any reason you guys need to get physical copy? Perhaps for trading purposes?

    • +1

on the e-shop it costs about $10 more!! :(

      • +1

I waited for a physical copy for weeks and it wasn't getting restocked so I went digital. I'd rather pay a little extra for digital than wait indefinitely for the next batch of physical games to become available. Got around 100 hours in it already.

      • If you use Nintendo online you can buy pairs of AAA title vouchers for $67.5 each, which works out to be cheaper than this.

        • If you use AAMI you can buy this game for 65.55 each in JB, which works out to be cheaper than 67.5.

    • +1

Plenty reasons why some people buy physical games.

      • Households with more than one Switch console.
      • You are basically 'trying out' the game. If you don't like it you can sell it.
      • Some people like to have a physical collection of video games.
      • That first point is void for every game but this. You can share digital titles simultaneously, can't do that with physical. This one only allows one console…

  • +2

Good game. Great to play with friends online. I’m 300hrs in 😅

  • Get it from catch.com.au website. It's only selling at $67 with free shipping if you have club catch - https://www.catch.com.au/product/nintendo-switch-animal-cros…

  • $69 from Big W with free click and collect, or shipping from $3.90.

  • Just picked up a copy from Brighton JB - couple more in stock at front counter

    • +1

They updated their website as well, in stock again.
