Finally a lavazza deal! Coles has lavazza on special at the moment.
Very cheap for lavazza coffee, usually around $35/kg on average :D

yea i saw that, everytime i walked into woolies or coles to suss it out it was never near that price :/
Maybe it's one of Coles soulless marketing ploys… offer it at reduced priced, while advertising a lower regular price so you think their regular prices are low. then in 3 weeks, whack the price back up to $35.
According to the unreliable grocery watch sites Woolies have it at about $35, but an ozbargain listing had it onsale for $17 earlier in the year.
Moral of the story? FOR THE SAKE OF BABY JESUS never ever pay $35 for 1kg of this coffee!
What, not even if it has passed through the gut of some animal? Sacrilege!
I'm kidding, of course! But then to each his own.
I noticed this morning Lavazza is $32 at IGA. It would have to be good.
Is Lavazza better than Dimattina???
IMHO, no.
It is, however, marginally better than Nescafe Blend 43. Marginally.
wasnt it ~$8.xx (500g) at woolies last week
yep - I purchased
How does it compare to vittoria for taste?
As in "how does my nans sigma compare to your nans datsun down the quarter mile at eastern creek"?
Unless you can use 1kg of pre-ground coffee in 2-3 weeks, I wouldn't recommend getting the pre-ground. Ground coffee does not store well and deteriorates quickly when opened.
Buying the beans whole and grinding it up yourself using a coffee grinder is a much better way to go.
And given that you don't know how long they've been on the shelf beforehand, it may well have been ground for a lot longer.
eew stale supermarket beans. fresh roast is far better.
If you were a real coffee snob, you'd grow your own coffee trees.
"Tree to the cup in one hour or, ewwww, stale."
Baybeans why don't you post up a good deal and save those of us that are considering this deal.
My local discount green grocer sells the ground 250 gram version of this for $4.99 all day every day. Don't rely on Coles or Woolies when it comes to discount coffee.
How do these compare to Vittoria? So far I've used Vittoria and a cheapo Costco one lol.
me personally i prefer lavazza over vittoria
I also prefer lavazza over vittoria, but, as nubzy was saying, if you really care about taste, get ones from local shops that have been roasted recently. Generally, beans are considered stale about 3 weeks after roasting and 3 mins after grounding. But, if you can't tell difference, who cares…
spot on moo!
and 3 mins after grounding
The pre-ground coffee is fine when you first open the pack, but loses aroma by the time you finish it. Thats why I grind my own.
Foil packs are very good at stopping oxidation and loss of volatile aromatic compounds, but they cannot stop what happens in a coffee snobs mind.

All very well for those who have someone nearby who roasts it. There actually is a local company here but their coffee tastes like mud.
Based on the image you uploaded, Colles regular price is $24.95/kg.
