Seems good, but the price is crazy. Even at best this thing isn't worth that price.

CNET is probably respected as much as linus for audio reviews: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mo6Cyj0lI1Q

At this price if you actually care about sound ability, go custom.

    • I totally agree, I'm excited to get them but not at this price. Linus' biggest complaint was the functionality of the app which I'm certain will improve over time.

Jim didn't love them and he is my favourite reviewer.

      https://youtu.be/exLR56NY7O0

      • Yea would be worth considering if you need this style of buds at the $200 mark. I'd rather go FiiO UTWS1 with custom buds for less $ if you are after sound ability.

      • Had the Sony WF-1000XM3, but they had some issues with the touch controls and the auto pause feature so I took them back to JBHIFI for warranty and got these Sennheiser in exchange. Got them to price match Amazon so only added an extra $15. I watched many reviews of the product and many didn’t think they were the best value. I’ve used them for 3 days now and i think they’re great. It does everything that the Sony’s do but better (except for the app). Although being better, I would still recommend purchasing the Sonys over the Sennheisers simply because it is much better value. Especially now that the Sonys are only $299. Hope this helps anyone :)

EDIT: I agree with many reviews saying these are the best sounding True Wireless Earbuds

Even at best this thing isn't worth that price.

Obviously subjective, but it's worth it to me.

I use mine every day single day for work (HINT: tax time coming up) and/or leisure. Even if I only use them for a year, that's just over $1/day for audio quality that I really enjoy/appreciate.

      • Coming from the originals, they were the same as cheapo chinese buds for me, mic quality was terrible, fit was average, build quality well below average, the app was almost unusable if you actually value tuning unless all you wanted was bass, and the sound IMO was for bass heads. The second set increases battery life a little, adds anc, and remains the same. The only thing going for these is that they last 7 hours. 100% though if somehow they are comfortable for you to wear every single day all day, then seems worth it if you like the brand etc. I couldn't even stand them listening to podcasts as some deep voices just became a boomy mess

As always, it's a case of YMMV. So many variables from use case scenarios, companion technology (eg which phone you use) and - most importantly - the fact that we all have different hearing.

          • Audio - love the originals and anticipate the new ones won't be a step backwards.

          • Mic - I use them in preference to my employer-issued Jabra Evolve 75 - giving-up the ANC in favour of better mic response (esp for Teams and Skype).

          • App - I think I've used it once and never had to touch it since. FAR from perfect, but it does the job.

          • Battery - Definitely looking forward to better battery life with the V2.

          • Comfort - Superb.

          • Brand - Not a factor for me AT ALL. I literally have draws and stands full of headphone tech from Sony, Audio Technica, Beyerdynamic, Focal, Jabra, Bose etc right through to $2 shop throw-aways. I buy for how they sound first and foremost and not for the label on the box. Similarly, I've jumped between six TV brands in the last 10 years for the same reason.

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: Coming from Jabra 65t, of which the mic was above average, the Momentum TWS was a massive step down if there was any noise in the background at all. I think the 65t/75t is overall a much better office device, but glad that these suit you, I think they are decent generic buds.

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: Edit: this comment is for OnlinePred. Can’t disagree more. I have had my first gen for more than a year and I love them and use them everyday. Yes the battery drain is an issue but if you use them everyday then it’s not really an issue anyway. I have tried so many others and nothing satisfy me like a Sennheiser. I also use the Momentum 3 and use them for business calls. Sure there are better for phone calls but ultimately sound comes first and both the earbuds and headphones are perfect for me. Everyone is different when it comes to these things especially how we all perceive as good sound.

@[Deactivated]: In the same boat as you. I have a collection of headphones from the brands you’ve mentioned. My current favourite of them is the DT1990 from Beyerdynamic. These Sennheisers somehow have a similar frequency response as those headphones - minus the treble peak and the benefits of having a larger open back design. If sound is all you care about, it’ll be hard to find another pair that comes close to the Sennheisers. From the top of my head, I’ve heard the ones from Master & Dynamic are quite good

            • @rt1028: Oh snap! I use DT1990s with a basic headphone amp (Schiit Magni) with my turntable setup :-)

Our ears may share some DNA. Ewwwwww.

    • CNET is probably respected as much as linus for audio reviews

So why are you posting it?

      • Because it might be relevant to the poster?

    • is the new Apple Inc?

  • Yikes.

  • +1

Still too expensive even with the discount.

  • Thanks OP! I'm using the first-gen Momentum True Wireless buds and love them for comfort and audio quality. Time to bite the bullet on an upgrade.

I will also say, from first-hand experience, that Sennheiser Australia warranty support is SUPERB. About two months after the warranty expired, a crackle developed in the right earbud. I followed the support link on their website and dropped them a line. I was asked to post them in along with proof of purchase (QFF Store redemption) to their tech services centre.

Within a week I received confirmation that they'd confirmed the fault and would honour the warranty claim. Two days later a courier dropped off a brand new retail set of buds (I assumed they'd just replace the one faulty bud).

As wired headphones, these aren’t considered to be amazing. I can’t see the value in these.

  • +2

Damn these things are more expensive that airpods pro @@

    • +1

I'd take these over the airpods pro any day.

      • +2

        Just wondering - why?

        • Most OZB are afraid of apple products

          • @onlinepred: I have noticed this.

I don't know, it's just nice to hear a reason why someone doesn't like something - what's better, what's worse, and why.

            • @Droz: I think it stems from not wanting to conform. Everyone has an iPhone, they are expensive, I can buy a cheaper product that is better in the XXXXX area. I guess people also miss certain aspects of Apple products, like Airpods, everyone says how they don't sound good, entirely missed that they are an open design earbud with the quickest connection ability, the ability to talk to people on calls and not sound like you are talking through a pillow, and seemingly the most reliable connection between buds. They just focus on "XXXX has better sound quality"

It's funny as these days, Apple products are actually decently priced, while other companies try and get closer to them in term of build materials etc.

  • +1

First version didn't review that we'll, no rtings review so hard to directly compare if new ones are better.

    • the first version was still praise for being the best sounding TW earphones at the time, and I think this version 2 fixes many of the flaws while still improving on the sound quality

Bass heavy and inaccurate sound profile, not "best sounding" at all. i.e. treble accuracy is poor

        • SoundGuys
          WhatHiFi
          TechRadar

All say the v1 is very good sounding.

I don't really like rtings when it comes to headphones and earphones, like Jabra 65t vs Seinheiser Momentum TW, they say Jabra has better sound which is definitely not right to my ears at least.

          • +1

@ln28909: Impartial technical review vs some guys anecdotal opinion.

            science vs faith.

            • @noise36: rtings takes everything into accounts even though, there is limitations in how you can hear and how you can use a product etc, so the cons that they mention are sometimes not even applicable. I have seen this a few times.

              • +1

@ln28909: Yes you definitely have to look at the detail of rtings reviews.

Lots of people think bass heavy = good sound and they rate accurate sounding headphones poorly, see it all the time.

            • @noise36: To be fair though, rtings is not a good place to find out if you will like the actual sound of the device. The passive/active/comfort etc are good to gauge, but not sound.

              • +1

@onlinepred: They have thorough technical reviews of the sound quality, goes into detail of bass, mids, treble more than any other reviewer, you just need to read it, dont just stop at the overall score.

                • +1

@noise36: 100%, but for example, I've got loads of headphones, and my favourite pair by far, as in the pair I would sit in a quiet room and critically listen to, fared very poorly in their sound technical tests. Even headphones that are used throughout the music/recording/mastering industry are rated VERY poorly on rtings. So use them if you want to know technically what they can do

          • +1

@ln28909: All the reviews from these guys still don't mean they were not overly bass heavy, trying to please the mass market of beats users.

        • +2

I trust my ears and my usage needs. I don't generally trust ratings sites and/or potentially conflicted reviewers.

          They are brilliant.

          YMMV.

          • @[Deactivated]:

            I trust my ears

            And there's the problem.

            Your ears are unreliable.

            That's according to science.

Most audiophiles pretend they are the one special case which science has never found.

            • @Diji1: I literally have no idea what point you're trying to make here but:

              1. I'm not interested in arguing with an anonymous random on the internet

              2. It's my money and I buy what works best for me. For the same reason I might choose high-end earbuds, I might also choose a $5.00 bottle of wine - it's just right for me. I don't really care if they are not best product for everyone/someone else.

              @Diji1:

              which science has never found.

              Whats the testing criteria?

After spending 3 years legally blind my ears really picked up.

I can tune to within about 5% of flat, by ear.

Ive made a hobby (possibly, soon, a business) out of tuning custom audio setups.

Since music and sound is to be consumed, most science is bad at taking the listener into account.

For example, my mate has industrial deafness, so when I finished tuning his big car build 'perfectly', I gritted my teeth and threw +2dB across the entire top end…. ow to me, but "I've never heard anything so clear in mg life!" To him.

If the test involves making the customer happy, ill take it for sure.

If its just hurr durr this is mathematicLly flat, then no.

Just like food, you cant tell someone to only eat sprouts of they make them vomit.

You HAVE to take users into account when something is interally consumed. Sound, vision, food, anything.

  • Remember that AirPods pro has unbeatable integration with iPhones and Apple Watch which this doesn’t have.

    • +3

Well, you would hope so, being part of their - overpriced - ecosystem.

      • If they are overpriced, what does it make these lol?

        • +1

These are a single product, not an ecosystem.

        • OK, I'll bite. :) Yes I agree with you, the Sennheisers to me are overpriced, but I was commenting on the Airpods. Being an Apple product, they would look pretty silly if they were not the best at their own infrastruture. Talking of looking silly, I stille chuckle when I see people wearing electric toothbrush heads in their ears.

          • @omblygombly: They have FAR better reliability, faster connection, more comfortable due to vent, multiple mic setup is FAR better at picking up your voice and the DSP processes voices much better than Sennheiser. The rest is mostly subjective, as I would never spend over $400 on TWS for sound, I would get actual headphones that sound far better by default.

Appearance is part of it's functionality, the mic is literally closer to your mouth. The fact that your toothbrush is made for mice means nothing.

So yes, this is overpriced significantly, therefore your argument in this case makes zero sense, even you admitted they are overpriced.

            • @onlinepred: Wow. I just think Apple as a whole are expensive.

              • +1

@omblygombly: SE2 + airpods pro would like to talk to you.

Look I understand where you are coming from, but the airpods created a whole TWS segment we didn't have before, they are the top selling TWS/audio device, for a long time there were no alternatives at all that performed as well as a whole. $199 for the airpods was a fantastic price, considering competitors were releasing buds that were closer to $300-$400 like bose/Sony etc. Even now when you look at the RRP of all the top TWS buds, Apples pricing is VERY competitive. Apple Phones are much more expensive, except the SE2, and I understand this, but it doesn't require generalised judgement. The iPhones (except SE2) are made of steel, have 5 years of OS and security updates, have physical stores for support, carry legacy hardware for hardware issues, have a battery replacement program that's cheaper than Samsung while others don't even do it. You really do get what you pay for, now wether you can justify spending that much depends on how long you use the phone for, that's what it all comes down to.

                • @onlinepred: Well pointed out. I did not know about the 5 years support, which is excellent. Or that thet were the first to come out with this style of ear buds. Think you are lucky to get 3 years' with android. I'll give you a +1 for your effort and explanation.

  • +1

    Marginal benefit at best

  • +2

Given the fact that only right earbud can be used independently. And the price is higher than the airpod pro.
That's a big no for me. Even with the discounted price. This is still way too expensive. Not worth buying.

  • "These are the best I have used so far. They are so cheap compared to the quality they provide. I mean there are some that cost between 1-2k but have similar quality" Ozbargain is full of sales shitheads who make comments like this. You can neg my comment but that does not change the truth.
