Have you ever had that moment when you are in the middle of a conversation and suddenly the room becomes quiet and nobody knows how to move the discussion forward? Of course you do. Haven’t we all? It’s for this reason that I decided to write this book.
What better way to break that silence than to throw out some of these facts:

Wolves have a serious appetite! They can eat up to twenty pounds of meat in one sitting!

The first high heeled shoes were worn by Egyptian butchers to help them walk above the bloodied bodies of animal carcasses.

The vintage date on a bottle of wine indicates the year the grapes were harvested, not the year of bottling

Your mouth produces about one liter of saliva each day.

Greece has more archaeological museums than any other country in the world.

Whatever your motivation may be, there’s a really good chance you’ll find these facts and tidbits useful. So if you’re ready, here are 1,000 random facts that everyone should know !

What better way to break that silence than to throw out some of these facts

I just keep a small notebook with a list of jv comments. I've found that asking someone about the normal price of a random product can result in a lively conversation.

    • Most wise comment I've read all day. Well, OK, the ONLY wise comment I've read all day.

    Thanks OP!

I should've known ozbargain earlier in my life

Even at free I feel a bit ripped off because now I already know 5 of the facts. Talk about ruining a good read.

  • Got some examples of the facts ?

  • +2

    The title is a contradiction.

If the fact is "random", it can't by definition be something everyone should know.

  • +1

Could it be Random facts in that the facts themselves are not linked or grouped in any way?

  • +2

    Thanks OP. Random purchase.

"The first high heeled shoes were worn by Egyptian butchers to help them walk above the bloodied bodies of animal carcasses."

    • I seriously doubt these qualified as 'high heel' shoes (where the toe is much lower than the raised heel). It would be too impractical working in an abattoir. Elevator shoes is far more likely.

    • They should have gone to 1001: "Rate of death from Covid-19 is 0.1 to 0.3%. The same as seasonal flu."

  • Pretty sure my brain has well over 1,000 random (useless) facts. Most people can't tell if I'm being serious.

This will only expand my useless knowledge and I'm all for it!

  • I find I’m always getting tripped up by the US store as the main link in these deals. Do more people use the US or the AU stores?

Thanks OP, I know for a fact that I won't get time to read this.

  • Understanding my job - meh

1000 new useless facts - yeh!

  • never mind found the AU link…

  • Wolves have a serious appetite! They can eat up to twenty pounds of meat in one sitting!

    How do they know?
Is it a hungry starving wolf or the one that has already eaten "twenty pounds" for breakfast?

The first high heeled shoes were worn by Egyptian butchers to help them walk above the bloodied bodies of animal carcasses.

How about the tip of the heeled shoe drowning in "fluids".
Wouldn't be smarter some kind of Danish clogs? Whole foot up, above the "fluids", nice and dry, steady and solid?

    Random facts or questionable answers?
