If anyone needs to feel miserable, you can try getting this price matched in Bunnings for a further 10% of $299.

    • I'm ecstatic with my Ozito brushless 36V chainsaw combo kit for $120 from Bunnings :)

I actually looked at the Ozito 18V quite closely before going for the DeWalt but rejected it due to concerns about build quality and overall longevity. I can't comment on the 36V version.

I'm not knocking Ozito, I use their tools as well and value their warranty but the only tool I've had fail for no good reason is an Ozito SDS drill. Of course there was no issue getting a new one via Bunnings but even so.

Basically I use DeWalt for tough stuff and Ozito/Aldi/Ryobi for home stuff or less frequently used tools.

        • I don't have any Ozito drills so can't comment. But I do have their garden gear such as brushless steel deck lawnmower, jet blower, chainsaw, pruning saw and I can't fault them. I use all regularly except for the chainsaw.

I have read the 18V chainsaw is not very good but the 36V is. I have used a couple of times and it has not disappointed.

      • You have a link to that ?

    • does bunnings sell this pack??

      • The kit was on clearance about 2 months ago so probably all gone by now. I only see the skin nowadays at Bunnings.

Shouldn’t be able to price match as they are different products - one is a skin only and the other is a pack with different product codes.

However they might have this promo pack in store, but it will likely be at the same promo price.

These work really well. On a recent job my regular chainsaw died so had to use one of these solidly for about 3hrs.

It ate through six 4Ah batteries in that time but was doing some serious cutting throughout and never once stalled or even got particularly warm. Adjustment is easy too.

    Impressed.

I got mine from Bunnings around Xmas with a 4Ah battery via redemption but no charger for $294 from memory. They actually ran out of 4Ah batteries so sent me a 5Ah instead. No charger but I have several anyway from previous deals.

  • I bought one of these (skin only) a few months back - it's been great at getting rid of some old trees in my backyard.

I'd never used a chainsaw before, so it was a learning experience. Be careful cutting close to the ground- I managed to blunt the chain by getting sand on it. I managed to find a couple of replacement chains for $12 each on ebay (cheaper than buying a sharpener).

  • First the hedge trimmer now this. Something up with Dewalt?
Might have to think about what tools I really want incase they are next to get a big discount on a kit :P

  • This or a recip saw to cut tree branches ranging from 2-5 inches thick?

    • +4

Reciprocating saws actually work very well, just buy the right blades for the job. No chainbar oil needed etc

I have a couple of cheapies and both do the job fine - an Aldi and Ozito version. I'd rank the Aldi slightly higher as there's less play at the blade but both do the same job. Who knows which will last longest but neither seem stressed even when pruning that kind of size.

    • I use the Ozito pruning saw for up to 3 inches. Great little tool. It's like a mini recip saw with a clamp that holds the branch while cutting. You can detach the clamp and use as recip saw for 5 inches.

Also if you checkout tonight at Sydney Tools it has $50 worth of credit added to your account apparently for future purchases.

This line trimmer kit is also on special at $249 including a charger and 5Ah battery. Add an extra small purchase to take you over the $250 threshold and you get $50 of points credit to spend within 30 days.

Effectively $199 so long as you have a use for those points. A non-issue for me e.g. consumables, drill bits etc.

Bargain. I just collected mine and the points statement confirming the deal.

The included battery normally retails at about $149 on its own.
