      Your NBN can't deliver 100Mbps speed. Only a maximum of 45Mbps speed. Don't expect a free infrastructure upgrade in the near future.

  • Good deal
    Thanks

    If used to be with SL but have not had an nbn™ service with any other provider since March 1, 2020
    Is it qualified?
    And is it must full fill all requirement or one of them ?
    Have a member of the household receiving the JobSeeker Payment or Family Tax Benefit Part A or Part B;
    Have a school-age child living at your address;
    By other provider showing like this deal it is free for low-income households for free.https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/531553

  • Would someone need to come into my house to set it up?
    I haven’t had nbn before.

    • That depends on what NBN technology your home is. If it's HFC, then yes someone will need to come into the house and install a cable and wallplate. If it's FTTN or FTTC, then usually no in-home visit required. What's your address say for technology type on www.nbn.com.au ?

      • It says
        Planned technology
        nbn™ Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC)*

        Unfortunately that would mean we can’t get it as someone would need to come in but also looks like it’s not rolled out yet.
        If they could do adsl2 for free I could use that as we have an old adsl modem still.

        • They don't do ADSL, and there is no ADSL subsidy available to retailers anyway.

  • Hi OP I am eligible for Jobkeeper rather than jobseeker. Would I be eligible for this offer? Thanks

    • if you meet all the other requirements yes

      • my house is HFC, do i need to pay for the technician to come for installation ?

  • Hi OP I am eligible for jobkeeper payment but do not have any school aged children. Am I eligible for the Promotion? Thanks

    Dealing with Superloop support now as Nbn speed is very slow. I am sure it probably is outside their control (I.e. nbn co issue), but the run about received and red tape and the amount of proof required is nothing short of crazy. 0.05mbps on 50mbps plan, absurd. Bring on 5G I say. What a heck was government thinking with nbn, but someone must have got rich from this little project.

      What a heck was government thinking with nbn

      The government that originally wanted to build the NBN was going to build FTTP to every house which would have been better than 5G

      Then we elected another government who went for a multiple technology mix leaving most people with poor connections (and in some cases worse connections than before the NBN)

      • Except that fibre to house would have cost the original government about 150 billion or 5 times the original cost estimate (30b). 30b project cost was used to sell it to tax payers in Australia fully knowing that it was a dream.
        We ended up with a crap solution for 70b and the money still pouring out. So who's fault is it?

        • +3

          Easy to say the libs

        • where did you get that 150bn number? To give you perspective, here was the old article posted before the change of government where Libs claimed they would deliver NBN faster and cheaper (and a bit slower) and guess what, it sh*t on all 3 promises and now cleverly inflating the 'would be number' by labor to justify the cost blowout. If Abbott/Turnbull took a decade to define the new word for ADSL and put it in the macquarie dictionary for 70bn, i'd rather pay double for something else.

  • I signed up. Would be good to know how fast the order will be processed and the NBN box posted.

    • you should get SMS updates.
      orders for premises that are 'on-net' nbn usually take between 5 minutes and 4 hours to process.
      orders that require an appointment, we just need to wait for the next appointment slot and this can be a week or so.

      • Thank you for your reply.
        I placed my order about 2 am on Saturday, however still haven't received any update. We have FTTC.
        When I previously enquired with ABB and another company they said that we qualify for self installation and no appointment needed.
        Wouldn't it be the same with Superloop?

  • Yesterday when i checked my address it was available. Today when i checked it says unavailable to my house. Has the deal ended?

    • Just got through to Superloop via phone and address had to be entered a certain way. Sign up complete.

      For anyone else having this issue you may need to change how you enter your address eg "Unit 1, 123 Smith st…" instead of "1/123 Smith st…"

  • Hey @warsome,

    How are you verifying the following eligibility criteria:
    1) Have a member of the household receiving the JobSeeker Payment or Family Tax Benefit Part A or Part B;
    2) Have a school-age child living at your address;

    Do we need to upload documentation from myGov somewhere during the sign up process?

    • They didn't ask for those but if you got active nbn service at the property before then they'll require you to provide proof of occupancy

  • They are going to let me self install.
    However the nbn box will connect to the cable point in the house. I already have cable Foxtel plugged into the port.
    Has anyone had this problem before?

  • I guess there is no phone service its only Data? We've never connected to FTN yet. I have an activate in contact service land line that i wish to keep in my name and hope its not disconnected when the order is placed in the wifes name?. i have a 5 pair lead in and use to have a second land line for the fax that i disconnected a few years ago. Can wife sign up as she has a health care card and gets Family tax and will they use the old disconnected land line? Will there be any connection fees?

  • my nbn hfc box is missing, the previous tenants stole it and the agent is unable to recover it. do I still select that im a new connection? do I need to contact Superloop as a followup after I've made my order?

  • how does it check if your eligible?

    • They only check if you have had NBN in the past using the NBN Co. database.
      They don't seem to care about the rest of the criteria. Listing them as eligibility criteria but not really checking is rather silly.

      • Response from Superloop Rep from Whirlpool…..

        “Validation will prove it incorrect and you will be back charged. We can initially tell a churn and stop the order. The scenario of someone disconnecting for a bit and then reconnecting will get through initially, however NBN will let us know and we will back charge you the full amount and either disconnect you or keep charging you if you decide to keep the paid service.”

        • +1

          Err… That is what I said. They only check if your premises was previously connected to NBN under your name / occupancy.
          They don't check nor care about the following two criteria:

          • Have a member of the household receiving the JobSeeker Payment or Family Tax Benefit Part A or Part B
          • Have a school-age child living at your address

          • @DoctorCalculon: They don’t care, but what I’m saying is customer will get a back charge eventually.

            • @TomGum: "Validation will prove it incorrect and you will be back charged" <— True as NBN Co will be able to inform Superloop if the customer had a past NBN connection at the premises which they had disconnected from to take up this free offer.

              They obviously aren't setup to check or confirm your taxation status or JobSeeker status, nor check whether you have children living at your premises. So, these criteria aren't really enforceable.

              customer will get a back charge eventually.

              Only if you breach the first criteria (i.e. have already had a NBN connection before).

  • just got email saying the free offer will be extended until mid jan, sweet!

  • I have also received an email saying that the $0 NBN Online Learning Plan (i.e. this offer) has been extended until 15 January 2021.
    I assume the same conditions apply for new signups?
