Samsung 40 Inch Smart TV (UA40D6600) - $1410 with 5 Year JB Hi-Fi Warranty

110

Yesterday got a brand new 40 inch Samsung Smart TV (UA40D6600) for $1410 with 5 years JBHIFI extended warranty.
$1161 (TV) + $249 (extended warranty). Probably they gave me @ this price because of extended warranty. I was price matching an online offer of the TV($1250). Attached is my invoice. This is my first post :)

  • UA46D6600 can be had at $1599 this was price I saw at COSTCO if there one new you check out most retailers had same model at $2000 plus and wouldn't even price match COSTCO I went to local SUMSUNG STORE and picked up UA46D6600 for $1690 got three pair glasses and megamind 3D bluray. Very happy with tv shopped around for two weeks tv 2011 I think may/ June model.

    • Local Samsung store?

I didn't know they had their own outlets?

I've seen one around. There's one in Burwood Shopping Centre, Sydney.

        They're pretty rare it seems.

        • I bought my TV from Burwood shopping center Samsung outlet and it went bad after 3 week they never replaced it or refunded my money instead i had to contact Samsung for warranty and it took another 2 to 3 weeks for samsung to repair it.

Oh add another $200 warranty a must with this new LED technology just in case!

Om my! You must work for one of the warranty providers. Have you ever heard of statuatory warranty?

Incidentally I notice these are 30% cheaper in the US. Must be a lot more downward scope for price movement I say.

    • The OP clearly states that he purchased the tv with a 5 year extended warranty already included in that price!

Sorry I wasn't so clear I meant I add another $200 for the extended warranty to 5 years, guess I deserve the neg. Just want to point it out because other retailers demand $250 for the extended warranty!

whats so good about smart TV?

i have seen 40" full hd samsung for about $700

    • Not sure where you have seen that price! The one OP posted is of SERIES 6 and if your seen that price might be a LCD OF LOWER series but can't be either because it wouldnt be a Smart TV.

  • Yeah I bought my tv at burwood shopping centre there's a Samsung store there, pretty much happy with price I got it for doubt can get cheaper any where even on the net without haggling. $1889.00 with 5 years warranty 3 glasses and 3D blurry if any interested and wants I'll upload reciept.

Sorry mate… think I got a better deal! Last week, Got a 40" Sony Bravia Full HD 100Hz LED 3DTV… $860 at Myer Saturday sale ($10 off per $75, reduced from their clearance price of $999). Samsung was also the same price.
    Msg if wanting a receipt

    • I got the same deal mate. But this Samsung isn't really comparable. It was $1600 at Myer, with $240 off for the 10 dollar sale, so $1360. $50 cheaper I suppose.
This is the 6600, you might be thinking of the 6000, and even that was dearer than the Sony.

    • So far, the tv's great.

Just a word of warning - although it's a 3d TV, you'll have to dish out an extra $60-100 for a pair of glasses. Oh, and Wifi Ready doesn't mean it's got wifi, it needs either a HDMI connection to something with internet connection, or you need to buy a $60-100 wifi USB

Try getting them to include that - that's probably your best bet for a bargain (I spent around $920 or 930 including the glasses, don't remember)

    • Sorry im new to ozbargain, seems i was unable to message you. Could you please upload your receipt i would really like to purchase this tv.

  • yeah Vicsta I saw that Sony at JB today. I think they had it marked at $950 crossed out with 'ask us for a deal!' sounds very cheap for a full hd 3d SONY led..

  • WOW very nice, i want that same tv!

  • hmmmm, I think this is the same TV my kids got me for fathers day, ill check the receipt when i get home…..currently sitting in a hotel so wont be home until 12ish, but they paid $1050 for it from JB. If it is the same ill upload the receipt to help people save more :)

All I remember is its 40" smart tv, with media hub and its got some fast refresh rate the lower models don't so it might be this one, it came with a pair of 3d glasses inside as well

    • Checked my receipt, i got the 6000 model for $1097 with free 3D glasses

  • Yeah, if you really want a warranty i guess its a good deal… i paid $1100 for this Tv, and Apple TV and the samsung thin wallmount pickup at the Moore Park Supacentre JB Hifi about 3 weeks ago… ill see if i cant find the receipt

If it's so smart then why can't it produce an image that beats a CRT for quality?

  • might be a close match with a CRT for contrast accuracy but show me a 55" CRT with 1080p sharp resolution, vibrant colors with power consumption under 1400Megawatts and I'll be amazed CRT is dead.

In the US you can get the 55" for the same price US$1399 http://www.frys.com/product/6588343

Shows you where prices are headed… c'mon mr Kogan please start parallel importing these babies and I'll be 1st in the door to buy one.

As long as there are CRTs in existance, CRT will never be dead. Sometimes, though, the better technology has to die to make way for the cheaper technology. Vinyl made way for cassettes and CDs. Beta made way for VHS. Just as CRT makes way for flat panels.
