    That’s expensive.

  • No deal…

$100 for 50 masks? Lol. Way too expensive

$60 delivered here from Kogan, even that’s expensive.

    No bargain listed

  • Does costco have any popcorn?

  • +3

    Absolutely f*&$ing bul$&it.

    • Thanks this looks half decent!

    • The filtration efficiency is 94%

the Costco one is BFE >99% so only rated as 99

      link: https://blogs.cdc.gov/niosh-science-blog/2009/10/14/n95/

How do surgical mask and respirator filters perform?
Respirator filters that collect at least 95% of the challenge aerosol are given a 95 rating. Those that collect at least 99% receive a “99” rating. And those that collect at least 99.97% (essentially 100%) receive a “100” rating. Respirator filters are rated as N, R, or P for their level of protection against oil aerosols. This rating is important in industry because some industrial oils can remove electrostatic charges from the filter media, thereby degrading (reducing) the filter efficiency performance. Respirators are rated “N” if they are not resistant to oil, “R” if somewhat resistant to oil, and “P” if strongly resistant (oil proof). Thus, there are nine types of particulate respirator filters:

      N95, N-99, and N-100
      R-95, R-99, and R-100
      P-95, P-99, and P-100

You cant compare a 94 rating with 99 rating expect to be same price or cheaper, of course you can change the box but that wont help the fact…

quite a few CE EU and FDA USA approved ones for way less. TGA approved isn't much different.

These masks apparently meet AS codes.

    Do the others?

    • Question. Does AS = As$hole Seller?

      • +1

I don't see any point for your reply.

Realistically, masks may look the same but can be very different. These ones apparently meet AS codes, so they can be used in theatre, which means they have adequate tested filtration and adequate fluid resistance. Those random cheap masks may not have either filtration or fluid resistance.

Of course it's no N95, but it's no random 3ply mask. It will still have leakage around the sides and you will still need to fit it properly.

Hell, even among masks with the same ASTM level there are differences. The orange or teddy bear ASTM 3 Halyard masks are the best IMO. The crappy green ones with the sticky nose part suuuuuuuuuck.

$2 each for a basic surgical level mask? ROFL.

Sadly I imagine Costco are going to still sell these well. A lot of their business is from people who just assume they are cheapest because of the volume.

  • +1

great to see Costco is price gouging

  • +1

    Horrible

  • According to specs these are ASTM level 3 so not at all comparable to Kogan
expensive compared to medical suppliers but much higher quality than the others

  • +1

    Wow RIP!

  • +1

    Shameful behaviour by Costco.

Cheaper out our local chemist and only need to buy 10 at a time to get the cheaper price.

    • are they australian standards?
      what is their bfe?
      delta p?
      filtration pressure resistance?

      • Ask the pharmacist…

        • go for it!
clearly if you dont know you dont need a mask

          • @aussman:

clearly if you dont know you dont need a mask

            lol

  • The medical grade mask are extremely hard to get at the moment, this is over priced compared to 3-4 months ago, but based on the current situation it’s not a bad deal. However, general public doesn’t need to use the medical grade mask.

    • agreed people who dont know the difference between these masks, chemist warehouse masks, and kogan dont really need masks anyway

    • Teddy bear Halyard masks for the win

      • Yep they are good but I prefer the halyard with a visor and not the silly ear elastics manual ties around your head

        • I'm not a fan of the visor. I always rip it off if thats the only one available.

Could be legit but still overpriced.
