Samsung LC27F390FHEXXY 27inch Curved FHD Monitor - $224.55 @ Samsung Education Store

280

Seems like a half decent deal for a "work from home" monitor if you have access, these monitors are out of stock everywhere at the moment and priced at around $299 so I picked one up. Unusure on specs for gaming purposes but this should be ok for work.

Add $25.45 extra to your cart and apply $50 coupon code to bring it down further

For example, I added the monitor + phone cover, the monitor came down to $180

I've got a Dell P2719H 1080P (1920x1080) business monitor and while it is nice and big, the resolution from a pixel density perspective (and thus sharpness) is ordinary.

Next time I would only get 4K monitor at 27"

QHD at 27" is perfectly fine. You can use it at native res. You wouldn't want to use native res with 4K

Yeah QHD would be an improvement and probably hits the right balance between price-point and picture sharpness.

I've got a dual-screen setup with MacBook Pro 13" inbuilt retina screen at 2560 x 1600, and the Dell 27" screen only at 1920 x 1080. If I didn't no any better, I'd probably be ok with the 27" at 1080p. But it really does look ordinary in comparison - and the lack of sharpness is definitely evident in boring business apps that pack lots of widgets and so forth on the screen.

        • Seems like comparing Mommas home made spaghetti sauce to Dolmio though. Wasnt Retina display known for being the best screen in its day?

I run a 27 in 1080, its fine. Not that I game much. I would like a 1440, but meh, still too exxy when this works.

4k is too high even for 27", the sweet spot for 27" is 1440p

Sweet spot for 4k is 32"

      • +2

Sweet spot for 4k is 32"

I use a 4K 32" and it's barely OK without scaling although I am past 40 so my eyes aren't what they were.

I also use a 55" 4K at about the same distance (two arm lengths) and it's probably to large for 4K.

agreed with others on 2k on 27" is the sweet spot.
4k is too much and FHD is just horrible on 27"

    • i had the P2719HC for a week and returned it for the AOC U2790QPU. Lost the USBC feature i desperately wanted, but for around the same price i got a much better resolution and Colour Gamut. IF there was a QHD around the same specs and pricing i'd probably would've gone for that instead.

    • 60Hz, FHD with VA is kinda worst nowadays, but good price though

    • Cheers for that! Wouldn't pay this price at retail.

  • How did u get for $180

  • Does it take long to get the $50 code to your email? I just registered today

    • Got mine in about 20 minutes or less

      • did you get coupon into your education email or private email?

        • Mine is Aus Gov store rather than Edu store, but I put in my personal email when it asked for an email address and it was sent there.

    • Did in the morning, haven't received it yet

  • Or you can get 2 x 32 inches for $398 delivered after the $50 discount.

Note: the Resolution for the 32inches is FHD so it is not that ideal

    • Hey mate,
Could you please let me know how can we get two 32 inch monitors for $398?

      • I believe its from using 2x $50 vouchers to get to that pricing.

  • Same price in the Aus Gov EPP in case others are interested.

  • How can I get the $50 coupon?

It will depend on how close you sit to the monitor, but 1080p at 27" isn't enough in my opinion. The whole point of going with a bigger monitor to get (1) more screen real estate, or (2) to make things bigger (i.e. you have to sit further away).

Unless you just want things to be bigger, I'd say 1080p is good for 23-24", and 1440p is good for 27-32". I've also used 4K, and there's no doubt that the picture is sharper, but is it worth the hassle to muck around with scaling? Probably not.

  • Also available in the Government portal for the same price or the CF391 32" for $296
