Reviews are a little divided with the Metacritic scores being 75 and 5.9 respectively.
Anyone who's played the game, can you provide any insight into the quality?

I think it's a decent game, quite faithful to the original game. It has a few added features and complexities (more characters, player stats, level up points, etc), but if you enjoyed the original (and presumably were a teenager in the 90s), you will probably enjoy this game.
Worth it for nostalgia purposes, but otherwise I wouldn't recommend it.
