$10 or $5 off Eligible Items (Min Spend $5) @ eBay via App

920
DREAM10DREAM5

I saw this offer in my inbox, from comments below I believe its targeted. Click on Deal link for full T&C's

This deal is great for those small one off purchases like cables. I haven't used the app for over 12 months (use computer instead) so they might be running a campaign to target those ebay users as its a fairly generic coupon code running for quite a while.

Offer Period. This offer commences at 10:00 (AEST) on 13 April 2020 and is available until 23:59 (AEST) on 12 May 2020 (“Offer Period”). eBay reserves the right to cancel the offer at any time.

Conditions. The offer entitles eligible customers to $10 off the purchase price (excluding postage costs) on all items listed on the ‘eBay App’ except the ‘Excluded Items’ when you spend $5 or more. A maximum of 1 transaction applies. Multiple items may be purchased in one transaction (up to a maximum of 10 items per transaction). All monetary amounts specified in these terms and conditions are in Australian dollars (AUD).

'eBay App' means; purchases made via the eBay app in the following operating systems:
iOS (iPhone and iPad)
Android

'Excluded Items' means; all items listed in the following categories;

Cars, Bikes, Boats (9800), Coins (11116), Gift Cards (184609), Other Lots More Items (88433), Real Estate (10542), Services (316), Tickets, Travel (11730); and all items from the below sellers;
    Coles Supermarkets
    Fantastic Furniture
    Lenovo
    Officeworks
    Target
    Myer

Redemption. To redeem this offer during the Offer Period, enter the redemption code DREAM10 into the redemption code box during the checkout process. This code cannot be used in conjunction with any other eBay offer, coupon or voucher. You may use the redemption code once during the Offer Period. The code is provided to you as an eBay User and the limitations on its usage apply on that basis even though you may have registered a number of different eBay User IDs.

I think the eBay app is one of the premier ways that eBay ties multiple accounts together.
When you use the eBay app on your phone you leak a myriad of identifying data that does not occur with a standard browser.
That is why I suspect they are so keen to constantly offer little discounts with the app.

    Primary five Android Identifiers are:

    1. Telephone Number

    2. Device ID/Serial Number
Devices without SIMs like tablets must report a unique device ID that is available via android.os.Build.

    3. AndroidID: 3 parts
      (A) Set at the first boot (does not survive a factory-reset)
      (B) Google Services Framework (GSF), often referenced as "GSF ID". Behaves basically like AndroidID (doesn't survive a factory-reset), and co-exists with it.
      (C) GAID (Google Advertising ID) can be reset via the Google Settings app.

    4. UUID Instalation ID
As the requirement for most of applications is to identify a particular installation and not a physical device, a good solution to get unique id for an user if to use UUID class.

    5. MAC address from WiFi

So if you have multiple accounts, eBay can fairly easily link your accounts with this info

does it work in an emulator? then fake your gps and use a vpn.

      • Emulator + VPN or newly refreshed 4G

        • So I guess having exact same name, address and linked paypal account is not a premier way for ebay to identify and tie multiple accounts together because I occasionally get deals like this got DREAM5 to one of my accounts today.

    • +1

Fun fact - this is the same way Facebook, and other social media platforms, are able to profile people who don't even have an account.

Other apps and websites you use sometimes share info with Facebook and they can use these unique identifiers to start collecting data on you.

    • Yes your right. Once we changed internet provider I created a new account then finally got a $5 voucher.

Why is it I've never gotten any of these Targeted ebay deals?

Probably because I've been an ebay user for a very long time, only have one account and purchase things fairly regularly…

    • my oldest account never received a single discount from ebay. my non activate accounts that have not had a single purchase get them nearly every month.

Zero, zip, Nada, Nothing…. grrr ePay!
Thank you OP for the post :)

Yeah nah. eBay isn't my go-to anymore.
Was looking for a specific item. Saw it's listed on Amazon for $59. Decided to check price everywhere first before purchasing. Noticed eBay has an exact same one at $69 and a 15% off code. Price jacking is #1 reason I stopped shopping at eBay.

Plus, buying from Amazon I get faster delivery, better packaging.

    i got a 5$ one
what you think I should buy?

  • I received a $10 coupon and bought a $9 stuff. End of paying $0.

  • Received email for $5 off with PASTA5.

  • $5 off when you spend a minimum of $5

  • +1

I received the DREAM5 offer via SMS not email today. When I try to use it in the app on my phone that I received the SMS to… invalid code. It's not listed as a code in my vouchers summary.

    • same here

      • +2

I got on live chat this morning. The conclusion was "I understand that you already applied the code through the app and still the system won't accept it. I will make a report first and forward it to our marketing team so we can further investigate this issue. Please try to apply the code after 48 hours for we will be investigating it first and fix this technical issue on the voucher code. We sincerely apologise for this matter but rest assured that we will look into this and fix this one. So kindly try to apply it after 48 hours and give us a little time to fix it."

        • Can you use the code now? Still not coming up for me.

          • @DamonT: I had to start up a chat as well. It seems it's a common issue they're aware of.

  • Found out I had dream10 this morning, used it all worked fine thanks very much.
