Meet the 2nd generation Nest Mini, the speaker you control with your voice. Just say "Hey Google" to play your favourite music from Spotify, YouTube Music, and more.[2] It sounds bigger and richer with more power and more bass. Ask your Google Assistant for help, and get the best of Google – weather, news, or almost anything. Hear your personalised schedule, commute, and reminders.[4] Set timers and alarms. And even turn on the lights.[5] Nest Mini is compatible with more than a thousand smart devices, like lights, thermostats, and smart plugs, from brands you love. It blends right into any room – on a coffee table, nightstand, or wall.

We got 2 of these for free from having Google accounts
How ?
Edit: I was incorrect, Google One gave some users a Home Mini (previous generation). The free Nest Mini's was given away to Youtube Premium users 3 months ago
I got a free one from having a Google Music subscription
ive got 2 from that promo as well though i havent opened it because ive already got 5 around the house so they are just sitting here in boxes waiting to be gifted to deserving friends and family haha….are they really that noticeably better? maybe i should open them
Open one to compare, but going on reviews the sound is a bit of "give and take", not mch differen. The mic is supposed to be a fair bit better though.
The sound has much more low-end and fills a room way better than the first-gen. Note the second-gen don't run off micro-USB (too much power needed for the improved sound?) if that's an issue for how/where you want to put one.
Also, Google Nest Mini + Mirabella Genio Wi-Fi Plug Bundle (Chalk) - $59

We got 2 of these for free from having Google accounts, we had 2 of the original minis. The nest mini is so much better. It's actually a decent speaker now. Hardly use our much pricier other speaker and music options because the Nest minis sound good enough and are just so convenient.
