Any word on adding Google assistant support? I believe currently it's only Alexa.

    • +1

i dont know about official assistant support, but i just got it hooked in via the google home app and managed to turn it on through one of the home speakers

  • Is this a clone of the Xiaomi machines, or is the strong resemblance just a coincidence?

  • Anyone who has owned the first generation mi robot vacuum and the s7 who can share their view?

First roborock vacuum was (and is) great for the $300 odd dollars they cost. But they’ll try and run over things unless you put magnetic tape down.

This one, for $570 allows setting no go areas (so it doesn’t try beach itself on couch legs, nor try and eat the extension cable that runs to my desk), it’ll split your floor plan into rooms, so you can tell it to go clean your kitchen. Also multiple maps so you can carry it upstairs.

Mind, as always, you’ll have to sweep up corners every so often yourself. But it’s a good unit in my opinion. They’ve done a lot of software work lately.

      It’s good bang for buck.

Nice deal - any opportunity to please promote Xiaomi Mi (Gen 1)?

  • Any deal on the S6? I have Yeelights and don't want to own a million apps. Also, no Google Home is an issue.

  • +4

So - my gen1 xiaomi busted recently.

    360 s7 verdict:
After you set up your house (painful to split and join areas to become rooms….) room cleaning is great.
However - its still stupid. the "longest side first" algorithm would generate less turns - but it doesn't follow this often.

The clean my house is completely 'room unaware' and does stupid things - its like it cant figure out the current job is most like a house plan its seen before, and then is stupid.

I have a carpet hallway - making the mop useless. It cant leave the mop somewhere, and will always drag it, and things get wet, even if you say do not mop this area.

The schedule in the app is not very intuitive. repeat isnt how many time to clean a room, its what day do you want to repeat the clean

Map editor in the app is horrible. renameing overlapping rooms requires a remote refresh…. makes it super hard to set up.

PiHole DNS interferes with the App and the robot and the joining process

    • Would you have upgraded if your Gen1 was still alive now that you know all this?

      • +1

FOR ME: I would keep the old slow gen 1.

you can get parts for it - like a battery for $55-65 which will probably make it work better.

my gen 1 ran every day for about 3h (2 charges) over 28months.

        it paid for itself.

the way i am using the s7 makes it seem like a beefy gen1 with electronic zoning (no more mag strips) (cos i cant mop easily)

        • Decided to keep the Gen1 and hold off on upgrading based on your input. Thanks!

    • I really like this vac, but I agree with some of the points above. The app needs some work.

      Mostly:

      • The block-off function in the app is weird and unreliable (blocked off zones disappear etc)
      • Joining/splitting rooms is unreliable

And same problem with the "longest side first" thing - so it sweeps the hallway left to right down its length, which is just inefficient.

I'd still buy it again though.

      • i just got this and its my second day into it and agree with the above. It does a good job though at not beaching itself on the rugs laying around the 2nd floor and smart enough not to roll down the stairs. I have set a no go zone there just in case which hasnt decided to disappear yet.

Setting up the connection was also a pain as im on google mesh that normally runs at 5ghz and it needs a 2.4 connection.

Unable to comment on the mopping side of things as i havent connected the mop function yet but from early impressions i am quite happy with it as my first robovac. I have two stick dysons at home that can finally be used as the spot cleaners they were designed to be.

so it sweeps the hallway left to right down its length, which is just inefficient.

I've always had the same issue with it sweeping left to right down the hallway, inefficiently covering 1 metre at a time then doing a 180.
I was looking at my map today, thought about your comment, and realised it's going in the same direction in every room, not just the hallway.
So I tried an experiment and rotated the map. Lo and behold it doesn't actually vacuum the room from left to right per se, but rather it vacuums the map from left to right.

Obviously it should be smart enough to figure it out on it's own, but if it annoys you then the workaround is to rotate your map so your hallway runs left-right on your screen, not up-down.

        • That makes sense - i'll give that a go (although you'd think it would be fairly simple to calculate total time, even by just counting the number of turns required to complete the job). Since our house is a long rectangle, it works better in the app to have the map in the same orientation as the screen.

I have alot of issues with the app being laggy and timing out, their servers are in china and i get alot of packet loss to q.smart.360.cn which seems to be the main address it talks to, have been back and forth with 360 support directly and they keep saying they have put a new server in but nothing changes with the location or routing to the sever.

  • App has been removed from the Play Store, and I now receive a warning that the app is unsafe.
    Gearbite, please explain?

    • Same for me! Waiting for gearbite to reply

      • The vacuum can't be used until the app is back on the Play Store. Down-voting because this vacuum is seriously gimped without the app.

I think I'll have to send mine back under the satisfaction gaurentee.

        • If you have any Apple products it's still on the Apple app store. Strange that only Google has removed them.
