As reported -

Mama & Papas Parramatta are giving away FREE PIZZAS this week to anyone. One(1) free pizza per person. Friday & Saturday 10th & 11th April & Friday & Saturday 17-18 April, 6pm-9pm.
Our business and thousands like ours, was forced to temporarily close last week due to the Covid-19 government restrictions, and a lot of people have either lost their jobs or have had their incomes reduced dramatically.
Now is the time to help each other. Give where you can and support anyone that is in need during these tough times.
We want to kick start this kind gesture and we invite more restaurants and businesses around Australia to do the same.
Mama & Papas has been privileged with huge support from our community over the past few years , and now is our turn to give back a bit. We can’t fix the world problems but a simple act of kindness will help each other get through these tough times. The government is trying to help , we should all help too.
One(1) Free regular size pizza is available to anyone. Pick one up for yourself or you are welcome to come pick one up for an elderly person, a neighbor or even any friend in need. No conditions other than the limit of only one regular size pizza can be picked up per person. No extra purchases available as we are not open for normal business. We are just giving away one whole free regular pizza per person.
“Grab & Go” TAKE AWAY ONLY.
No bookings, no pre-orders, no deliveries, no dine ins, no extras, it’s pick up only. Friday & Saturday 10th & 11th April & Friday & Saturday 17-18 April, 6pm-9pm. Pizzas available will only be BBQ meat lovers, vegetarian , Hawaiian and margarita pizzas only. Gluten free pizza base and vegan cheese available if requested but some delays might be expected.

    Awesome initiative
It is so refreshing to see this pandemic bringing out the best in people

What a nice gesture. This world needs more kindness like this.

  • Hm might actually make use of this. If it’s good pizza we’ll keep buying which I suppose is the point

    • It's okay pizza. It's oven, not woodfire. The Sicilian (almost across the road) is better.

Quite close to where I rent when I'm not at home - I'll remember this kind gesture after the lockdown/crisis is over.
Can't grab one now, but for sure when I'm back down there in a couple of months I might.

I can't believe I'm about to say something negative about free pizza, but…. Gatherings of people spread the virus. FREE PIZZA - PICKUP ONLY will create a gathering of people.

^ this. Great initiative, but I really hope this does not cause an unintended crowd.

That's true, they did say that social distancing rules apply (in the post) so hopefully people who attend will have enough sense to stand ~1.5 m away from each other.

      • -1

Standing 1.5m apart DOES NOT make you immune from a virus. It merely improves your chances of survival. You're less likely to get it.

You'll only stay protected from it if you stay home and DON'T stand in a 1.5m-apart queue for free pizza. That's the problem I'm trying to point out.

Also, humans are imperfect. Mistakes happen. You'll also be among people who don't observe social distancing. I like free pizza too.

You're preaching to the choir, I never said "social distancing makes people immune to the virus".

My point is that we both know people WILL attend this giveaway and that chances of getting infected/spreading the virus will decrease if they maintain social distancing. But who knows, coughs and sneezes can result in droplets travelling at least 6-8 meters so that decreases the efficacy of social distancing especially if people don't cough into their elbow or a tissue (which should be disposed of immediately after sneezing and not placed in their pocket or whatever).

  • Feel sorry for Mama & Papa's in Baulkham Hills, as they haven't been open that long, only a couple of months, now this. But I really hate the happy birthday song they tend to play almost every night at about 9pm. So loud and unnecessary, and without consideration to those that live in the area. For this reason alone I have never bought from them.

Now is the time to fully support them!!

  • +1

Wow, how extremely kind and generous! If they had a pay-what-you-want thing going on I'd pay them at least something for doing this sort of thing.

Quite a bad review at parra store..

  • -1

Hopefully they back down on this offer. Instruction is to stay at home, and head outside ONLY if absolutely necessary. Going to line up at a pizza shop to get free pizza is not essential.

    • There's one on every thread.

      • Clearly not a true OzBargainer.

This hot take is bad, and you should feel sad.

  • Isn't it Easter this coming weekend?

Imagine going for FREE pizza, and then getting hit with a fine (double demerits weekend)

    • That’s only if you get caught for doing the wrong thing as a driver though e.g. double parking your car for free pizza
