  • any bonus data?

  • Can you use this to recharge for a year?

    • of course you'd have to port out and then in again, but yes.

      • Does that mean you need a new number?

        • No. Get a catch Sim or something, they use Optus. Port back in after 30 days or more.

        • No, you would port out your current mobile number then port it back to boost.

        • short answer no, and you get to keep your existing number.

      • +3

But Boost also has 'recharge' vouchers for sale (for $135) frequently.. right?

        • Where is this obtained? Haven't seen it would like to know

      • +2

        Too much hassle

  • +8

Wouldn't hurt them to offer the bonus again, particularly given most people will be only using WiFi over the coming weeks (or months).

    • While it is not there officially, Telstra are likely to continue with the 10GB free each month for the next few months.

      • +4

I tried to apply it to my Boost service which has an active $150 recharge on Friday, it hasnt appeared yet. They've removed all reference to prepaid services from the free data offer, it now says its for postpaid and mobile broadband services only.

  • +1

Tried to price beat this at Officeworks on Friday and they refused. They can't even access the website from their network (internally blocked).

    • +1

I got OW to price beat over the phone two weeks ago. Might be worth calling again.

      • -1

are these eligible for Price protection on cc?

  • +4

Remember you can still apply for additional data via this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/525595.

10GB of data expires in a month

    • +1

      this didnt work for me

      • Oops you might be right, it looks like the deal actually got updated on April 1st to exclude prepaid services. You can only request for more data for post paid plans

        • i did it on the 31st, still didnt work

  • +3

I just went the other way and downgraded to Belong's $10/1GB plan. Won't be needing mobile data for 6 months by the looks…

    • +1

6 months for $15 is a pretty good deal.

  • If I am currently with Telstra do I have to port out to something else then back to boost?

    • Postpaid or prepaid?

      • I am in the same boat, I have postpaid? So I have to port out to other service first?

      • i have postpaid and looking to switch to Boost

        • +1

I was too with Tesltra postpaid before switching to Boost. You need to switch to Telstra Prepaid first and then to Boost.

    • Yes, or get a blank sim sent from Boost.

    • +1

I ported to Optus then called them up to port to Boost. It was done in 24hrs. Quicker then waiting for a SIM

  • can you use this to recharge?

    • No you cant you would have to port out then port back in.

      • So this can't be used if you're already on this prepaid plan with Boost???

        • Correct. it cannot. As spock said, you would have to port out (to another carrier) and then use this kit to port back.

          That's some work..

  • A noobie question:
If I buy one for now and keep it inactivated, how long would this sim card valid before future activation?

    • -1

Generally you have 12 or more months to activate, but YMMV.

    • +1

Doesn't it say in the first sentence?

all sim is expired on 2021 OCT

  • maybe try bigW price match and pay with egift cards?

    • I tried to pay by egift card, but didn't work

  • +1

    Poor signal in Brisbane

    • Brisbane is a big place…last time i was up there Telstra worked better then Optus & Vodafone….but that was cbd, gabba

    • +1

Really? It’s the full Telstra network and I’ve never had any problems anywhere in Brisbane.

      • I don't know why. The signal is really bad, much worse than Telstra which I used before

        • +1

Does your phone support all the bands?

  • +1

Does anyone know how frequently is the 'recharge' voucher of Boost on sale at this price? It's for the existing users to recharge their plan for another year. I remember Coles has it on sale once in a while - any other source available?

    • +3

My annual subscription expires on the 14th of this month. Have been waiting for a while for a recharge voucher bargain. Can't seem to find any so far…

  • average signal, only 3g at my house

    • +3

That's better than Top Ryde shopping centre NSW, nil signal with Boost/Telstra, but full signal with Optus

      • Optus likely has IBC (in building coverage)

    • @mitcheo

average signal, only 3g at my house

      @nanoxz

      Poor signal in Brisbane

So… at a specific location, at a specific time, using your specific equipment, you registered a poor signal?

How does this help a single reader of this forum in any way? It's not like you are giving the exact details of your time, location, etc.

And, given that the Telstra network is almost universally considered to be the best-coverage mobile network in Australia, how does your very specific poor reception experience relate to the usefulness or otherwise of this deal?

Because you may live next door to a cyclotron, or a defence radar installation, or in a gigantic Faraday cage, does not mean that this deal would not be valid for a great many people.

Your personal signal problems are of a) no interest to anyone reading this, and b) irrelevant to the deal at hand.

Instead of whining here you may be better off taking the issue up with Telstra, and asking them for assistance. You know, actually doing something about your grievous problem.

      • -2

You have been a leech for 7 years without sharing a deal??

So far the signal is worse then vodaphone and optus everywhere, especially my home.

Also so far the customer service is worse.

How does your comment help anyone? you seem like one of the people that blindly upvote and dont try to use or actually buy anything.

Btw, ill whine where i feel like it.

        • Ignore him, he's been drinking the kool-aid about boost.

If you go to the past posts about Boost you will see many people talking about low reception including myself

Having been on every low cost carrier: Kogan, Catch, Jenee, Belong, etc etc Boost is the worst by a huge margin.

          • @plmko:

Having been on every low cost carrier: Kogan, Catch, Jenee, Belong, etc etc Boost is the worst by a huge margin.

Boost uses the full Telstra network, which is the largest in Aus. One of the reasons I took the misses off Lebara was because it uses Optus and there were many areas she couldn't get any reception, and only people on Telstra could.
I am on full normal Telstra with my work, and we do receive the same issues in the same areas if there are reception problems.

    • do you have Wi-Fi at home? If you do, enable VoWiFi on your mobile phone and enjoy full coverage and voice quality throughout your home.
      https://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/telstravowifi

  • I purchased one on Wednesday evening when mentioned by browser
It was shipped via Aus Post the next day from Adelaide SA.

  • Can the data roll over?

    • You realise this voucher has 80GB of data included which expires after a year?

  • No extra 40gb?

  • Any discount on recharge?

  • Hmm just bought for next year. Hope there be extra data come then lol

  • Is it better than Kogan's yearly deal which pop's up every now and then?

    • +1

Kogan doesn’t include international calling values

  • can we use it for recharge?

  • is there international calls?

    • UNLIMTED STND CALLS & TEXT TO 25 SELECTED DESTINATIONS: Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, United Kingdom, USA, Vietnam

Guys, still there's better deal from Optus until 26Apr,
    https://www.optus.com.au/shop/prepaid/sim-card/180-sim

    • I think Optus deal doesn’t include international unlimited calling.

      • -2

I doubt, Are you sure mate, please reconfirm. Thanks.

        • +1

Just checked. You have to use extra add-on credit to get international calling value

  • Waiting for the extra 40gb deal !!!

    • You can buy it and hold off on activating until when and if they reintroduce extra data… But it appears to have gone back to $150…

  • +2

    Back to 150?

  • back to $150. :(

  • +3

    back to $135.00. =D

  • Does anyone know if wifi calling is supported on Boost Pre Paid??

The colorbond steel roof at my house means no reception so wifi calling is a must for me..

    • Yes, I’m using this plan and it has Telstra Wifi Call

      • Great. Thanks very much.

  • lots of references to porting out and then porting back in but that sounds like quite a bit of hassle. If you are already on this plan, can you just buy the recharge voucher at $150, keep the service, keep your number and be good for another 12 months? I know this is not the ozbargain way, but anyway?

    • What did you want to hear ? The answer multiple times is 'no'. I can understand that perhaps if you keep asking the question again maybe the answer will change - but at the moment as far as I can tell it hasn't.

I'm in the same boat.. i'd love to take advantage of the ozbargain deals to recharge and save $15, but not at the cost of the effort to port out and back in again.

So you have to admire how Boost have structured the deal - it does exactly what it's designed to do - attract new customers with a discount/savings on what is already pretty good value but existing customers simply get the 'good value' unless they're willing to put in the effort to basically 'become' a new customer.. and most won't.. as there isn't enough savings (a free month) to bother.

  • My Kogan plan expired today, can I still port over or does my Kogan need to be recharged first?

    • +1

      You don't need to recharge.

  • +6

LOL to this on their listing

Cheapest Boost Mobile $150 Prepaid SIM Card (Not Recharge Card) 12 Months 365days 80GB Data ,Please Dont Put This Ads On Ozbargin As Not Allowed To Sell Cheaper Than RRP $150 And Limitdd Stock .Thanks

    • I swear that this added text is a new addition to the page after I told everyone it was back down to 135 again.

  • Does anyone know if a port from Aldi is ok or do we need to go to a non Telstra reseller first?

  • Currently on Optus plan Looking to move to boost, Has anyone port in from Optus plan how long did it take with everything going on.

  • I cant remember why I chose aldi $99 + $70 data addon over boost last year? Anyone know the differences other than price and exact amount of data? is it voicemail related maybe?

  • Apologise for a noob question, but if I am with Optus (post-paid 12 month contract expiring tomorrow), I believe I can just purchase this deal and port-in while keeping the same number? The part I am not sure is how to go about keeping my number when I activate the BOOST sim card. Could anyone please help?

  • +2

For the existing Boost users - which is the cheapest SIM card/ carrier to port into and immediately port out? Can you order that sim online for free?

  • +1

Damn, I wish there was a Offer for a Boost Recharge deal.

    • Easy to port out and in

  • Did an Officework Price Beat today in store :) Thanks OP. Like mentioned above, they can't access the site using their corporate phone. The site is classified as gambling in their internal system. If there's no stock, they can't back order for click and collect and will recommend that you visit another store. Start the conversation by checking if they have stock.

  • As noted here I had the same response.

Officeworks wouldn't price match because it has a different model number

    bestdealplaza MPN: P54770515
    Officeworks Part Number 76750318702

What is the difference between these 2 SIM's?

    • Probably just the barcode and packaging.

  • +1

able to get Officework to price beat to $128. Thanks OP!
