Bowers and Wilkins P5 Wireless On-Ear Headphones Series 2 $199 Shipped @ Audiotrends

100

Half price, by far the cheapest I've ever seen.

Already own p3 series 1, which were by far the best headphones I've ever had. And these should be a step up in audio quality.

They get great reviews at x2 price.

  • Seems to be a 2015 product.
The usual question, how are the sound and comfort compared to the ozb beloved Bose QuietComfort 35?

    • Bose QuietComfort 35, they look like my ears would overheat very quickly. Thats why I like the B&W style.

Generally I've always found Bose, Seinnheisser massively overrated … never been that impressed.

      • They sound great for Noise Cancelling cans. For actual critical listening, they are very average. That's where actual good headphones come in to play.

      • +2

        Generally I've always

        Generally or always?

      • whaaa? Yes, Bose, even Sony… but Sennheiser?

    • Thanks guys. Sorry for asking this noob question, Bluetooth v3.0, does it affect connectivity with newer phones or sound quality?

      • I think it's actually 4.1. And no.

  • Bluetooth Codecs: aptX; AAC; SBC
    Finish: Real leather and metal
Inputs: 3.5mm stereo mini jack (CTIA); Micro USB 2.0 (Battery Charging, Service & FW update); 2x microphones supporting CVC2 algorithm

    Quality right there.

  • I'm not sure if this is series 2 as well, but it's slightly cheaper here https://www.digitalcinema.com.au/bowers-wilkins-p5-wireless-…

    • delivery ?

      • free delivery to Melbourne, not sure about elsewhere

  • How do these compare to Sony's wh-1000xm3 sound quality wise?

    • These have a unique sound signature, better if you actually want to listen to music critically.

      • In terms of the sound stage and distinction in different instruments/sounds?

        • +1

You need to listen to difference headphones to determine what signature you want. No headphone has everything, do you want flat sound, amplified bass, do you love treble, do you like the sound to be distant increasing "sound stage" or do you prefer it to sound like you are in front of the band etc etc.

Of course you can hear the different instruments/sounds in the P5, they will sound much closer though, as sound in the XM3 is very distant IMO. IMO the purpose of closed back is to keep sound in, but in doing this it reduces the "sound stage" significantly. If you value sound ability and sound stage, you want open back IMO.

  • Used to have these , great sounding headphones , but clamping force is an issue.

  • I've had these for the past year and a half. They look great and sound fantastic. Also got an option to plug in a 3.5mm input cable if you don't want to use the Bluetooth function to save on battery life - the socket is hidden underneath the left earpad which is held on by magnets.

Only minor gripe is that I wear glasses and using these headset for an extended period does make my ears sore as it does hold on pretty snug and presses my ear against the legs of my glasses. No such worry if you don't wear glasses or remove them before extended headphone use.

  • I have a normal-sized head and although these sound great, they clamp your head and ears and ears will get hot.

    • can't you just adjust them ? My p3's were fine, I'm worried now.

  • These are quality. I paid much more for both series 1 (non wireless) and series 2.
    I also have Sony wh-1000xm3.
(Subjective opinion) I find these more a better build quality than the Sony and more accurate and balanced.
Memory foam ear pads are nice touch too

    • You think it's worthwhile despite having the Sony's

      • +1

        That's up to you.
When I fly (average 50 - 60 flights a year pre covid-19) I use the Sony's (noise cancelling) but for everything else I prefer B&Ws.
Neither great go for a run with because of sweat factor.
