  • Good prices, I've bought my winter seeds online from a nursery this year (for a bit more), going to see if there is any difference in quality.

  • Bunnings have lowered price across all store?

    • Bunnings have reduced prices on only their budget seed range (if you can find them, low stock at some stores)

Get in early before the Covid-19 gardeners buy them all.

I've been to 4 different bunnings in the last week. No vegetable seeds or seedlings at any of them.

FWIW I went into Bunnings in Oakleigh, Vic this morning (about 9:30am), and they had a stack load of seeds (including veggies and herbs) for sale, including their 'value' range at $0.99 a packet. In general people were trying to maintain their distance, and the shop was fairly empty, but just to make life slightly more disgusting a lot of the trolleys had used latex gloves tossed in them from prior customers. Initially I went - oh, that's nice, Bunnings are putting gloves in the trolleys for their customers - then I realised they were used. Just a head's up there.

I own a nursery. I have had dozens of calls daily from people chasing vegetable seeds and seedlings.

    • Just all decided we may as well get everything planted now while we have time. My problem is that some of my summer stuff is still going, as we haven't had the extremely hot days which usually spell the end for them.

As an expert, do you recommend biting the bullet and getting seeds in for winter, or could I hold off on that for a bit?

You can plant the winter crop seeds now. Carrots, beans, peas etc. The overnight temps are not warm enough to sustain the summer vegies much longer.

        • Thanks - my tomatoes still seem to be ripening, but I don't think any more will grow. I've still got strawberries coming through and passionfruit are trying their hardest, but it's the first season I've had fruit on that so not that fussed. Funny old seasons this year.

    • Ha yeah, I know a florist who is giving away free seeings with every bunch of flowers. They are in demand!!

      • Psychic florist?

        • Haha generous florist!

  • I literally still have over 100 of the Woolies seed thing from last year

  • Yeah no winter crop for me this year, cant find anything anywhere…..

I knew i should have been keeping my own seeds.

  • unobtainable unless your name is Karen.

  • When is this on? I can't see it on the Aldi Web site.

    • It started yesterday. On now till sold out.

  • Managed to grab 8 different veg packets. Should keep me busy for the next 3 months.
    They are going fast though.
