[ACT, NSW, VIC] Woolworths Basics Box $80 Delivered @ Woolworths

2384

Copy pasting..

These are testing times for all Australians, especially for the most vulnerable in our communities.

Which is why we’ve developed the Woolworths Basics Box, to help provide essential products to customers who are currently unable to visit our stores - the elderly, people with a disability, those with compromised immunity and people in mandatory isolation. To make sure all Woolworths Basics Boxes make their way to people who need them most, you’ll need to be able to show that you fall into one of these groups to order one. We will not be profiting from providing this service.

Update 9 April 2020:

We have now extended the Woolworths Basics Box so it’s available to anyone in need, either for themselves or for delivery to others in the community.

First time post.. I do apologise in advance.. If I were a pensioner down to my last $80 I would think twice about ordering. Both boxes half empty.
    Total cost $ 72.35..

    Helga's wholemeal wraps 8pk $5
    Woolworth's apple juice 2 ltr $2
    Dolmio tomato pasta sauce $3.30
    Heinz classic soup X 2 =$5.00
    Watties baked beans $1.55
    Woolworth's pasta 500g $1.20
    Armona tomato's diced $1.40
    Woolworth's sliced peach $2.00
Twinning morning tea 18 pk $6.00
    Loacker choc wafers $2.50
    Woolworth's uht full cream milk x2 =2.50
    Woolworths flour $1
    Woolworth's sugar $1
    Heinz canned soup creamytomato 535gx2 = $5
    Woolworth's sea salt crackers 185g $2
    Green seas tuna 95g X 4 = $8
    Sanitarium weetbix 375g $2.90
    Ixl strawberry jam 480g $3.50
    Lowan traditional oats 1kg $4.00
    Sam's pantry supergrain Bars $3.50
Quilton 8 roll toilet paper $7.50
A single bar of soap balnea.. I couldnt find the price so say $1.50??

My opinion things were over priced, not necessarily what is needed.. What do you all think…

Another part of the problem is that they don't buy the larger size items, which usually have much better per unit cost.

Like weetbix, who buys 375g box? That would cost significantly more than 1kg on a per unit basis (unless there is a serious special for the smaller box)

Yeah these are garbage - I could get twice as much for $80 - delivery included (which was not DHL, it was Australia post).

E.g. homebrand wraps for half the price vs helgas wraps. "premium" oats, WTF were wafers included.. 1 bar of soap.. who buys 1 bar of soap?

They either weren't trying or cynically exploiting a crisis.

As far as I am concerned this is massive reputational damage for Woolworths. They'll have to do a lot to get me to trust them again - considering they conned my mother into ordering one.

  • Looking at an article on another website there is a picture posted and they have the exact same items I received. So looks like most of not all boxes contain the same stuff. . I feel maybe the price could be decreased and the products could have been substituted for similar stuff maybe a cheaper alternative. $50 would be a good price

  • I just checked the website and looks like it is now availble to everyone:

Given the calculations people have used above are based on full retail price, where Woolies does profit and you can include shipping price, how can the supermarket claim they aren't making profit?
