1) Not everyone travels for the fun of it. Events, sick family, and frankly, some people are trying to get home.
2) If you're a backpacker and self-isolation isn't possible in a dorm room, cheap hotel rooms is good for all of us (Keep them separated).
3) I know people who need to get into the cities for critical medical care. Their trip is too long to allow for a same day return. Need somewhere to stay.
But yes, there will also always be idiots :/
I feel like if they need it, they would have found it already or price wouldn't be a factor. The only people who wouldn't know are people who haven't looked because they don't need it.
But you make great points and I somewhat take my comment back, definitely will help some people out. Especially those who looked before hand and didn't find anything. Will it outweigh the possible negative ramifications is the questions. There will be people who look at this as an opportunity for cheap travel and possibly an extra 2 week paid vacation when they come back.
Nice to see a reply that isn’t aggressive/defensive.
I travel for mattress run.
Please update the dates.
done
I did a quick search on a hotel in Singapore that i was looking at
Normal retail price per night is approx $440
You can usually get it for $130
They have jacked up the price to $1,200
and kept the normal price of $130
and call it a 88% discount.
You scroll down and see normal prices below. No deal just price jacking and smoke screens
I wouldn't touch Agoda. they can have lower prices (usually for Asian countries), but with the Covid-19 outbreak… they were a pain to deal with. Especially when their competitors were offering full refunds, Agoda were toting the line of 'we are merely a booking site, and its up to the hotel to provide the refund'.
Never ever use Agoda again anymore
I booked bali hotel next month, and I cancelled my plan because of coronavirus
Already get back credit from Jetstar, but Agoda ignore my request
Most hotel website to accept refund even it was non refundable deals
Booking.com and other big sites like that are doing the same. Their partner policy is to tell them to refund people. It's unfortunately not something Booking or Agoda can force the hotels to do.
Agoda is owned by Booking Holdings and uses same engine as Booking.com with different frontend, why would their policies be different?
Well that explains it then (didn't know they were linked).
@beatthatflight: Travel insurance. Since now airlines are cancelling your flight.
Jacked up prices. Fake as F*** deal. Hate this with all thats going around.
This is not a deal. There's not even anywhere to enter the promo code?
I took the example of Sofitel Darling HArbour in Sydney. Cheaper to book virtually everywhere else.
Same here - says "promo eligible" but nowhere to etner the code.
Honestly with what's going on right now, travel should not be promoted because some idiot with zero self regard for others will buy it.
