What is the cheapest 2.5inch SSD with DRAM cache? I know the NAND flash prices are really high at the moment
$88.00 + Postage at ShoppingExpress Link
Postage is ~$11 to vic.
So pardon my ignorance but this is fine into a desktop or is it a compact form aimed at laptops?
They're good and speedy in any computer, desktop or laptop, as long as you've got an M.2 slot.
Thanks for the response.
No such ports on my old ASRock Z77 Extreme4 Mobo.
But these are also PCI Express. Both the crucial and Lexar. Yes?
No, these SSD's are M.2
It simply uses the PCI lanes to transmit data, but it needs an M.2 connector to be used.
Sad..
these are cheaper than most 2.5" Sata SSD's :/

There is no reason fro 2.5" SSD to be that costly unless they are enterprise grade or are MLC drives.
But i think it comes down to connectivity. Most old and new computers have a SATA 3 port. but not M.2 slot. thats where the demand lies.
If anyone is really considering it, the WD Blue drives are a bit cheaper and faster:

EDIT: only the SN500 is faster, the WDS500G2B0B model (that is cheaper on eBay) is slower
Or you can get the Crucial P1 1TB SSD M.2 PCIe NVME 3D NAND SSD 2000MB/s for $183.20 from the same seller.
It also has 14 product ratings that are all 5 stars, most of them raving about how much better their laptop/computer is after this simple upgrade!!
