does anyone know if inside contain a 2.5" 9.5mm hard drive? which can be use on a normal laptop internal hard drive?
AFAIK it has an integrated usb interface, ie No easily accessed SATA connection…
Damn! This deal would have been perfect if the internal hard drive was removable. Still a good deal though
JB hifi used to have 1tb usb3 buffalo drives. Internally they were sata and 12.5mm. $98. That was on special but I suspect its now an everyday price for that model, if they still stock them.
You wont get 9.5mm for a while I suspect. Theyve been slow to bring platters of that density to market as external drives.
If you need 1tb 9.5mm you'll probably have to buy the Samsung M8 as a barebone drive (WD has a 9.5mm 1tb drive now too, and I think toshiba although very difficult to find outside OEM channels). Sorry I cant provide more model numbers at the moment.. I have a list but its at work.
Please post when you have the list -still looking for a 9.5mm PS3 upgrade drive.
Seagate was the 1st one to bring out a 2 platter 1TB 2.5" external drive, have a look at Model: STAA1000103
But I don't know whether it has a SATA connector….

meh, this is normal price. umart have similar price.
Umart sells them for $95 (INTERNET ORDERS ONLY) and they've been OUT OF STOCK for quite a while now! I bought mine for $110 2 months ago. This is a welcome price from MSY. Will be getting another one. Fast 7200rpm drives. Pity it uses integrated USB interface.

You can only pay at the store. But you can order online to reserve one for you and pick it up in store.
Just as a heads-up, BigW currently have a HP 1TB USB 3.0 portable drive for $64, the main difference being they're a 3.5" drive.

I'd say the main difference is it requires its own power source so isn't really portable (of course that's true of all 3.5" drives but needs spelling out).

Bought this deal … got confirmation email which said wait for email from the store manager at Cheltenham where I was going to pick it up. got confirmation email giving 2 days to pick it up … phone if you need more time etc …. so far so good.
Send husband all the way there to pick it up following day to be told out of stock - sorry 'system' error etc and be offered a 500 gb one instead.
